The 13 Best Coffee Shops In Nashville - Nashville - The Infatuation

"Matryoshka coffee is good any time, but especially during those weeks when you barely made it to Wednesday. The bright, colorful interior and Gas Station cappuccino, a double shot with spiced vanilla brown sugar and half and half, will perk you right up. You can count the number of tables among the shelves of retro-inspired merchandise on one hand, and you can feel the love in the room from the moment you enter. The owners were on a mission to create a space where everyone knows they’re welcome, and there’s a bonafide fan club sipping confetti cubans and sea salt caramel lattes called the Diane Keaton as a result." - ann walczak

The Best Coffee Shops in Nashville | Eater Nashville

"This irreverent, playful coffee shop is the colorful creation of owner Abbey Chiavari and her husband Jake, who opened this micro cafe (it clocks in at 300 square feet so don’t plan to camp out here with a laptop) on the south side. The coffee shop occupies the first third of their space within the Alloy apartment complex, with Jake’s coffee technician company, Technico, taking up the rest — hence their nod to Russian nesting dolls with the name Matroyshka. The cafe’s bright, rainbow-hued decor imbues the space with a sense of joy that goes perfectly with the filter coffee, teas, and specialty drinks (like the Confetti Cuban with sweetened condensed milk, espresso, sprinkles, and edible glitter) on the menu. The food menu is simple: instant ramen, cereal with milk, or gluten-free goodies from Morsel." - Ellen Fort

Such a beautiful and welcoming space! Bright, airy, and clearly created with care — it feels safe and affirming, especially for the LGBTQIA+ community. The coffee is absolutely delicious, the staff are kind and thoughtful, and the merch is super cute too. So glad I found this place!

Google
Gluten free friends, another place for you! Marty's is bright, cheery, friendly, and inclusive. Their coffee choices are delicious, clever and most are GF! There are GF breakfast choices like muffins and donuts. I had the coffee cake muffin and the edible glitter topped Gas Station Capp. Glitter! Highly recommend a visit!

Google
Got the Diane Keaton and I stg if that’s the last thing I ever drank I’d be a happy man. I almost never order lattes but WOW. Equally sweet and could fully taste the espresso. I feel like that almost never happens. On top of that, incredible decor that makes it feel like an art museum. Incredibly kind staff and clearly a space that supports community. Overall the shop feels intentional and meaningful in not only the drinks but the space itself and it has character. I’d be here everyday if it were closer but I’ll certainly come back as often as I can.

I’m a picky coffee drinker and am happy to report theirs was delicious. I got a regular drip and can only imagine how good things got from there! The ambiance is beyond cute! It’s extremely cheerful and casual. The art is interesting and kept my attention for quite a while. It’s a nice place to pop into or stay awhile. What a gem!

Oh my goodness! Where do I begin?!? The atmosphere was adorable, the staff was phenomenal, and our coffee was absolutely amazing! We traveled in from out of town and I wanted to find the best coffee in Nashville… well I think I did!!! We CANNOT wait to be back.

Google
I love this place! It's so bright and fun, and the staff is super friendly. Highly recommend the Confetti Cuban if you like your coffee sweet. Pastries are fresh. I love the location and the decor, 10/10 recommend for anyone looking for good coffee shops in Nashville.

Yelp
This cozy space exudes charm, maximizing every inch with vibrant decor and thoughtful layout. But beyond its aesthetic appeal and Instagramability, it consistently delivers exceptional coffee, featuring intriguing seasonal flavors that never disappoint. My favorites have been a sweet potato latte for the fall, and dirt pudding latte for earth day! But most importantly -- the staff embodies warmth and hospitality, ensuring a welcoming experience for ***all***. While it's unfortunately not on my side of town so I don't come here enough to be a true "regular" -- every time I come here, it's clear to me that this shop has created a beautiful community for so many people of Nashville.

Yelp
Great drinks and an amazing atmosphere. Service was quick and polite and actually asked how I spell my name. Got an Iced Gas Station Capp and it was a good coffee.

Yelp
I was really excited to check this store out because of the colorful decor and how close it was to my apartment but I was a little underwhelmed as I did not realize the space is so small. This is not a shop to sit and hang out at unfortunately if you're looking for a seat inside. This is more of a to go coffee shop to me to pop in and then leave with your order. The coffee itself was delicious so I was happy about that. I wish there were some food options but with it being a small space, I understand why there isn't. I was glad to check it off of my list though!

Yelp
Super cute place located in the allow condominium community. It's kind of hidden so you have to be very intentional with trying to find it. This place is so colorful and full of energy, the moment you walk in you feel uplifted. The staff was super welcoming and the coffee is fantastic! I had the Joanna which is a honey and cinnamon iced latte. It was delicious, it was hard not to drink it all in one sip. I am looking forward to visit this location again very soon!

Yelp
A gem of a find! This woman-owned coffee shop not only serves up delicious, unique and glittering drinks but also is a safe and inclusive space that literally sparks joy by its whole vibe - from decor, mood, to the kind and engaging baristas. It's a micro cafe so know it may be hard to find a spot but if you do, you'll love it. There is a few outdoor seats available too. Parking can be tricky but never had an issue. Overall, I am in love with their creative concoctions, especially the "DIANE KEATON (IN SOMETHING'S GOTTA GIVE)," followed by the Joanna, and in 3rd place the Gas station capp. Try them all!

Yelp
Small little coffee shop with a fun vibe and great coffee. Will definitely try the snacks next time. Service was nice and very fast. Parking in the circle or around back. Only complaint was there wasn't a bathroom.

Yelp
Such a cute coffee shop! So many fun and festive drinks to try. I got this pink drink right before Valentine's day and loved it. The employees were also very sweet. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
When I was in Nashville recently to see Taylor Swift, my friend who is a local brought me to Matryoshka. She is a huge fan of theirs and they had special Taylor themed drinks we had to try. The shop is a bit off the beaten path but easy to access. We tried all 4 of the Taylor drinks and loved all of them! My favorite was the Big Sur but they were all delicious. Very small seating area inside but there's a few outside tables and a nice grassy area if you bring a blanket to sit on. I will definitely be back my next time in Nashville!

Yelp
This coffee shop was worth the trip to find it! We walked in and it felt like a small town coffee shop in a coastal town. The staff greeted us and immediately included us in the conversation they were having. So friendly and fun-loving, it's exactly what you want in a local coffee shop. The coffee was delicious and their seasonal drinks were so unique. I can't wait to go back and try everything on the menu. The Gas Station Capp was like the perfect cappuccino you get on an early road trip from a gas station, but 1000x better. It even had edible glitter on top, so fun. The Kettle Corn Capp only comes hot and it's the perfect cozy drink with a hint of saltiness. They serve a selection of pastries that are savory or sweet. I recommend asking them to heat it up for the fresh out of the oven feel! They have a new fan here!

Yelp
Matryoshka is everything you want in a trendy coffee shop. Its bright, eclectic walls and natural light invite you in, the friendly and fast baristas make you feel welcome, and the perfectly paired furniture pieces invite you to stay a while. I enjoyed a drip coffee, despite their many espresso options. It was rich and smooth. There is extremely limited seating, with only 4 tables for two inside, and a few tables lining the shop outside. It is tucked away in an industrial park, and I selfishly hope this continues forward as a hidden gem... though anyone who is lucky enough to find this place will want to return! Atmosphere/Vibe: 5/5 (Bright, exciting, fun, welcoming) Food/Drinks: 5/5 (Standard, quality coffee) Service: 5/5 (Friendly, fast - seemed to enjoy their jobs) Cleanliness: 5/5

Yelp
This coffee shop popped up just a 5 minute walk from our neighborhood so we decided to give it a try. Really fantastic coffee and a really welcoming staff. The two employees that were working seemed to be stoked to make some coffee and serve customers. The shop is really bright on the inside, and they have a few outside spots for seating. The Coffee: Confetti Cuban- Really enjoyed the cuban with a bountiful amount of sweetness, but beware that it has glitter that will stick to your lips a little bit so that wasn't ideal as a man haha The Joana- Delicious and had a thick almost marshmallow-esque cream on the top which I was a big fan of. I think that would be my order next-go-round. Cant wait to come back and try some of the pastries which looked delicious. This could be our go-to for a quick coffee with it being so close to us.!

Yelp
Wow! Matryoshka Coffee was hands down my best coffee experience in all of Nashville. Coming from a former barista, I've noticed the coffee scene in Nashville is woefully serious, HOWEVER, owner Abby and her amazing team (notable members McKenna and Ashley who were fantastically sweet) make coffee fun, exciting, and tasteful again. The ambiance in the shop added so much to the experience, with their maximalist decor adding a colorful pop to the shop but never once outshining the coffee or the friendliness of the baristas. My experience at Matryoshka is one to write home about and will keep me coming back for more.

Yelp
It's a very neat coffee shop, small but delightful. Well designed with the space. Plus, the area is convenient for parking outside and walking around. Great coffee!

Yelp
So is a bright and colorful coffee shop that's new to Nashville. I initially found this place on Instagram and was excited to bring my boyfriend here to try the colorful drinks that were pictured. The location is easy to find, but parking is a little weird. There are apartments right next to the building so we just parked in one of the available spots. There was still snow on the ground so I'm not sure if any of the parking spots were reserved. The shop itself is very bright and colorful and seems like a great place to take pictures in, but, it is TINY. There were small tables for groups of 2 to sit, but there was a line waiting for drinks so I would imagine it would be awkward if you were stuck at one of the tables that's near the order line. It was also very cold inside, which I was a little surprised by. By the time we got there, the pastries were already sold out which was disappointing. Neither of us were in the mood to eat ramen in the morning, and since it was so cold outside cereal didn't seem appetizing either. At the counter, the lady who made our drinks suggested we order it to go because there was no where to sit. She was friendly and made our drinks quickly. As for the drinks...we weren't impressed with the flavors. My boyfriend ordered the gas station cappuccino and he said the small size of the drink didn't allow him to enjoy the flavor, which didn't have a strong vanilla flavor. The confetti Cuban was cute, but not very tasty. The sprinkles sank to the bottom and was the only bit of flavor that I tasted. We had high hopes for this place, and maybe we'll try it out again in a few months, but overall we weren't impressed. If I went back, I would try a simple latte or hot chocolate and not try a special drink.

Brad B.

Yelp
This place is dope and has some of the best coffee in town. They don't deserve the most recent 3-star review because some donut didn't realize this was a small space when checking out the photos. 9 times out of 10 I'll drink black coffee, but if I'm feeling frisky this is where I'll be.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been wanting to come to Matryoshka for the longest time and I finally made the time to come out and support them. Tucked away behind some apartments/condos right next to the Fairgrounds is this really cute coffee shop that all you aesthetic lovers should visit. I went with the Confetti Cuban drink, mostly because it has sprinkles and glitter on top. Like, how could I not choose that? It was delicious and the baristas are super friendly and definitely put lots of care into their drink making. Definitely a 5/5 stars for me

Yelp
Matryoshka is a tiny little coffee shop nestled within an apartment complex. Parking is easy - either from one of the spaces directly in front of the shop in a roundabout-style lot or in the lot adjacent to the apartment complex. I almost missed the shop itself if not for a bright pink sign advertising coffee to the left of where I parked. On the weekends, Instagram shows that they can have a line out the door, but on a weekday morning, I had no wait (and there were only a few people inside.) Wanted to insert some joy into my workday and Matryoshka promises that with lattes adorned with confetti sprinkles, glitter, and cuteness. Their menu is small but hit at multiple things I wanted to try and I ended up leaving with two drink: the Confetti Cuban and a non-coffee all-pink concoction I would easily use to win over the three-year-olds in my life. You can also get lucky-charms-style cereal or instant ramen here and there are exactly 4 two-person tables inside and 2 two-person tables outside of you wanted to hang out and work. There is also a patch of grass in front of the shop that I think would be ideal for chilling on a blanket in warmer weather. The cute decor and somewhat gimmick-yness of sprinkles on coffee might confuse you that their drinks were all style and no substance, but make no mistake - their coffee is genuinely awesome. Perfectly made Cuban (espresso + condensed milk) that wasn't overly sweet. High quality beans. The Charlotte was a rose milk concoction that I was less into, but was also impressed that it wasn't loaded with sugar. If this location weren't so out of my way, I'd make it a more regular addition to my morning routine. But for now, will treat it as an occasional joyful pick-me up and potential warm weather hang with my pup.

Yelp
The coffee shop is secluded but super cute. The perfect study spot with minimal sound from surrounding areas. Our coffee had a good sweetness level. The employees were nice and seemed to enjoy working there.

Yelp
I brought a first date here, sat outside for 3 hours and enjoyed every second of it. The interior is SO cute, the coffee has freaking GLITTER and it seems to be super queer friendly. I'm a huge fan.

Derek W.

Yelp
Wonderful people, great coffee. If you want a coffee shop the size of an airplane hangar this isn't the one for you. It's a warm, intimate place with limited seating.

Yelp
This place was super cute with some unique coffee options! It's definitely a picturesque spot, even the coffee was pretty!

Yelp
This coffee shop is so cute! The space is filled with bright colors, friendly staff and delicious drinks. They always have fun, creative drink specials. Their merch area is fun and trendy. This coffee shop is local and vegan friendly! However, FYI space inside is limited. I hope to one day see them in a bigger space because the demand is high due to them being a great business! PARKING: Outside lot and street parking HOURS: Sunday - Closed Monday - Closed Tuesday - 8AM-2PM Wednesday - 8AM-2PM Thursday - 8AM-2PM Friday - 8AM-2PM Saturday - 8AM-2PM

Yelp
Visited this very Instagram-able coffee shop for the second time this week. It's tucked away in a hidden spot off of Nolensville Pike in Nashville and I'd call if there's a "tiny home" version of coffee shops, this is it! Plenty of parking which is amazing to see in Nashville, and the interior of the shop is very pink/colorful. The menu offers a variety of specialty coffees/espresso, but of course I had to get the Confetti Cuban which edible glitter/sprinkles! It was pretty solid from a taste perspective (nothing incredibly unique) but it was absolutely adorable. The baristas were kind and quick with their service! I want to return and try some of their other menu items, all with fun names.
google avatar

Luke R.

Yelp
fire coffee and the employees and owner were dope, definitely gonna become a normal spot of mine, super cute inside as well.

Yelp
If I lived in Nashville I would be here weekly. The coffee was amazing but the experience was better. Everyone was SO nice!! The space is so cute and clean. I love that it is a bit out of the way and not super busy. Highly recommend!!

Yelp
Matryoshka easily gets a 5 star rating from me. Easily one of my favorite coffee shops in Nashville with some of the best coffee. First, the vibes of this place are immaculate. You are welcomed with incredibly fun colors and a cozy seating environment. Right outside the coffee shop is some grass and you can bring a picnic blanket (or use one they have in the coffee shop) to have a nice outdoor hang. Second, the people are excellent. I've never had a bad experience engaging with the people and it's awesome that they even made the effort to learn and remember my name over the few times I have gone. I think that's awesome and I love the personal feel. Last, but not least, the menu. They have an incredibly simple menu and that is one aspect that I really appreciate since it shows that they truly take pride in their coffee...and as expected, it's wonderful. Fun fact, I believe their Americano prices are cheaper than their drip...so why not get something completely fresh? The team there is constantly experimenting with new, fun drinks and from what I have had so far, every drink has been a knockout. I will continue to support them as a company and am always looking forward to my next visit.

Jacqueline S.

Yelp
I love this coffee shop! It is a little out of the way but it is in a nice quiet location away from the city. They have the cutest and most colorful set up out of all of the coffee shops i have tried in Nashville. They have such creative coffees and it was always a treat to go there! Definitely try a coffee out of your comfort zone if you come here! It will be well worth it.
google avatar

Tori O.

Yelp
My fav cute little coffee shop in all of Nashville! But you can see how cute it is from the photos. Underrated for the quality of their coffee. Taste? Mmm. I love how they source their beans. (Coming from an ex-barista, too). Also, their staff are so sweet and genuine. After only stopping by a handful of times over the span of a few weeks, they remember my name! They also seem to have built such a strong community with their regulars.
google avatar

Roxy M.

Yelp
A fun place to go with friends. There isn't a lot of seating but there's a large lawn beside the shop where you can sit on a blanket. The cashier was too sweet, he really elevated the experience. Coffee was good. Love how fun they make the drinks, it's an experience you can't find anywhere else in Nashville.
google avatar

Maddie H.

Yelp
Matryoshka Coffee is a cute little hidden cafe in South Nashville. The shop only has a handful of tables so be prepared to take your coffee to go. The barista who helped me was delightful. As i waited I admired the bright colors and fun atmosphere here. I ordered the confetti Cuban which is impossible not to be happy when you look at the edible glitter and sprinkles on top. A fun treat!
google avatar

Nicolette T.

Yelp
Wow, what a gem! This is one of Nashville's best coffee shops. Locally owned, with an amazing, seasonal coffee menu. The owners have created a beautiful space with vibrant colors and design. You cannot help but be happy when you enter this space. They have a small food menu, with rotating vegan pastries. They are amazing. I cannot say enough good things about Matryoshka. Go and check it out yourself. Ideally, come early in the AM or on weekdays, because this is a popular spot with VERY limited space inside.
google avatar

Ahmed A.

Yelp
After hearing about Matryoshka and seeing all the beautiful photos - I HAD to stop by and see it for myself. Word of caution, this is a micro-cafe, so seating is small, come early or grab to-go if you are in a hurry. Parking can also be tricky, but there should be plenty of space. That being said, their coffee is AMAZING! the drinks are extremely creative, the staff is so warm and kind, and the space is so photogenic! I enjoyed my time here, and will be coming back very frequently!
google avatar

Laura G.

Yelp
Super random location but worth it and very peaceful. It's kind of next to an apartment complex in an industrial area. There is a small indoor area with adorable tables and a colorful mural on the wall. It extends to the patio for seating and there is a large grassy area. The baristas were so nice. They asked me how to pronounce my name correctly and offered us a pastel blanket to sit in the sun in the grass. We got our drinks immediately and the cream in them was so rich and flavorful. I got the gas station capp and my friend got the cortado add glitter. We both loved ours. I also got lucky charms but they had Cinnamon Toast Crunch and some vegan pastries as well. I'm obsessed with their aesthetic and the glassware is so pretty. No dogs inside but they can come on the grass. Will be back.

Victoria H.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place! The coffee was great, especially with the edition of the adorable confetti sprinkles! While the space is a little small, it is still so fun, bright and colorful to sit in! Highly recommend!
google avatar

Ben P.

Yelp
This place is awesome. My girlfriend loved her Oreo coffee and even though I don't like coffee the limoncello drink was amazing. And the vibe of the place and the staff are both great. Definitely recommend
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
Matryoshka Coffee may be unassuming from the outside, but its interior is bright and fun, and the coffee is top-notch. I kept my order simple with an Americano but was very impressed with the depth and flavor of the espresso. Although I didn't order it, the Confetti Cuban (a concoction made for Instagram) looked delicious. This place also has the added bonus of rotating selection of cereals! Between that, the tasty drinks, and the colorful atmosphere, and Matryoshka will definitely be added to my coffee rotation. One note: seating inside is very limited, so keep that in mind if you have a big group that wants to sit inside -- you may need a backup plan.
google avatar

Elizabeth B.

Yelp
Such a cute little shop tucked away in the hills. Matryoshka has leaned into celebrating our inner child with bright colors, cereal bowls and yes, edible glitter. Their seasonal coffee flavors are vegan accessibility are what keep me coming back. It's a lovely spot to meet with a friend or answer a few emails. I have hopes for them expanding someday to a bigger space!
google avatar

Casey I.

Yelp
I love Matryoshka so much! Everything from their coffee to what they stand for as people. Their menu is on the smaller side but still has everything you need--everything from the classics to one of their fun creations! I always make a point to stop by on a nice day so that I can enjoy their space outside as well!
google avatar

Chae C.

Yelp
Came here with friends while heading to a waterfall. Cute location and lots of people enjoying the weather and drinks. Got maple matcha
google avatar

Billy R.

Yelp
Perhaps the finest cup of coffee I've had in Nashville! Don't really know what else to say other than I can't wait to go back and try another of their specialty drinks.
google avatar

Sydni V.

Yelp
So fun. Love the staff. Love the ambiance. Great coffee. Amazing merch. You must go. 10/10.
google avatar

Brooke S.

Yelp
A great little coffee shop. Note that it is smaller and there are no outlets so it is not work from home friendly. It is a bright and welcoming space. I had the pink matcha which was small but delicious.
google avatar

Beth W.

Yelp
This is the cutest coffee shop! Live their fun, colorful vibe. The imaginative coffee drinks are excellent & the barista is awesome. Definitely worth popping into for a visit--it will brighten your day!
google avatar

Janeth D.

Yelp
The ambiance and employees were just great! I loved that they took the time to ask for my name and address me with my name! I got there seasonal drink and it was made to perfection. It had the perfect amount of peppermint!

Leskie T.

Yelp
This little shop is like a grownup coffee playhouse. It's colorful, cheerful, and serves up magical matcha lattes reminding you of vacationing leprechauns or even OZ. If you know, you know. It's tiny, so plan to not spend the day at one of their coveted tables or the emperor subjects may be displeased.

Brittney W.

Yelp
I love this micro-cafe! The best decor, best drinks and best smiling faces to make them! They get their pastries from a local bakery and always make the drinks look so pretty. Such a fun atmosphere and they offer blankets if you want to sit in the grass outside the cafe.
google avatar

Whitney S.

Yelp
This place is tiny but it's adorable and the coffee is good! A little pricey for what you get, but the confetti Cuban is fun and delicious!

Yelp
This is a MUST VISIT if you are in Nashville! If you are staying near downtown it is worth the Uber ride or drive! I first learned about this coffee shop from watching it being built together! The owner documented its construction! It was so cool to visit the finished shop and it was even better than I dreamed! Seriously this is the most colorful and fun coffee shop I have ever been to! The colorfully decorated mirror and gorgeous murals on the walls will make you instantly happy when you see them! The coffee is beyond fantastic- there are so many fun choices including glitter and confetti coffee! I tried the Cuban confetti coffee and the Gascap which I highly recommend! They also have ramen, cereal and baked goods which I didn't try but looked SO good! I HIGHLY recommend visiting this shop on your next trip to Nashville or even making a trip just to visit it( Yes it's that awesome!). The staff and owner are so sweet and friendly and make the experience so wonderful! Visit this coffee shop it will make your day!
