Oniku Karyu

"Haruka Katayanagi’s love of beef fairly tumbles from a menu sure to tickle the fancy of Black wagyu beef lovers. The presentation of char-grilled chateaubriand sets the mood. The kaiseki does full justice to wagyu irrespective of genre, as sushi, stew and cutlet sandwiches are all on offer. In combination with sea urchin and abalone, it is a taste of luxury. As the beef cuisine brings smiles to guests’ faces, the flawless service of the owner-chef and Team Karyu is a joy to behold." - Michelin Inspector

Tokyo Restaurant Oniku Karyu Uses the Best Wagyu Beef in the World - Eater

"At Oniku Karyu, chef Haruka Katayanagi exclusively uses kuroge wagyu. The restaurant features wagyu beef from all over Japan, but they are all of the kuroge variety, known to be the best breed of cattle in the world. Chef Katayanagi shows us how he makes different dishes from each cut, with painstaking attention to detail." - Terri Ciccone

Very nice restaurant to visit. The staff is really polite and introduces every meal to you. After a warm welcome by the chef we were amazed with several dishes. All dishes had beef as the main karakter except for the dessert, which was a strawberry dish with home made ice-cream. Incredible and very tasty experience.

This was our first Michelin Star experience in our lives and I can say it was an experience of a lifetime. The staff (especially Jenie) was so educated on everything from the dishware to the regions of Tokyo where the truffles were harvested and we were very impressed. The chef has been in business for 17 years and you could believe it his his life passion. He was so happy to have us and we took pictures with him at the end. I hope to be back one day. Absolutely stellar experience.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Oniku Karyu in Tokyo, and let me tell you—this place is incredible. Every cut of wagyu was unbelievably tender, melting in our mouths like butter. The flavors were rich, deep, and absolutely unforgettable. On top of that, the chef was warm, welcoming, and engaging, making us feel right at home. He took the time to chat with us, sharing his passion for wagyu, which made the experience even more special. If you’re in Tokyo and looking for some of the best wagyu you’ll ever have, Oniku Karyu is a must-visit.

We frequent Michelin starred restaurants and have to say that this restaurant is among the best that we have been to! The quality of food is unbeatable, we really like the sukiyaki and chateaubriand. The combination of the sauces is very interesting, the mix of yuzu with fatty meat works perfectly to reduce the greasiness after taste; the ginger soy sauce adds interesting saltiness and tangy taste to the meat. We simply love it! Would recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly to every wagyu lover, this restaurant is the perfect testament to high quality food with highly skilled chef.

Outstanding experience last night, both in terms of the quality and variety of different dishes but also the service. All the staff were helpful, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. If you want to eat Kobe beef in Ginza come here. We loved it ❤️.

My experience at this outstanding restaurant in Japan surpassed every expectation. The beef, a highlight of the meal, was exceptionally tender and succulent, practically melting in the mouth with every bite. However, it wasn't just the beef that left a lasting impression; each dish presented was a delightful surprise, exceeding what I had imagined in both taste and presentation. The chef, alongside their crew, welcomed us with warmth and kindness, contributing to an special atmosphere. The level of service and hospitality encountered here is unparalleled, certainly a rarity, if not completely absent, in my experiences across the U.S. This establishment isn't just a restaurant; it's a testament to culinary excellence and gracious hosting. Without a doubt, it stands as the best dining experience I've ever had.
