"When the daughter of Pimwara “Patty” Thongchua, owner of the Thai Joint, went vegetarian, she created this spot that serves meat- and fish sauce-free creations. Plumeria’s menu is filled with all the familiar Thai dishes, from pad thai to panang curry, and all vegan except for one vegetarian appetizer. The mock duck larb is a standout starter — lime and soy sauce-soaked seitan tossed with onions, chilies, cilantro, and a dusting of roasted rice powder." - Kelly Bone

"Vegan and vegetarian dishes headline the menu at this health-conscious Thai restaurant with locations in University Heights and Encinitas. Flavors are on point for many of their dishes and be sure to insist on the spice level you prefer when you order. A don’t-miss item is the pad see-ew— wide rice noodles sautéed with broccoli, carrots and cabbage. Try the pumpkin curry with eggplants and bamboo shoots as well." - Helen I. Hwang

Phenomenal tasting food! Crispy, flavorful, fresh, friendly service and the portion sizes match the price point. This is one of the best Vegetarian Thai places I’ve tried so far! They really have the consistency and flavors perfect. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu!

I was in San Diego for work and was brought to Plumeria by a friend who is vegan. I was really surprised by how fresh and tasty all the dishes were. The staff quickly seated us and or so diligent in checking at just the right amount of time with us on what we wanted next and got us the check as soon as possible. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The food was extremely fresh and the portions were much bigger than I expected. We had to take several containers home.

Had the best vegetarian dishes I’ve ever tried! Vegetarian duck is like no other! Atmosphere is great and staff are super friendly and attentive. Had the fried rice with duck and plum wine which paired very well with the rest of our food. Also had taro shake with coconut milk which wrapped up an overall amazing experience

Y’all Plumeria really has the best fried tofu I’ve ever had. No joke. We came for lunch and split this fried tofu and pad Thai dish. (Ok we also split the chicken satay and spring rolls, we were hungry.) It was SO MUCH food, we took home a ton and heated it up the next day for lunch (it was still delicious then too.) I loved that the entire restaurant is either vegan or vegetarian. It made ordering a breeze! We’ll definitely be back for more.

Good place for vegan and vegetarians. They have a great variety of options. The food was really good. We tried the thai cashew, yellow curry and thai samosas. The drinks were alright, I wouldn’t recommend them. Overall the food and the options make the trip worth it. You can also spice it up by letting your server know. We tried a 7/10 and it had a decent spice to it.

Yesterday I had small Tom yum soup, crispy cauliflower cups and Basi Thai. Even though my soup was different from what I expected, I really enjoyed the taste and healthy meal with broccoli, mushrooms and other veggies in it. Crispier cauliflower cups were also delightful I was thinking that I want to learn how to cook this yummy appetizer and how I can have a couple workshops with their chef 👩‍🍳. My main dish was also delicious, spicy 🌶 (and I only had 4 out of 10) and so so good heart quality made. Thank you for the restaurant for an amazing job!

Been here lot of times. If you are looking for vegetarian Thai place with good ambiance-this is it. Food taste is not always consistent and drinks are but sugary and not that great. Except that- decent place and try during Night time for better experience

Had an absolutely delicious meal here. So much good stuff on the menu, I don't think it's possible to be bored with this menu. The most outstanding dish was dessert. A spring roll of Cheesecake and banana. And that's saying something as the appetizers platter and main courses were worth coming back for already.

Yelp
What a gem! As someone with a wheat allergy and a love of Thai food, Plumeria checks all the boxes. To start, we got the appetizer sampler. Only the flower cups and salad rolls are gluten free. But if you are not wheat free, try the satay. It's incredible. The "samosas" are great too. For my main, I got the eggplant with fried tofu. My go to order at any Thai and this was one of the best. My dinner partner got the pumpkin curry with "chicken" and she raved about it. I'll definitely be back. The service was lovely. Just enough water fills to feel cared for. The ambiance is your traditional Thai with not too much.

Yelp
My GFVeggieFriend and I went for dinner on Saturday night. I love this neighborhood!! It's super cute to walk through. Parking can be tough, if you're not accustomed to city parking. But, the walk from most anywhere is flat. So, if you have mobility challenges especially, you should be ok, not a lot of obstacles. We walked in, we were immediately seated at a lovely quiet table. GFVeggieFriend has zher tried and true favorites, but it was my first time here in a long time. So I wanted to try it all!!!! We started with fresh spring rolls. Omg! The best or second best I have ever had. Love the peanut sauce too. For our entrees we ordered Tangerine Chicken and Spicy Noodle. We ate our meal "family style", each having both entrees. And this was an amazing combo!!! So tasty, great textures and combinations of flavors. If you didn't know it was vegan and GF -- you wouldn't know. We shared a pot of tea, Cocount Crème. This was a gorgeous tea. So aromatic with a beautiful flavor to match. I would recommend all of these selections to anyone! Our servers were attentive. The food was out super quick!!! And the ambiance was perfect for our gals dinner out, but would also be good for dates, and dinners with family.

Yelp
The food is amazing so delicious! When you go as a vegan you MUST get "Spicy Basil Vegan Chicken" it's 10/10. Food is delicious I highly recommend. Customer Service: I placed an order on uber eats, and this is my 3rd time getting it. The first time I ordered sauce on the side and it was crunchy greatness. The last time it was soggy mush. Whoever the lady was that answered the phone is rude as hell lol. Maybe she's having a rough month, but she didn't listen to anything. She simply said they're not doing it and hung up on me lol. Food = 10/10 Customer Service = take what you can get lol

Yelp
We really had a great time at Plumeria! I don't usually go for vegetarian food but the mock meat was so excellent I can definitely see myself going back again soon! We had a group of 8 and the staff was great about our drinks. I highly recommend the mock duck for any of the meals and I loved the yellow curry.

Sunny B.

Yelp
An all vegetarian Thai spot with delicious fake meat options. We were visiting from out of town and would 100% return if back in San Diego again. We tried the Tangerine with crispy chicken, ka pow with mock duck and mock duck noodle soup (all were delicious). The fake meat options were flavored and sauces/broth for all the dishes were tasty. The portions were large enough to take home for lunch the next day. Parking was tough, there is street parking only so you may be driving around trying to find a spot. We came on a weekend and did have a short wait when we visited.

Yelp
Two words.... IN LOVE! We went here for dinner with friends a few days ago and were blown away at the variety of gluten-free and vegan options! The menu is SO transparent down to every little detail about what's in their food and what isn't. As someone who is gluten-free and vegan this was GREATLY appreciated! I LOVE Thai food so this was so exciting as I could actually enjoy real Thai food without the worry. The staff was so friendly, accommodating, attentive and transparent with any allergen questions I had (i.e peanuts). The space is actually really cute, comfortable and elegant considering it's supposed to be casual Thai. In terms of the actual food. HEAVEN..... just pure heaven. I'm a major foodie and so is my boyfriend and we were so obsessed we came back the next day. We ordered the flower cups and Tom Yum soup to start which were great and so flavorful. We also got the See Eew (which is one of my favorite Thai dishes) and the Tangerine with crispy chicken (all of which was gluten-free and vegan; soy based) and both dishes were incredible. The amount of food you get for the value is exceptional. I simply cannot wait to come back to SD just to be able to stop by Plumeria.

Yelp
It's been a few years but Plumeria was just as delicious as I remember. We lucked out with street parking a block away, came for a late lunch on Sunday. Plenty of seating, got a table right away. I was overwhelmed with choices so I went with the special duck noodle soup, which was a good call. Crispy duck, flavorful broth, fresh veggies, it was delicious.

Grace S.

Yelp
I almost feel bad for giving this place 3 stars given the two people I went with really enjoyed their food and the people that run this place and all the people who work here are amazingly sweet, helpful and nice. We ordered: Thai tea Taro tea warm Gay le Cha - lychee + lemon + black tea Appetizer sampler Zen soup for the table Duck noodle soup Pad see ew with duck Rama with tofu but without zucchini What I specifically ordered was the zen soup and the duck noodle soup. The zen soup was super unique and I haven't seen it at any other Thai establishments. The zen soup contains various beans, veggies like carrots, and brown rice in coconut soup. It was very tasty, and my partner and friend really enjoyed it. I liked everything about it except my one but important issue with the dish -- just too sweet. I like my drinks a little sweet, desserts sweet. I am not super fond of my entrees being sweet. I did love how it had beans, and rice, a good amount of fat and protein. The duck noodle soup with the crispy mock duck was with pho noodles, very pho like, and super delicious -- except for the fact that the broth was too sweet. The crispy duck was AMAZING. I've had mock duck before, but never crispy and the texture was just awesome. I was adding some sriracha to try and cut the sweetness but of course that wasn't very effective. I would have loved to have added some acid to cut that sweetness, but I powered through it. Obviously my taste buds are more sensitive to sweetness since most people don't have any complaints about Plumeria being too sweet, but it was definitely too sweet for me. The gay le cha drink was perfectly sweet - which I found interesting considering the other items. It was super refreshing, just as it said on the menu. Lemony, black tea lychee taste topped with three lychee meat. This may have been my favourite. My partner had ordered the taro tea which I stole a sip of since I love warm taro milk tea - this one was actually less sweet that I expected since sometimes taro milk tea can be a bit overpowering when there is too much sugar, and it was super tasty and would love to order it again. For the appetizer items - the chicken satay had a nice texture. Doesn't really taste like chicken or have the texture of chicken, but it was still pretty good. The cucumber salad was flavorful and light. I didn't eat any of the other items as I couldn't really fit anything more at the end of the evening :) We sat outdoors, and our waitress was very accommodating and patient coming back several times before taking our order and was really nice with our requests. A lot of other waitresses dropped by to check on us and when it started raining they asked if we were okay. They were absolutely delightful. The chairs outdoor aren't the most comfortable, but I'm happy they had seats outside and really, beggars can't be choosers. And lastly, I'm happy to see any vegetarian or vegan establishment. I wish we had more of these even though I'm not a vegetarian as I could use more choices that support a vegetarian diet since we all know how bad meat is for us. Now if they could slightly lessen the sweetness of their dishes I would be a much happier camper.

Eva C.

Yelp
Really yummy place for vegan/vegetarian thai food! The service was friendly and pretty fast (visited at night time close to closing). On this night, decided to try the Special Menu items since they both sounded yummy. I was so happy with the choice, as both the Coconut Crispy Rice Salad and the Duck Noodle Soup were DELICIOUS. Though the soup was great in that cold evening, the star of the night was definitely the Coconut Crispy Rice Salad. It had the flavor, the texture, and the portion size! I will definitely be coming back to try other items from their menu!

Yelp
I've been wanting to get Thai food as well as take a friend out for a casual dinner. My friend is vegetarian so I chose Plumeria to accommodate. Little did I know this was a very popular destination for your go to vegetarian authentic Thai food needs. We split the Flower Cups, Tom Yum soup, and Cashew Nut with mock chicken (vegan) as the protein. I've had some mock meats before and their chicken was not too far off the real thing in terms of texture. The Flower Cups were great appetizers and have a filling of tofu, peas and carrots served with a cucumber salad/ vinaigrette. The salad was really sweet so I didn't use much of it. The Tom Yum soup was a bit bland, but included a generous portion of beech mushroom, carrots, and tofu. My friend in addition to being vegetarian, could also not eat garlic or onion and they were able to accommodate even further with us to provide everything to us! To end we got their Cheesecake Eggrolls which I was a little surprised to see such a combination, but it was a good combination. We added coconut ice cream to it and it did help with the sweetness. It was a busy Saturday night as our wait was 30-40 minutes, but I enjoyed my meal even though vegetarian is not my standard diet.

Yelp
Came by for a late brunch with my friend. There were a few people dining. Street parking is available. They have outside and inside dining. We opted for inside dining, we looked at the menu prior to this visit. Our waitress Pink took our food and drink orders. The food came out fairly quickly and it was super fresh! We had family style dining. We ordered the tangerine "chicken", satay "chicken", spicy noodles level 10 with fried tofu & "beef" and a second order of spicy noodles spice level Zero with fried tofu. The drinks we had were Sapporo and watermelon smash martini (sake base). I wish they had liquor as an option; they only serve wine, beers and sake. The satay chicken and tangerine chicken were super crispy, great flavor and came out piping hot! The satay chicken was marinated vegan chicken; it came with peanut sauce and cucumber salad. Tangerine chicken was topped off with their sweet and tangy sauce; served with steamed broccoli and white/brown rice. Our main entree were the spicy noodles with fried tofu and beef. I ordered a level 10 spicy but it was not spicy enough for me. Spicy noodle was made with wide noodles sautéed with onions, bell peppers, basil and carrots in a chili garlic sauce. My friend can't handle spice; so he ordered the spicy noodle level zero with fried tofu. The noodles, vegan beef and tofu were cooked perfectly with great amount of flavor. For dessert we split the mango over sticky rice, it was pretty darn good! The mango, the sticky rice with sweet coconut milk on topped was delicious. We both enjoyed each appetizers and entree. The staff were friendly. The restaurant was open and airy. They also have bathrooms for customers.

Yelp
Plumeria was very delicious. We were sat outside when we arrived. There were a handful of tables out on the front sidewalk. We had very friendly and quick service. My friend and I ordered the samosas, the yellow curry, and eggplant with tofu. The food came out super quickly. The samosas were good and small and bite size. They were filled with potato and peas. The sauce that came of them was the best part because it was a little sweet and added some extra flavor. The eggplant was good as well. It felt pretty standard for some sautéed veggies. The highlight for me was the curry. Thought I felt the potatoes were a little undercooked, the flavor of the curry made up for it. It was creamy and eating it felt like a warm hug. Would definitely come back!

Holly S.

Yelp
Friendly service, lots of variety to the menu. Food is expertly prepared. Loved the crispy tofu larb. Fresh ingredients. Nice to see local ingredients being used in dishes. Enjoy the dark and wood accents in the dining room. Seems like it'd lend to a semi quaint/romantic-like setting if you dined here for dinner. Dining room is much bigger than the encinitas location, so no worries about waiting for a table.

Sarah S.

Yelp
Food is out of this world good! The chefs are geniuses that can transform tofu into "meat" you couldn't tell the tangerine chicken nor the tofu chicken tamarind were vegan. That takes talent, I've cooked with tofu before and I could only dream of frying it into the texture at Plumeria. The broccoli in the tangerine dish was perfectly al dente and not mushy. Cream cheese wontons were bomb. You can taste the cream cheese in the wontons, they don't skimp. The ambience is lively-very busy for a weekday night in college town/university heights. The interior is modern and funky cute with purple walls and floral touches. The service was decent. The staff wasn't super warm or overtly friendly. It could have been that it was a super busy night and they were exhausted. This is my new favorite vegetarian restaurant in SD.

Rina H.

Yelp
Me and two friends came here a few weeks ago for dinner around 6:30 on a Saturday. There was a little line so we ended up having to wait about 20 minutes to get seated. The restaurant isn't too big but they have plenty of seats. Once seated we were immediately greeted by our friendly server who quickly took our order. I got the basil chicken and Tom yum soup. The soup was honestly lacking in flavor (I think some of the key elements must be non-vegan) but it was still good. I really liked the basil chicken it was so delicious and bursting with flavor. I would definitely come back here again - esp if I have a vegetarian/vegan friend with me!

Charlotte R.

Yelp
I had to take my mom and sister here to show them how amazing the food is. We ordered the appetizer sampler to try a variety of dishes and instantly fell in love with the fresh and bright summer salad. The best dish we had by far was the Spicy Basil with vegan beef. So much flavor and depth. I'm so glad I came back and got a chance to share this place with other people who also love great food.

Makayla C.

Yelp
This was so delicious like it was perfect, I loved this so much and I can't wait for my next San Diego trip so I can enjoy this again :) 10/10. They were also so quick with my order and I'm glad because I had a flight to catch, but seriously if you're debating on a vegan spot to eat while you're in the area, go for it.

Javi N.

Yelp
Nestled in the heart of the city, Plumeria Vegetarian is a true gem for those seeking a burst of flavor in every bite. My recent visit left me enamored with their dedication to fresh, vibrant ingredients and a menu teeming with creativity. The star of the show? Their Spicy Noodles. Imagine a dish where tender vegan chicken dances around with crunchy onions, bell peppers, and carrots, all intermingled with fresh basil. The famous chili garlic sauce they toss it in isn't just spicy--it's a masterful stroke of culinary artistry, adding a heat that's as exhilarating as it is divine. Moving on to the Broccoli Delight, which is a love letter to broccoli enthusiasts. The vegan beef is so skillfully seasoned and cooked that it could easily fool the staunchest meat lovers. The broccoli itself was the highlight for me, cooked to a tender yet crisp perfection that paired beautifully with the rich, savory sauce enveloping it. No meal at Plumeria Vegetarian would be complete without a sip of their Sake Nigori. This creamy, dreamy drink was the perfect counterbalance to the spices of the meal--a cool, smooth finish to a dining experience that was as delightful as it was satisfying. In summary, Plumeria Vegetarian doesn't just serve food; they master the art of vegetarian cuisine with a flair that's both modern and wonderfully indulgent. Whether you're a vegetarian or just a lover of all things deliciously prepared, this place is a must-visit. Trust me, your taste buds will thank you!

Jessi E.

Yelp
Despite not being a vegetarian myself, I really like the food and I leave happy. The spices are on point, and mesh quite well with one another. The presentation of the dishes is very nice, which I assume are to be expected for the area. I like how much care and attention the business puts into the food. It does tend to be rather busy and a bit on the loud side because of the size and cramped nature of the buildings. They do have outdoor seating, but expect to bring something to abate the ever- present nature of the summer mosquitoes. Parking is fairly difficult to come by, as it's all street with no lots to support the number of businesses and restaurants along this strip. I've regularly had to park in the residential area or even near the park, and walk a block or two just to get to the restaurant.

Adi V.

Yelp
Solid 4.5. Amazing food, went when visiting from NY. Love that it's all vegetarian, and they are very accommodating to those with dietary restrictions. Food 9/10: delicious!! wish portions were a little bigger though!! Ambiance: slightly dim lighting, calm and relaxing, and seating is spread out well and enough room at the tables. Service 9/10 waitress was very friendly, attentive and respectful when helping us. May have to wait a little for a table though so be prepared. Would 100% recommend, great place!!

Michael B.

Yelp
Came here for a bday celebration. It was packed for a Thursday night. No seat was empty. Always a good sign. They had their regular menu and then for a limited time I'm assuming since it was on a separate piece of paper with the word "special" on it, a spicy duck soup which as soon as I saw on the menu, my mouth started to water. I went with that and got it a 8 out of 10. The 8 felt more like a 6 to me but I'm from the Caribbean and we eat scotch bonnets as an appetizer so it could just be me. I had 8 people in my party and the food came out super quick. Even tho it was busy, we saw our waitstaff multiple times. They were even cracking jokes with us and offered to take pictures of us and joined in on signing happy birthday. We brought a small fruit dessert cake with us but no lighter and they promptly had a lighter for us which was nice. Although packed it wasn't overly loud nor was it too hot because of all the people in there. The seats were not as comfortable and pretty close together however. The rest of my party had an array of different food items from their Yellow Curry to their Basil Fried Rice to their Spicy Drunken Noodles. They ordered it with vegan chicken, vegan beef or with tofu. While their foods were good. I'd say a 3.5 out of 5 good. Mine was definitely a 5. We also ordered the sampler and a pot of rose tea. The tea was quite flavorful. This place is a solid 4. They always treat you right and you never leave feeling disappointed. Probably one of the better Thai food spots in the city.

Miguel S.

Yelp
Great food and great service. Can't recommend a specific dish. Love all the different dishes they have. Good portions.

daisy d.

Yelp
Took them 2hours to bring out my food. It was very busy but way too long to wait for food when you are dining in. I ordered ahead. But food is very good and it's a nice aesthetically pleasing vibe inside.

Stephen A.

Yelp
Excellent food and service! The Vegetarians and Non-vegetarians in our group, both enjoyed the food in this Vegetarian restaurant!

Lianni L.

Yelp
Absolutely one of the BEST vegan spots I have ever been to. The fact that the menu has so much to choose from is great. We came from out of town to visit family and they suggested this place since some of us are vegan. When we get there it was PACKED, I'm not sure if they take reservations but if they do I would suggest making one as this is a very popular spot. They have indoor seating and outdoor seating, tables that could accommodate larger parties. Everything we ate was delicious! Unfortunately yelp only allows 10 pics now so couldn't post everything.

Sprague D.

Yelp
Pad thai and Pad see ew takes good here. Nice atmosphere. Service is good. Used to come here a lot before the pandemic.

Allyn P.

Yelp
I'm not a vegetarian or vegan and let me tell you how none of that matters lol I absolutely love the Thai fried rice...I usually get it with the fried tofu. You can control your spice level so if you love it spicy like me... run don't walk lol staff is great and I love how delicious it smells whenever I walk in

Changying L.

Yelp
I ordered the Spicy Basil (spice lvl.5) with the vegan duck and brown rice. I'm usually iffy about mock meats but this place has really opened my eyes. The vegan duck was so tasty and the texture was so amazing. The veggies were perfect as well, and the brown rice was airy and fluffy. Service was really nice today, very accommodating staff and they always work with a smile :) The vibe is exquisité, the beautiful shades of purple and there's also outside seating! 10/10 on everything

Stacie M.

Yelp
Showed up with a party of 3 at 7:15 on a Monday, restaurant was 3/4 full but we were seated right away. Service was very friendly and very efficient. I've also been in on a Saturday evening with a group of 6, and service was just as good in that case. (they do take reservations for parties of 6 or more). THey brought us waters and took our orders. Got the Tom Yum soup and it was sooo delicious, we finished that pretty quickly. I went with the green curry, but pretty sure I've had a couple of the noodle dishes and stir fries in the past. I love all of the vegetarian meat options, the mock duck was really good. I will note that 1 time I've ordered takeout from here and the noodle dish was not up to their normal standard, but i'll assume that was a fluke since i've eaten here so many other times and always enjoyed the food.

Karla R.

Yelp
Yummy foods that are plated beautifully and are meatless! Plumeria's a great place to check out in University Heights It's rather small inside so I personally think it's best suited for smaller groups. When I went, it was just a friend and I, and we were seated and helped immediately. Between us, we got the appetizer sampler, pumpkin curry (medium level spice) and seaweed salad. Everything was pretty solid but I really have to say that my favorite was the satay chicken that came with the sampler. Appetizer sampler -- 9/10. Super good introduction into what Plumeria's all about. My favorites from this platter were DEFINITELY the satay chicken and cream cheese wontons. Pumpkin curry -- 10/10. Soooo yummy! The curry had a nice bit of heat to it and packed a good amount of veggies. The only thing is I wish the portion of rice it came with was more generous. I felt like I didn't get enough. I loved that it came in the shape of a heart!

Tazneen S.

Yelp
Th food was alright and service is 3/5 and ambiance is okay. Needs to improve the environment to make a clean and good

Kristina L.

Yelp
Amazing! First time trying plumeria. Really impressed with the freshness and quality!

Shana K.

Yelp
Spicy basil with "tempura chicken"was completely soggy. Not crispy tempura like I ordered for the extra almost $5. Far too much oil, wet, soggy, and inedible. The quality has gone down over the years. Their take out containers are awful and service is bad. Don't waste time or money at this place. There are better opinions for vegan Thai than this place nowadays

Shannon Z.

Yelp
Excellent food with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options, but with limited parking. The interior has many tables and three distinct seating areas, with a bar. During busy times like on a Saturday night, expect a wait. The tempura faux chicken as a protein was delicious, especially with noodles! The table agreed that the Pad See-Ew was some of the best ever. The restaurant has a spice scale, and No. 3 is "medium spicy", the scale of spicy goes up to No. 10. We ordered a few No. 3 spicy dishes and it was not too hot and added good flavor. The "flower cups" were surprising, most of the appetizers on their menu are fried but flower cups which had a cup shell (possibly fried) and felt lighter, also it was gluten free.

Sarah B.

Yelp
My friends and I went here last night for dinner, and lemme start by saying how nice the service is. All of the waiters were legitimately Thai (always a good sign), and super sweet. The place is really cute, right on the Main Street of Encinitas, and conveniently and caddy corner from my favorite gelato place. ‍ My girlfriend and I are trying to incorporate more plant-based/vegan meals into our lives, so this seemed like a good spot to check out. We tried the flower cups to start, and they were tasty and different than anything I've had before. For one of our entrees, we got the sautéed eggplant with 1/2 chicken and 1/2 fried tofu. The eggplant was cooked perfectly, and I was a big fan of the proteins. The mock chicken doesn't taste exactly like chicken, but its yummy. We also ordered the Ka Pow with mock duck, and the duck was a table favorite. The portions were well sized; we had plenty of food for the three of us. In terms of drinks, they have tons of iced tea and hot tea options (I tried the blood orange iced tea and liked it), and the other girls had white wine- the pours were good sized. All around a great experience.

Just looked on website on google. I saw a picture regular sticky rice plate for $3.00 on menu as a side dish. The picture had rice and half mango on a heart plate. Went to the restaurant they are charging $8.08 at restaurant. What part of that makes sense. The cashier said that's not true. I pulled it up on the phone she took a picture for her owner. Then she called her owner which responded someone eles must have posted that and denied that there actual site. BEWARE !!! When you order online or eat there. Check your receipts you might be s hooked like was. When I brought to there attention showed them on google. They just denied and denied that's there site again BEWARE. Rice was good service and false advertising HORRIBLE !!

Yelp
Came here on a Wednesday afternoon for a late lunch with my husband. We did street parking across the street and walked over. It wasn't busy at all so we were seated right away and we sat in their outdoor seating area. We ordered the appetizer sampler, which I highly recommend if you just can't decide and want to try a little bit of (almost) everything. I can't make up my mind on which one was my favorite. We also ordered the eggplant dish with fried tofu, tangerine with vegan crispy chicken, and spicy basil fried rice with vegan duck. My husband and I were both so impressed with the food. Every single dish we ordered was soo good! We didn't feel that anything was lacking in flavor, in fact quite the opposite. And the serving sizes are huge, definitely a great value for the price. Our server checked on us a few times throughout our meal and was very friendly. Such a good find in San Diego. We will be back! :)

Yelp
I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS PLACE IS NOT ALL OVER SAN DIEGO...The food is delicious and the service inside will make a lasting impression on you...I PROMISE! Paw, made my first time eating here a true pleasure! Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
slays every time! service is always quick and the food is always delicious! i'm a big fan of the tangerine with vegetables (the texture of veggies is preferable to me over tofu) and their thai tea. their curries are delicious and their spice levels are reasonable for a person who loves spice!

Yelp
Cannot sing the praises of this place enough! I have been coming here for years and have always had a great experience. The food is fresh, flavorful, and can actually get pretty spicy! The noodles and curries are delicious, and the tangerine mock duck is a must. Service is still really speedy for how busy the place can get, and the quality never suffers. You can tell it's a business run with a lot of care and love!

Yelp
I have been going to plumeria for several years. The food has always had perfect flavor and always came out hot. This last time was a little different but the food was still delicious. It wasn't as warm as usual and wasn't quite as flavorful. Maybe it was just an off night but it was slightly disappointing as I had been craving the hot Thai tea and pumpkin curry. The service was amazing as always. The server was polite and prompt and made us feel welcome. The restaurant is always so cozy feeling and warm. I will still definitely be back.

Yelp
Good vegetarian food is not hard to come by, even good Asian vegetarian food. But one of the things that appeals to this omnivore is that the qualifier "vegetarian" here is unnecessary. Plumeria provides good food. In a metro region that has some good Thai spots, Plumeria is consistently one of the best. Their North Park and Encinitas locations offer authentic northern Thai cuisine, as hot (or as mild) as you would like. The spicy basil and ka prao are some of my favorites, although I also like their take on fried bananas, if you want some sweets a bit after. The dishes are of course meatless, although one should be aware that some dishes might be vegetarian and not vegan. Other than parking in the area (which can be a challenge at busy times), the only occasional shortcoming of Plumeria can be the service. While they are friendly, occasionally it is not focused as much as it should. But these are relatively small concerns and I put Plumeria as one of my four or five favorite Thai spots in the San Diego region.

Yelp
Yum yum yum! Never disappointing. Forgot to take a photo of our best dish: the spicy basil fried rice with mock duck. It was so good we just hovered it in an instance. If you aren't sure what to order, the appetizer sampler is a great way to try several things. They're a Thai restaurant that does spice by Thai levels (3 out of 10 = American medium). Good stuff! Seating inside and outside are both nice.

Yelp
I've always wondered about Plumeria, but with Bahn Thai across the street, I never gave it a chance. I have so many regrets!!! The inside isn't very large, but is cozy and inviting. All of the food is vegetarian, which is a huge plus! My favorite dishes were the larb (which was unlike anything I've had before) and the tangerine chicken (think a tad bit sweeter than orange chicken). The fake meat was not off-putting at all and was pretty dang convincing. Can't wait to try more of the menu!

Yelp
Spicy Noodles - i got the 5 which is close to medium and it still packed a punch but wasn't overwhelming - I love that it's gluten free with tons of gluten free options on the menu It is a vegetarian restaurant so it is served with your choice of veggies , tofu , or vegan duck, chicken etc. i got the fried tofu which a good choice Parking is limited in this area but I was lucky and got a spot a block away without circling when I went for lunch

Yelp
Man oh man, I had no idea I liked vegetarian meat until I went to Plumeria! I feel like I have been missing out, as all the dishes were delicious! I got the spicy noodles with beef, and others in the table got the spicy noodles with chicken, the yellow curry with duck, and the tangerine with crispy chicken. I tasted all of them and none of them disappointed. The rice that comes with the curry was plated in shape of a heart, which was a great touch. Staff were quick to come and get the order, but we did need to flag them down a couple of times afterwards to get water refills. Despite this though, I still thought the overall experience was great and I will definitely be returning in the future.

Yelp
I'm not a vegetarian, but I still enjoyed my meal. I understand why this place has high ratings. The food was delicious and I still got full even with the absence of meat.

Yelp
Plumeria provides such a unique experience that both vegetarian and meat eaters find things to enjoy. I have been here many times and have tried many of their dishes and they always deliver. Tonight my friend and I each got their sake martinis: watermelon and mango. We shared the fresh spring rolls that come with a peanut and pineapple sauce. This is one of my favorite appetizers to get here. We then shared a vegan duck pad Thai and veggie panang curry. They pad Thai was better than the curry in my opinion. The crispy vegan duck is such a tasty addition and added a lot of good flavor. Our server was very attentive and provided some great recommendations. Look forward to more dinner here in the future.

Yelp
Delicious! The flavor in their food is outstanding! They had great customer service and the staff was all very friendly and accommodating. I love when you don't have only one server, I like to to see all employees helping each other out. We had several different people check in on is over the course of about an hour... great service all the way around. (Don't come at me for what I'm about to say, I know this is a VEGETARIAN restaurant) BUT... I really wished they had at least one meat option for those of us who are dining with a vegetarian, but not vegetarian ourselves. I think it would be pretty simple to keep some chicken breast in the freezer/fridge and fry it up as needed? As most restaurants have some vegetarian options, a vegetarian restaurants should have a non vegetarian option. Although it's not a huge deal, I can certainly survive a meatless meal... and this would definitely NOT keep me from coming back to this restaurant, just simply a suggestion. The food was good and the service was great and THAT will keep me coming back!
