"Patti Ann’s is the latest restaurant, following Franklin Becker’s Press Club Grill, now called B&L Diner (opening November 12) to turn into a diner. It is one of several pivots Greg Baxtrom has operated at this storefront’s address in Prospect Heights. In 2021, Baxtrom announced it would be home to a bakery called Evi’s Bäckerei, before renaming it Patti Ann’s, after his mother, where he served retro-Midwestern fare like pigs in a blanket, port wine cheese balls, meatloaf, and mostaccioli (ziti). Baxtrom tells Eater that as a diner, with its all-day breakfast format, the group may consider another rebrand down the line. For now, though, the restaurant will remain Patti Ann’s." - Melissa McCart

Not only does dinner here start at 3pm, but the Prospect Heights restaurant from the chef behind Olmsted serves Midwestern comfort food. And if you’re not sure what that means, just know there’s both a giant mozzarella stick and a giant blooming onion on the menu. See also: a smashburger, Chicago tavern-style pizza, and a kid’s breakfast on the brunch menu where scrambled eggs are the star. "If you go to Olmsted in Prospect Heights for small, seasonal plates in a backyard, you go to Patti Ann's—a casual, kid-friendly restaurant from the same team—for Midwestern comfort food. There's both a giant mozzarella stick and a giant blooming onion on the menu, as well as a smashburger, Chicago tavern-style pizza, and a cocktail list with a drink named Spirit Week. Essentially, it's a reliable neighborhood spot that can satisfy you and every member of your family. And if you don't have time to sit down, know that they have a bakery adjacent to the restaurant where you can pick up a gravlax sando on an everything cruller.
