Artistic Americana cuisine, cocktails, and local art with live music

"If the Mad Hatter owned a restaurant in Downtown Las Vegas, it would be Palate, with velvet chairs and oversized chandeliers fit for a fantasy ballroom. It’s the perfect setting for homestyle Southern food punched up with quirky, all-over-the-map influences. Think scallops with black garlic grits and fall-apart, soy-glazed charred short ribs. The cocktails are video-worthy, like the Lucy In The Sky, served in a mushroom-shaped glass next to a pile of steel wool that glimmers—yes, like diamonds—after it’s set on fire. The food makes for great fuel before or after a show at Swan Dive upstairs, and the brunch goes hard, too. Grab the Morning Glory board with banana french toast, pork belly, and foie gras cornbread, and cure your hangover (or just start the party all over again) with bottomless mimosas." - Emmy Kasten

"Sunday mornings at this new Arts District restaurant start with endless mimosas or rosé, plus light bites or sprawling boards for sharing. Inside a boldly designed dining room with shades of royal purple and faux trees, start with longganisa sliders and shrimp toast. Sweeten brunch up with caramel apple pancakes. Or go all in with a board like the morning glory that comes with banana bread French toast, potato rosti, pork belly, frittata, and foie cornbread. And the full cocktail menu — like the too-pretty-to-drink Rose — is on offer, too." - Janna Karel

"This downtown restaurant has happy hour Wednesday through Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. with $9 cocktails and $8 pork bao buns. But the best bet at Palate is $1 oysters every Wednesday from 3 to 10 p.m. They’re sourced from the east and west coast and served with grapefruit mignonette, vinegar, lemon and house sauce — though it’s limited to six per person." - Ryan Slattery, Janna Karel

"It Takes Two is the three-course menu that this funky downtown restaurant is serving for $79 per person. Internationally inspired highlights include pickled pears with cracklins’, prawn and salmon with saffron risotto, brisket, and New York strip with miso apple puree. For a romantic touch, add “The Rose” cocktail that comes with a rose to take home." - Emmy Kasten

"Chef Sterling Buckley, who previously helmed the kitchens at La Cave at the Wynn and Honey Salt in Summerlin, leads the menu with an eye for design in both the food and the dining room. The interior is bold: stark purple walls, faux trees, and flashy crystal chandeliers. Longannisa sliders come with a crunchy cucumber slaw that plays nicely with the fatty, salty Filipino sausage patty. The Lady in Green tosses thin slices of apple with prosciutto, cornbread croutons, and pistachios in a bright shishito vinaigrette with dollops of ricotta for a touch of coolness. Soy-charred short ribs are fall-apart tender, with a sticky glaze that calls for smooth bites of carrot puree. The hummingbird dessert is noted as a fun one — an array of spun sugar, banana bread, and cinnamon ice cream. Puppy happy hour brings pours of the eye-catching Rose cocktail (vodka, elderflower liqueur, hibiscus, and a namesake rose) on the dog-friendly patio. — Janna Karel, Eater Vegas Editor" - Eater Staff
