Nestled in Wynwood, Otto & Pepe offers a vibrant twist on Italian dining with fresh homemade pasta, a charming garden, and a stellar wine selection.
"Miami’s only “pasta bar” is laser-focused on providing the most user-friendly pasta experience possible. With a menu divided by white sauce pasta and red sauce pasta, along with a “more pasta” and a “not pasta” section, fans of simplicity and Italian fare —even those on a gluten-free diet — have plenty to choose from." - Eater Staff, Alona Martinez
"Otto & Pepe calls itself a pasta bar. That makes us picture an omakase-style counter where we get handed the kind of exceptional noodles that’d bring us a little closer to la dolce vita. But that’s not Otto & Pepe. The pastas here range from good to oversauced or clumpy. Instead, it’s best to think of this place as a solid last-minute dinner option in Wynwood. photo credit: Otto & Pepe photo credit: Otto & Pepe photo credit: Otto & Pepe It’s mostly counter seating inside, and they have a patio out back that’s better for larger parties. If you do find yourself eating here, stick to the orecchiette alla norma and tiramisu. You can also pick up a Barolo from the adjoining wine shop to pair with whatever trashy show you’ve been binging at home. But just know that there are much better pasta options in Miami—and even in Wynwood. Food Rundown video credit: Virginia Otazo Panzanella Con Tartare Di Pesce This is just big chunks of celery, peppers, crutons, and branzino. You could do better at home by throwing the ingredients into a bowl and calling it a day. Don’t spend $26 on this. video credit: Julia Malave Orecchiette Alla Norma This is a pasta we can stand behind. These thumb-sized scoops are great at catching thick tomato sauce and fried eggplant. It’s not a huge serving, but it’s hearty. video credit: Virginia Otazo Tagliolino Cacio E Pepe A classic cacio e pepe has just four ingredients: pasta, water, pepper, and pecorino. It should be rich, but not a clumpy mess, and it shouldn’t be swimming in sauce either. Tragically, this sauce is lumpier than your ankles after an ant attack. video credit: Julia Malave Tiramisu The mascarpone on this bittersweet dessert is fluffy, and the lady fingers are soaked but not soggy. It’s a proper tiramisu. We’d come back here just for this." - Virginia Otazo
"Wynwood is becoming an epicenter Italian restaurants, but Otto & Pepe is the most fun of the bunch. They make all of their pasta from scratch, from the stuffed cannelloni to some very good orecchiette alla norma with thumb-sized scoops that catch thick tomato sauce and fried eggplant. Order that dish at the bar, or lounge on the patio furniture in the courtyard and split some charcuterie and wine off the outdoor menu. (No pasta outside.) Wynwood is in constant need of more upscale-casual places like this." - ryan pfeffer, virginia otazo, mariana trabanino
"Wynwood is the epicenter of the whole Italian trend, and Otto & Pepe is the most fun of the bunch. It calls itself a “pasta bar” in an attempt to differentiate itself from the million other similar restaurants that opened in the last six months. But all you need to know is that they make all of their pasta from scratch, from the stuffed cannelloni to some very good orecchiette alla norma with thumb-sized dough scoops that catch thick tomato sauce and fried eggplant. Order that dish at the long bar, or lounge on the patio furniture in the courtyard and split some charcuterie and wine off the outdoor menu. (No pasta outside.) "The rate of overpriced tourist traps opening and closing in Wynwood is higher than the toilet paper turnover at Miami International Airport. So when an Italian restaurant with cartoon farfalle on the placemats and a menu full of $30 pastas comes to the neighborhood, we don’t have the highest hopes. But Otto And Pepe is a welcome surprise. They make all of their pasta from scratch, from the stuffed cannelloni to some very good orecchiette alla norma with thumb-sized dough scoops that catch thick tomato sauce and fried eggplant. Order that dish at the bar, or lounge on the patio furniture in the courtyard and split some charcuterie and wine off the outdoor menu. (No pasta outside.)
