No-nonsense counter-serve restaurant dishing up burgers, fried chicken & milkshakes.
"If you hate dealing with bones, Lucy’s is the answer. This Uptown restaurant serves their fried chicken thighs sans skeleton, making for a more streamlined chicken feast. And the breaded pieces are massive, looking like tenders that have never skipped a gym day. They’re great with any of Lucy’s different dippings sauces, but with already plenty of savory spicy seasoning going on, we don’t mind eating them as is." - john ringor, adrian kane
"If you love fried chicken but hate dealing with bones, this colorful counter-service spot in Uptown is the answer. Lucy’s serves their fried chicken thighs sans skeleton, making for a streamlined bird feast. The spicy fried pieces look like tenders that have never skipped a gym day, and you can also get them sandwiched between brioche buns. Most people sitting on the bright yellow stools are digging into Lucy’s chicken, but if you’re more of a red meat person, you can also find comfort in their solid smashburgers and pulled pork sandwich. photo credit: Kim Kovacik" - John Ringor
"Lucy’s is on the corner of Wilson and Broadway, but you can’t miss it. This diner is painted with colorful rainbows, peace signs, and a redheaded logo that might remind you of Wendy. They keep it simple, with a short menu focusing on perfectly seasoned fried chicken sandwiches, burgers, fries, and milkshakes. We can confirm, their dedication to the art of diner food has definitely paid off." - adrian kane, courtney sprewer, veda kilaru, john ringor
"Some may argue that Lucy’s has the best fried chicken sandwich in town. But the burgers are also worthy of celebration, particularly the Jucy Lucy stuffed with molten cheese, the hand-cut fries, and the milkshakes. Lucy’s originally started life as a food truck and then set down roots in pinup-filled restaurants in Humboldt Park and Uptown. This is American diner food at its finest." - Eater Staff
"Lucy's, known for its retro burger spot in Humboldt Park, is opening a new location in Uptown featuring a similar menu with additions like salads and breakfast sandwiches. The new venue will include a bar offering boozy milkshakes and will draw on a midcentury pin-up girl aesthetic with murals by local artist Jeff Zimmerman. The restaurant will seat around 50, with 10 spots at the bar, and is located beside the Wilson Red and Purple Line station, close to the Riviera Theater and Green Mill lounge." - Naomi Waxman
