Lucky Star offers great Taiwanese dishes and a chill escape - Review - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"By day, this West Midtown spot serves coffee and Taiwanese pastries like egg custard tarts. At night, the cafe flips into a cocktail bar with Taiwanese light bites. But regardless of what time it is, Lucky Star delivers a quiet break from whatever chaos envelops your life. There are no screaming kids, obnoxious scene seekers, incessant chatter, TV screens, nor even windows. It’s borderline serene, like a sensory deprivation chamber with not much else to look at when it comes to decor. Instead, the focus is on the food and drinks, like a flaky duck fat scallion pancake, the must-order sausage in sausage, and the color-changing Harvest Moon with green tea and saffron. It’s a tasty meal with a side of quiet, which is nearly impossible to find in this part of town. Food Rundown Sausage In Sausage This popular Taiwanese street food is one of the best things on the menu here. A drizzle of garlic soy sauce helps balance the smoky sausage link on top and the split-open and slightly mashed up rice sausage on the bottom. photo credit: Juli Horsford Soft Boiled Tea Eggs Two eggs (already halved) come per order. The eggs are cooked well, we just wish the tea flavor was a bit fuller. photo credit: Juli Horsford Duck Fat Scallion Pancake It’s pan-seared, incredibly light and flaky, buttery, and filled with scallions. There isn’t anything to dislike here. photo credit: Juli Horsford Three Cup Chicken Little chunks of chicken sit in a bowl doused with garlic and soy. It’s not going to change your life, but it’s a pretty good chicken dish. Fly’s Head If you only get a quick glance at this dish, it looks like it’s a plate of chives. Upon closer inspection, the garlicky chives are mixed with tender pork belly, black beans, mushrooms, and a bit of tofu—it’s a very tasty stir fry. photo credit: Juli Horsford" - Juli Horsford

The Best New Restaurants Around Atlanta, March 2025

"Lucky Star at Star Metals in West Midtown has created quite the buzz around Atlanta. The Taiwanese cafe cocktail bar comes from chef Jason Liang and John Chen from Michelin-starred Brush, Momonoki, and Momo Cafe. It serves breakfast pastries beginning at 8 a.m. and transitions to noodle soups, sandwiches, and scallion pancakes for lunch and dinner. There are high expectations from Liang and Chen, though the food and cocktail menu needs to find its sea legs. Only a select few cocktails are available each night (those underlined on the online menu), and the food is meant for small bites, except the beef noodle soup, which is a large serving. Vibey and loungey, every seat was full on a recent Thursday night, even as the menu (hopefully) works out its kinks." - Henna Bakshi

We visited Lucky Star in Atlanta on a Thursday night to celebrate a birthday dinner for two. Since it was a weekday, the restaurant was fairly slow, but the service was attentive. Our servers checked on us periodically and were great about clearing and cleaning the table after each dish, which we appreciated. Although each dish was considered small plates, we left full and stomachs well fed. We ordered quite a spread: beef shank scallion pancake, sausage in a sausage, sizzling eggplant & basil, Lu Rou Fan (braised pork belly over rice), beef noodle soup, and black sesame tang yuan, along with a couple of cocktails (Lucky Rabbit and 5th Fruit). The cocktails were fine but didn't really stand out or leave much of an impression. The standout dish for us was easily the sizzling eggplant & basil. It arrived extremely hot and was packed with explosive flavors! The taste actually reminded us of pad ka pao, which we loved. The beef shank scallion pancake was also very good, though ours could have been served a bit hotter as it was slightly brought out cold. That said, the paired sauces were delicious and really elevated the dish. The beef noodle soup would be a hit if you enjoy beef pot roast-style flavors: rich, comforting, and hearty. The Lu Rou Fan was another strong dish; the pork belly was delicious, and I was pleasantly surprised that the mustard greens ended up being my favorite part. Unfortunately, a couple of items missed the mark. The sausage in a sausage wasn't anything special, and the rice inside felt undercooked, leaving a crunchy, chewy texture that took away from the dish. The black sesame tang yuan was just okay for me. The dish had way too much cilantro for my liking, which overpowered the black sesame mochi flavor. On the plus side, the peanuts paired really well with the Hokkaido milk ice cream. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Lucky Star. There were some really great dishes and solid service, with a few misses holding it back from a full 5 stars. I'd definitely come back to try more from the menu and be back for brunch and lunch options.

Just a short drive from GA Tech, this spot serves up Taiwanese-style dishes—or at least, that’s what I expected 🤔 Since I was driving today, I skipped the cocktails (so no score for that part 🍸), but the atmosphere felt more like a bar or fine dining restaurant than a Taiwanese eatery. Judging from the reviews, it’s been open for a while, but service definitely needs improvement. No one checked if the food was okay, and the staff seemed distant and overwhelmed—even though the restaurant wasn’t full. Here’s what I ordered: 🍠 Sweet Potato Fries — Comes with plum seasoning, a super local Taiwanese touch! Unfortunately, the portion was small, and the plum powder was way too much—it overpowered the fries and made them overly sweet (and not so pretty). ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🦪 Oyster Omelette (O ah jian) — Loved seeing the Taiwanese name on the menu, but sadly, it missed the mark. The batter texture was completely absent, and there were barely any oysters hiding under a thin layer of egg. Honestly, it felt more like a vegetable omelette (“Shu Cai Jian”) than the real deal. The sauce was okay though. ⭐️⭐️ 🥣 Beef Noodle Soup — Asked for it to be served last. The broth had a hint of herbal aroma but was surprisingly light and flat in flavor. The wide noodles were overcooked and soggy—knife-cut noodles might’ve been better. The pickled veggies didn’t match well with the soup, and the small chunks of carrot were bland. ⭐️⭐️ 🔸 Overall: If you’re craving authentic Taiwanese flavors, this place might disappoint. But if you’re coming for drinks and want some Taiwanese-inspired street food to go with your cocktail, it could still be worth a visit!?

Had an amazing happy hour at Lucky Star! The Lu Rou Fan, Taiwanese Chicken Sandwich, and Sausage in Sausage were all delicious. Drinks — Bees Knees (a bit too tart for me), Little Lantern, Daju Kiss, Yuzu Old Fashioned, Yuzu Gin & Tonic — were all good. The Black Sesame Tang Yuan dessert was on the less sweet side and delicious — even my husband loved it! Cozy ambiance and friendly staff. We also grabbed pastries to go and can’t wait to try them!

Nice open coffee/tea/bar/lounge that sells quick eats (light finger foods). Beautiful decor very neat and clean esthetic not your average "coffee" house of yesteryear. This place boasts modern, hipster Cosmopolitan youthful energies. Bring your purse because they automatically put a 20 %percent gratuity on your check even though we were a party of 2.... They specifically note on the receipt that a party of 6 will automatically be charged20%.....I don't know where they added 2 ppl into 6 but I guess thats the games they play in Atlanta....Other than that, the service was with a smile and the event that they had was incredible.Great music/Hreat energy,, the place packed out for about 4hours..

Google
The same taste as my mom made in Taiwan! This is definitely the number one Taiwanese store in Atlanta! I strongly recommend that every Taiwanese who misses the taste of home try it; you will cry so hard. The parking lot is a bit difficult to find, but the space is ample and easily accessible. Don't forget to bring your parking ticket to inform the cashier; they will give you a valid ticket for 2 hours of free parking. Totally enough for the whole dining. You can walk around after dining, there are some events around the street sometimes.

I really wanted to love this place but the overall experience fell flat. We walked in at 11am on a Saturday, and service experience was extremely confusing. We told the host we wanted to order coffee and food and he instructed us to go to the counter. At the counter there was only a coffee menu, so we ordered coffee and paid and were instructed to use a QR code to look at the food menu. We then sat down to look at the food menu and went back at the counter to order, where we were told that it would then be table service and that they would bring the check when we were done. This seemed confusing and inconsistent. The coffees came out within 10 minutes and were excellent. They were truly delicious and unique from other cafes in Atlanta. I’d definitely come back for the coffee. The food however took much longer. Both of us ordered some variation of the scallion pancake. Despite being one of two parties in the cafe, the first pancake took 30 minutes to come out and the second took 45. The food was good but didn’t justify the long wait. I’d come back for only the coffee. I think this restaurant would be better served if it acted as a cafe or better defined the service interactions with customers. The baristas were excellent and the service itself was very good, just confusing for the customers.

As a Taiwanese American, it is so hard to find a taste of our little island in the States. I tried not to set my expectations too high before coming, but man did they knock it out of the park! Here you can find tried and true classics like Lu Rou Fan (braised pork belly over rice) and Taiwanese red braised beef noodle soup, to an elevated homage to street foods like sausage in sausage and scallion pancake with egg and cheese (insert perfect opportunity to make it a crossover with bacon egg and cheese 😉). We haven’t even gotten to the unique coffee and cocktails, but you’ll just have to find out for yourself. Came last week with my good buddy and instantly knew I had to bring my family this weekend when they visited.

Google
Enjoyed the lucky star atmosphere ~ Drinks were very unique! I recommend the jasmine matcha latte, it’s really creamy and refreshing. The food is an asian fusion kind of blend. I really enjoyed the oyster pancake, edamame, and sausage the best. Don’t skip the pastries ! The egg tart and croissants were the highlight at the table ~

Yelp
So I was here for the Cocktail omakase so I can only speak on that experience. Do I recommend? 5/5. Such a unique and fun experiment. The bartenders were really engaging and very fun. It was a Small group maybe about 6/7 of us. We did the cocktail omakase as well as the good pairing and it was such a great choice. The portion sizes were great and tasted amazing. This is such a perfect date idea and I could recommend it more. You're Welcome.

Yelp
Taiwanese food made very accessible. We enjoyed our lunch experience at Lucky Star. I chose this over the other Taiwanese choices due to location and our itinerary. I ordered the classic braised pork over rice. While I enjoyed the beautiful tea egg and pork, I wish there were more pork. Too bad the lunch offerings are limited. Hubby liked the beef sandwich. It is made w mild 5 spice braised beef, with more juice for dipping. Lucky Star is in a very modern, open space inside a business/ residential building. The designated parking (fee) is directly underneath restaurant.

Yelp
*Happy Hour Review* Hours are 4-6 everyday (yes, that means weekends too). The menu is on their website. They validate parking. The drinks are fantastic. Only issue was we had to send the bill back, we were charged full price. The fried chicken sandwich was the only food item on the menu worth the money ($10!) The sweet potato fries were great, but the sandwich literally came with like 6 or 8 fries. We saw a side order of the fries at another table and were glad we didn't order that for another $7. I'm not even sure it was a full potato's worth of fries. The mini Lu rou fan was good but it was truly mini for $8. The service wasn't great. Seems they had only one person working the bar and restaurant service and a maitre'd/hostess on FOH.

Yelp
Went here with a friend a couple weeks ago. We went on a Wednesday evening. We did make reservations, but it wasn't too crowded when we showed up. We got the scallion pancake and the sichuan beef noodles. The pancake is a must! Great service and cool vibe. They do validate parking!

Yelp
I stumbled into Luck Star curious and intrigued by its vibe and drink selection having some downtime in the area. The place itself has a chill aesthetic, but service-wise, things started a little slow. There were three servers, and although I was acknowledged early, it took a while before anyone actually took my order. When I asked about Japanese whisky, my server genuinely looked like it was the first time he had seen that section on the drink menu. Not the most confidence-inspiring moment, but the bartender was friendly and willing to explore with me. I ordered the Akashi Ume Plum whisky -- neat with a single ice cube. The bartender admitted it was his first time pulling it off the shelf. Right away, the whisky had a potent alcohol smell and a clear fermented funk to it, but to my surprise, it was incredibly smooth. It warmed my stomach instantly but went down without any burn. I let it sit on my tongue to break down the flavors -- definitely plum-forward, with an earthy sweetness and subtle floral undertones that leaned almost dessert-like. To complement it, I ordered what I believe was a seasonal crème brûlée croissant, and WOW. I would fight someone for this pastry. Rich, creamy, and with an authentic brûléed sugar crunch on top -- it was perfect with the whisky. The pairing felt accidental but magical. Although the croissant took a bit to arrive, it was absolutely worth the wait. Side note: the pour of whisky wasn't just a shot -- it filled half a glass and packed serious strength with every sip, so I had to pace myself. While sitting at the bar, I also learned about their Cocktail Omakase experience -- a 2-hour curated tasting for $90 via Resy. Watching others go through it was enough to convince me I'm coming back just for that. All together it was $25, which for a generously poured drink and a big ass sweet was well worth it and made an hour of free time fly by in a blink.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to date and dine at Lucky Star and was not disappointed. The food, ambiance, and seating was just what I need to enjoy happy hour and some Taiwanese comfort food. When my wife decided to choose this, she shocked me with her loud exclamation of "OOOO I've been wanting to try this place!" Our waitress was attentive and gave great recommendations. She was just on board as we were with our choices and gave great feedback to help us anticipate the deliciousness to come. Although the happy hour menu was small it delivered on the flavor. The Island Bird cocktail was tart but paired well with the heaviness of the Mini Lu Rou Fan and brightened up the Murder Point Oysters (the sauce toppings elevated this to the max). We also had the Taiwanese Fried Chicken Sandwich which was enough for two people. I swear that it was just a whole chicken flattened and fried to perfection. The sweet potato fries that accompanied this dish were just the right amount and had a great balance of flavor of crispiness. Along with this were the Duck Fat Scallion Pancakes and Three Cup Chicken or should I say "Three Cup Heaven." I wish I didn't have to say that this meal was satisfying enough for me to just pass out on the nice and cushy seats with pillows but yeah... On top of this, I got the Crème Brûlée Croissant which would've made my day with a cup of their hot coffee. If you need a pick me up or something that leaves you cozy and happy, give Lucky Star a try. Happy Hour time is the best time!

Yelp
I've come here several times for the assortment of lattes and matcha offerings so we decided to come back for dinner and left disappointed. We arrived around 6:22 for our 6:30, typically Lucky Star is busy and there is a hostess greeting you at the desk but it was oddly bare which made for an awkward start. After a couple of mins we were told to grab a spot at any open table and someone would be with us shortly. Candidly that took a min as well, it seemed as if everyone was occupied with the omakase cocktail experience, which seems pretty cool. Once our waitress came over, we ordered a couple of things to share which included the Lychee Jasmine Americano and Yuzu Matcha Float for drinks and Beef Scallion Pancake Wrap, Oysters, 3g Caviar and Wagyu Black Pepper Steak for the food. The drinks were amazing per usual - but the food fell short. Despite the emptiness of the restaurant, while very good the Beef Scallion Pancake Wrap was lukewarm at best. I enjoyed the oysters but they were the last thing to come out to the table. We realized the waitress never asked the steak temp preference- when we asked, she mentioned they only serve it medium or well done and it definitely came out on the well done side which is a bit of a turnoff considering we prefer our steaks medium rare. It's pretty fatty and I don't think it serves 4, maybe comfortably 2 people. The caviar was a complete waste, it tasted metallic, so I assume something metal was used to serve. It's really a cute spot; parking is validated for 2hrs in the deck below. Once they got the music going, it's got a great vibe and moody in the best ways. Overall Lucky Star is cool for drinks and potentially pastries or desserts but I would not recommend going to dinner with the intention of feeling complete; we ended up heading to another restaurant for dinner.

Yelp
I dropped by here on a Friday since its dj night. I had been wanting to try their cocktail omakase so this place was already on my list. I grabbed a spot at the bar. Dj Jah was really good and I enjoyed my drinks. I had the peachtree plum and daju kiss. The daju kiss was my favorite. Looking forward to coming back to try a few small bites and the omakase.

Yelp
I gave this restaurant 3 star because of the following; Food: meh. I had the beef noodle soup and my husband had the cold sesame noodle and we both agreed that the dishes were mediocre at best. The presentation was amazing but both dishes lacks flavor. Drinks: the drinks were great. We recommend the purified tomato with tonic. Interesting concept of purifying the tomato so the drink is clear and not red. Price: the prices were decent for the area. Ambience: it was nice and chill for Sunday afternoon. Overall,This place is super cute with friendly staff, but the food wasn't that great. I would come back to sit at the bar, but wouldn't eat here again.

Yelp
This place is such a vibe!! It's my first time in Star Metal and wow this place is so chic and beautiful. So pretty inside and the drinks are good. Came here on Friday just a few minutes before 6 pm and they happen to have happy hour from 4-6 and still managed to get the deal. Ordered the highball, yuzu old fashioned and edamame and total was around $25! Service was great and overall really cool ambiance. Can't wait to come back here for more.

Yelp
Ambiance, with nice lighting and well-matched furniture, is swanky and upscale. The waitress told us she would bring out the menus, but ended up plopping a hilarious wood trapezoid on the table displaying a QR code. Definitely an unexpected sight. I'm in the boat of people who want a physical menu at a restaurant so this was a bit tragic. Strong start with the duck fat scallion pancake, with its satisfying layers and deep flavor. While it became a bit too salty on my 4th piece, the sauce was tangy and sweet, a great accompaniment to the savory pancake. All went downhill during the entrees though. The braised pork portion was absurdly miniscule. If you were to sum up the entirety of the pork, you could maybe create one piece of pork that was a 1 inch by 1 inch cube. I wish I was joking but I'm not. For $16 I would expect at least 7 times that amount of meat. Plus the sauce was extremely one-noted and just tasted salty. It was a real shame because the cucumbers, mustard greens, and soft boiled egg were excellent atop the fluffy rice. My boyfriend's spicy beef noodles were also a letdown. While the beef was tender, the sauce on the noodles tasted chemical-like and borderline inedible. The pineapple cake flavored ice cream was delicious though. Rich texture, almost like custard, with chunks of shortbread and pineapple purée. Portion size was sizable too. Might have to come back just for dessert next time

Yelp
Super pretty new Asian fusion spot in Westside! We came for a group dinner and overall enjoyed the experience! The ambiance, service, and drinks were all fantastic, the only thing I would say could improve is some of the food. They also validate parking for 2 hours in the deck which is nice since parking in the area is a nightmare. We decided to do family style where we shared a few things. * Scallion pancakes: so good! Always a classic and love it when it's done well * 3 cup chicken: also would recommend! Flavor was great and definitely my favorite of the 3 dinner entrees * Lu rou fan: good but not even close to my family's version which has more umami flavor and wayyy more sauce! But I'm biased and the rest of the table liked it haha * beef noodle soup: the worst dish that we got! The table agreed it was flavorless so it was super disappointing. Overall I'd rate the food here a 3/5, but everything else that makes up the restaurant experience was great so I'm bumping the review to a 4/5!

Yelp
The inside at night is very cute but I think that's all the positives I'm able to give. We tried a few items and 2 coffees. Duck Fat Scallion pancake: came out weirdly... room temperature? Like it's just been sitting out. It was also pretty tasteless Three cup chicken: it's a sautéed chicken and rice dish. It's soooooo salty. Winter lucky star: this is a coffee with earl grey caramel and orange cream. It was okay. Service: Our server was super nice. But not sure if she forgot our order or maybe the kitchen did because we ordered the oyster omelette and it never arrived but I guess that was a good thing since the other 2 dishes was a dud.
google avatar

Cj S.

Yelp
The standout of this location is the location itself. A beautiful and spacious layout. We went pretty early in the day and only one person was sitting inside so I'll definitely be back to work. The coffees were pretty small, but concentrated with pretty solid flavor. I had an iced oat latte with simple syrup. They don't offer vanilla, just honey and simple syrup. I didn't get a picture of the croissant but this is one of the best croissant I've had in a while. Very buttery and flaky. I'll be back to check out some other options on the menu.!

Yelp
Fresh off the plane from TPE I was excited to try the new lucky star. Very disappointed. The limited menu is fine, but I expected everything to be the best version of each item. That was not the case. Started with the oyster omelette. No thank you. Bean sprouts were raw; oysters were not in actual omelette; it tasted extremely fishy and it was $18! Next, scallion pancake was probably the best item I had. Just done well but $1 for soy sauce. That's crazy. A bottle is $2. We also had the beef noodle soup. It was fine, but better to be found on Buford highway. Drinks were the best part. Hibiscus was yummy. I will say service was great. The hostess was lovely as was everyone who served us. Definitely make a reservation. Restaurant is in the Star office building.

Yelp
Came here on a weekend morning to try their pastries and drinks. I would say the service was okay, confusing concept. You can sit and they come to your table I think? It took some time and they didn't bring any utensils or straws so we still had to self serve anyways. The matcha was pretty good and I could tell they used ceremonial grade but for the price I was hoping they'd fill the cup up. The picture was before I even took a sip out of it. The egg tart was $6 and it came out cold! Not like sitting out cold but like from the fridge cold. We also thought the mocha cinnamon bun was small and the we couldn't really taste the cinnamon. Our favorite was the regular croissant. It was pretty flakey and good. They also do not validate parking here! I would say the prices are a little too steep and not really worth purposely coming to. Their food prices were even crazier!

Yelp
Lucky Star is a modern Taiwanese restaurant and bar housed in one of the many new developments in West Midtown. The space is beautiful, if a bit sterile-feeling in certain parts (like if you're sitting at the tables lining the main building hallway) due to its location. Service is friendly and seamless. Drinks are really well made and creative. Food mostly comprises Taiwanese food staples, some with a bit of a twist. The scallion pancakes are ridiculous, as expected since they're made with duck fat. My friend who had the three cup chicken really liked it, and it tasted like a faithful interpretation of the flavors albeit with a pretty small portion. I had the beef noodle soup. It was quite tasty, and the meat was very tender. I liked that they also offered some spicy chili oil to add some heat to the broth. Most Taiwanese people have their personal preferences when it comes to the type of beef noodle soup broth that they like--in terms of saltiness, oiliness, and how much herb or medicinal flavor they prefer. While the broth here was definitely less herby/medicinal and more salty than my personal platonic ideal of a beef noodle soup, it was still delicious. Prices are as expected for the upscale vibe and the area. I think that given the taste of the food and the quality of the drinks, the price is reasonable, but definitely don't come here if you're really hungry, as the portions are on the smaller side.

Yelp
It was definitely not what I was expecting! It is basically an "open air" restaurant in an office building. There is plenty of seating. The design is tres chic. The reception at the counter was a little cool but the waitress who brought me my snacks was very friendly. The drinks and the food are Taiwanese-influenced. I ordered their seasonal drink - which was divine. I ordered the ume tomato salad - which was refreshing- and the scallion pancake - which was just okay. (There are a number of restaurants on BuHi that offer a better version of the dish.) I got lucky with street parking because it was midday but during prime hours, parking could be challenging/pricy. I would definitely go back - and maybe try a couple of the other food items.

Yelp
Every time I come here I try something new and delicious and meet amazing people. The vibe inside was weird to me at first since it's basically in a hallway but they do so much with the space I love to hang out here.

Yelp
Tried this coffee shop for the first time, was pleasantly surprised! Was sad there was no parking validation so be prepared to pay $4. But the service was amazing, the coffee shop is beautiful, and the coffee was strong and delicious. Will definitely be back. Going to try to find some street parking next time

Yelp
Amazing upscale Taiwanese bar, with interesting takes on food and drinks! As a Taiwanese-American, loved their food- although some might find it "overpriced", their spin on the food is well worth it. Of course they won't be as cheap as night markets, but the food is really good. Had the scallion pancake and sausage in sausage, and egg tart! The egg tart was super flaky with a soft center. Sausage in sausage was nicely garnished, tastes just as good if not better than night markets. Alcoholic cocktails were very nicely mixed. Will definitely recommend and come back to try more things!!

Yelp
Cute little cafe spot. The coffee was alright in my opinion but they are still starting up I feel like. The scallion pancake however was great! Would recommend.

A big fan of Lucky Star already. The decor is gorgeous and translates well from day to night. I've been solo and with a friend and both times I had great service and enjoyed the majority of my food. Love their duck fat scallion pancakes and their Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup! The drink menu is still limited since they just opened but excited to come back once they are fully up and running. Only thing that isn't great is the expensive parking deck $16 for 2 hours.

Yelp
This bar is amazing. We ordered the Harvest Moon, Bananas!, yuzu chocolate croissant, egg tart, sausage in sausage, and the scallion pancake. The duck fat and the crispiness of the pancake was perfection, and the sausage in sausage even impressed my Taiwanese-born partner. The pastries were flaky and perfectly fresh, and the drinks were mixed flawlessly. Jared was our very personable bartender, and we bonded over our shared love for NYX liquid eyeliner. We finished on a jasmine matcha latte and an apple jasmine coffee, both of which were sensational. On to the bar decor; the jade bar lives in my head rent free. The general vibe and decor is upscale, yet cozy. 10/10 would recommend!

Yelp
We went on a Saturday night and it wasn't too crowded. The interior and bar were very modern. Good ambiance for a date night. Ordered braised pork belly over rice. Pretty expensive for a small portion ($18!!). The pork was tender but a bit salty and not as much flavor as I'd hoped. For drinks I had the Metropolitan and Figgy Stardust which were both really light and refreshing! Our bartenders were attentive and helpful. I would come back for the ambiance and drinks and skip the food.

Yelp
First time here and I was greeted with an aesthetically pleasing, open concept restaurant. You can tell the owner took their time with the color and decor choice, it feels light and airy in the dining area and plays well with the decor of the surrounding area. Shay served us and was incredibly sweet and knowledgeable while giving us a rundown of the menu and some of her favorites. Drink service was fast and both matchas were well made (i like mine a bit sweeter so Shay gave me a little simple syrup on the side). The food is so good, flavorful, nicely portioned and warming. We were told that it's shareable and it is but if you're hungry I'd get your own entree and share an appetizer. Would be a great place to sit down and get some work done, have lunch, or dinner! Don't skip the scallion pancake, you'll regret it.

Yelp
My review comes from a bunch/lunch POV Let's start with the good. - we had 3 different coffee drinks and very much enjoyed all of them. - my friend from Taiwan liked the food, I also enjoyed the taste - comfortable seating. Bad - while tasty food/drink is expensive, small portions. - expensive parking, does not validate. - confusing process.. for breakfast you order at the counter but after lunch they do table service? It wasn't clear. And no lunch menus, I looked up online and then my friend found a small QR code with no info printed in a wooden block that went to a menu . - my MAIN COMPLAINT. Waited time/ customer service was AWFUL. Waited 15 minutes at an empty till to just to order our drinks. Then Took 30 min to get our first set of drinks. About an hour later we ordered food.. which my friend's first dish arrives after 40 minutes. Mine took an hour (scallion pancake and it was cold). My friend has also ordered another coffee beverage at the same time she ordered food which only arrived AFTER we finished our food (so over an hour), because the waitress picked up our dirty dishes when she dropped off the coffee. We asked for waters, never got them. The it was another 40 min before we got our bill. I'm very aware of wait times esp if it was busy but there was a handful of people.. and even if it is a busy, sometimes a simple apology for the wait is nice. - out of the few things they sell, 3 of the things were not available, including the ONE breakfast sandwich they serve before the do lunch service. - because everything did take so long I ended up having to pay $20 JUST FOR PARKING/ It got one star for food/drink and once for ambiance but Sadly I can't recommend this place.

Yelp
This place is cute. Great ambiance. It seems like it is will be a great spot to grab pre meeting coffee or pre or post dinner cocktails. But, the food was great. The beef noodle soup had the perfect mix of richness, vinegar, and spice. Quality noodles and fall off the bone beef. It exceeded my expecting for sure. Good quality drinks too. I love that this small space offers so much!

Yelp
Lucky Star is such a lovely quaint little restaurant! It gives subtle speakeasy vibes - I really enjoyed the peaceful and elegant atmosphere paired with happy staff and amazing and Taiwanese food and drink. My favorite thing was the tea eggs, and the green lantern cocktail .

Yelp
Lucky Star was amazing! The service was impeccable, the vibes of the restaurant were so cozy yet elevated, and the food was insanely good. I really enjoyed the beef scallion pancake wrap. My friend and I literally looked at each other and gasped at how good it was. The cocktails were so interesting and thoughtful, the presentation was lovely, and the staff here is so helpful and knowledgeable about the menu. 12 out of 10 recommend. A hidden little gem

Yelp
Came here as a family of 6 (2 adults, 4 kids)! Food was great! We decided to order one of all of the main dishes (except for 2 Beef Noodle Soups). Beef Noodle Soup was a winner with the 2 older ones and quality/taste can hang with any of the strong noodle shops around here easily! The Chicken dish was delicious and we shared across the whole family. The sauce/marinade was absolutely bomb for the chicken. Dry Noodles were also great. Lu Rou Fan portion could be larger, but it was delicious and my 3rd son (8 year old) shared it with the 5 year old and they cleaned up the whole plate. Only slight feedback I might have here was my 2nd one ordered the Jasmine Matcha Latte and he definitely wanted it sweeter so we did have to request additional sweetener/syrup (which he used up completely) to get the sweetness to his satisfaction, but bear in mind my son's a typical 10 year old who loves sweets so his preferences may not be what you want either haha. Great ambience, sick drink menu, and will be great for the late night/date crowd as well with its bar/lounge vibes. Must check out!

Yelp
This place is always incredible. The service, the vibe and the food and cocktails! It's rare to have all these days. I'd like to go back and try the cocktail omakase they have. I had the melon cocktail and the sparkling rose, both tasty. We had the beef scallion pancake wrap - the beef melted in your mouth and the pancake was perfectly crispy.

Yelp
Food was underwhelming for the price. $15 for rice and 80% chives 20% mushrooms..in this economy...edamame was over seasoned and the dry noodles with short rib were lacked depth. Your money is better spend at food terminal.

Yelp
Look - vibes are cute enough and the staff is very kind and professional. Disclaimer: I went there for brunch and focused on the brunch menu. The food was so bad. We got the sesame noodles, scallion pancakes, soy milk + curler, egg tart, and a French toast. Curler was rock hard, worst sesame noodles of my life (I love sesame noodles), overpriced egg tart ($7 for a tiny tart is insane), scallion pancakes were just ok, but the sauce was good. French toast was eh. I like to try new restaurants with my friends so this is bound to happen, but I eat for enjoyment and this left me feeling empty.

Yelp
tldr; expensive, slow, and just okay. we went on a weekend morning when there were more staff than patrons. we were "seated," given a qr code to scan to see the menu, and then eventually someone came out to take our order. Clearly, some employees were being trained, however, the experience was super confusing. We just wanted to get coffee and pastries, but despite knowing what we wanted as soon as we ordered , it still took us over 30 min just to get our coffees. Before our drinks came , we had two other servers also come by to give us drink coasters (?), but when the drinks came they had coasters already. We drank our coffees quickly, as they were quite small, and still hadn't received our pastries. The coffee was fine - i had the wang wang latte which was a nice balance of sweet and savoury, and my partner had a disgusting melon flavored drink, which we had been warned was "unique." Frankly, it was undrinkable, but we were warned. eventually, i just got up and asked to pay and have our pastries to go as i didn't want to keep waiting for them. Not sure how much longer it would have taken if we had waited. While the croissant was reasonably tasty, the egg tart i received was still frozen in the center and not worth the price. i think there is an expectation that if you put pastries on nice plates and bring it to the guest it justifies paying $7 for an egg tart, but i don't think that holds here. overall, i think lucky star is trying too hard and failing to deliver a full service experience during breakfast when they need to focus on providing value and efficiency. I can't comment on their bar or lunch/dinner food but i definitely don't see myself coming back for coffee.

Yelp
Great vibe! Food was delicious. Good drink options. Odd location on ground floor of an office building.

Yelp
we had the duck fat scallion pancakes and 3 cup chicken dish. The flavor was exceptional. The service was exceptional and the ambiance relaxing. Perfect for a first meeting, remote work, a relaxing day out. I will be returning. Only con would be parking is $4 an hr or $18 full day. But it you plan to cafe hop in the area, its very nice either way.

Yelp
My initial impression was that I was confused what kind of establishment it was - whether it was intended to be a cafe for studying, or a sit down restaurant. An example of this is that it wasn't clear where we should go to speak to someone to get a table. Despite setting a reservation, the establishment didn't have a table reserved for us to sit at. The employee at the bar just told us to find a table and they would come to us. There were few tables available, which poses the question of why the reservation was necessary. Overall, the service was decent in terms of the staff and their capacity - it was obvious that they were very overwhelmed and understaffed, but still doing the best that they could. But the confusion in the front of the house led to a poor dining experience, which I will not return for. We repeatedly had issues with putting in our order and getting our order, but the staff was very friendly and I believe did their best. In addition, the food was not worth the price and I will not return for it. There were some good components, but overall, it tasted like food that I could acquire from a fast food restaurant. The flavor was not balanced and very overwhelming. The portions were small, and even missing components, which was due to a lack of supply but was not mentioned when the order was put in. One thing I will note is that their drinks, although on the expensive side, were pretty good. The drinks were better than the food. Overall, I would absolutely not recommend this restaurant to others. I would return in the far future to give it another try because I understand they are a newly opened restaurant. But based on this experience, I would not be willing to give it a third chance.

Yelp
For starters, let's talk about how beautiful warm and cozy the mood is! The food was very delicious and memorable! Highly recommend the beef noodle soup and the daiquiri. Can't wait to see how well this place grows. We will definitely be adding Lucky star to our round up when visiting the west side.

Yelp
Drinks were great! Especially loved the B-Side cocktail with the fruit roll up in it and the Winter Lucky Star iced latte. Good ambience and decor
