This historic tavern, a local gem since 1829, offers great food and drinks in a cozy, old-school vibe, perfect for fans of Goodfellas.
"Neir’s claims to be the oldest continually operating bar in NYC. It’s also the only place with a shrine to Mae West—who lived nearby—and a variety of Goodfellas memorabilia. (Certain scenes were shot here.) Today, the place is one part tourist attraction, two parts friendly neighborhood pub, with an antique tap system and a thick house burger topped with something called Goodfella sauce." - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah
"If you were around in the 19th century, you might have known it as the Blue Pump Room, or maybe the Old Abbey. Open since 1829, this Woodhaven bar has gone by several names, and was at one time frequented by a young Mae West. With its tin ceiling and antique lamps, Neir’s Tavern is worth a sightseeing trip, especially if you’re into the movie Goodfellas, parts of which were filmed here. If you aren’t into touristy things, that’s fine. The place mostly feels like a quality, down-to-earth neighborhood hang that just happens to be implausibly old. Swing by, get a beer poured from the old-school tap system, and try the signature Goodfella Burger, which has nothing to do with the movie, but is delicious nonetheless. photo credit: Bryan Kim" - Bryan Kim

Tony had a beer with Loycent “Loy” Gordon, the owner of the tavern, and New York City Fire Department lieutenant. The movie "Goodfellas" filmed scenes in this bar.
"Neir's Tavern in Woodhaven has received a $40,000 grant from American Express and the National Trust for Historic Preservation to help the 191-year-old Queens institution stay afloat this year." - Erika Adams
