"This restaurant by the beach, with its somewhat unusual and huge kingfish adorning the façade, is an iconic eatery for lovers of grilled fish dishes that are both copious and of the highest quality. The concise à la carte, which is based around ingredients sourced daily from the fish auction, is complemented by an interesting array of homemade preserves which are served in the restaurant or can be purchased to take home. Advance booking is recommended here." - Michelin Inspector

Tony and José had fresh caught grilled salmon with local moonshine. They laughed as they ate and drank outside at this place.

Wow what a great find for us passing by on the way to Bilbao. I actually made the reservation one week later but thankfully they had one last table for us, and a really nice one too. Super fresh and delicious seafood especially their signature king fish from the deep sea grilled to perfection. One of the best meals for all of us. Superb service too. Parking free on the hillside for restaurant patrons. Worth it.

Google
The place for grilled fish and seafood when in the area. A stunning wine list and a marvellous service, plenty of kindness in the northern way, complements a superb experience. Booking in advance is essential

It is 5 out of 5 place. Expensive. Simply elegant menu. Excellent. And it’s worth it Discovery of the trip to Asturias. It's surprising to find places like this where you can experience Michelin star level in a village. The old house has been completely renovated and turned into an upscale restaurant near the beach. Specializes in red fish REY. I can’t say that it’s very tasty, but trying it once is an experience. You may buy high quality conservas (latas) with affordable prices. Which made there in the place. My recommendation is pate de navajas! The service is amazing, very attentive and friendly. You will feel that everything here is made with love. This is an open kitchen with a display of fresh fish and seafood on ice. Parking is located behind the house. You can also have a drinks on the terrace and enjoy the view

Great restaurant for seafood and wine. Service is passionate and from the heart. Cooking is unpretentious and let’s the excellent produce shine. Wine selection is fantastic with lot of wines by small and rare producers from Spain, France and rest of Europe

Product, product, product! Located at a primal beach, yes you can see millions of years of earth history in front of your eyes, this restaurant is all about the freshest possible bounty from the sea cooked only as much as needed. We had a delicious meal with very good wine. The Virey fish is king here. The sardines were extremely fresh, incredible. The carabineros also extremely fresh, to die for. These place is not cheap, but it is worth every penny. To many it’s the best seafood restaurant in Asturias, to me one of the best in Spain and we have eaten in a few heavy weights already.

Google
Yes Güeyu Mar really is that good. Just a short drive from the lovely coastal town of Ribadesella, it’s possibly one of the best ways to spend a long lazy lunch to be found in Northern Spain…well anywhere. No fussy pretentiousness in the service or the setting that many restaurants serving this quality fall into the trap of. This place excels and making the most of the fabulously fresh fish that sits packed in ice ready to go straight over the charcoal grill. Knowledgeable, likeable and happy staff engage with the dining experience expertly. The explain where it’s needed, they back off when you’re deep in conversation or eating and they seem to be genuinely proud of the great service they are providing. Abel Alvarez, the chef and inspiration behind Güeyu Mar, is the absolute master of his charcoal fired grills. He effortlessly manages every plate with a man born of the love of what he does and the confidence that comes with many years of experience. He is a pleasure to watch at work.

Charcoals and seafood Smoked oyster with caviar was delicate, full of flavors and just excellent. We also had the sea urchins and that goes to yet another level. Nothing mild here, just an explosion of sea flavors. It has been 8 years since a ban on fishing them in the area and we were luckily enough to try on the time the ban was lifted. I can only recommend… or maybe not so they are not banned again : ) For the main course we shared grilled Lubina and Mero. It was overall nice but it could have taken a little more flavor on the grill… that is for our taste, of course! Also the Mero was borderline needing a minute or more of cooking. The Lubina, on the other hand, was perfectly grilled. It’s rather expensive but the amazing location, the super quality food and the great service just about justifies the high bill…. Nah, it’s very expensive! This is the fish version of Bodegas El Capricho, owner and all… an amazing salesman so be careful or you will be paying more. I also forget to mention the wine menu… it is very impressive and plenty to choose from. I refrained myself from 5 starts mostly due to the price.

This is top level quality in all aspects, the ingredients, preparation, staff, and setting. It’s almost impossible to find this experience outside of Spain and only few exist within. The Rey is an amazing fish to try here. All dishes were superb. There’s a great wine selection. Also the canned seafood selection to buy and take home is unique and very good quality. I recommend the tuna and mejillones if buying.

Yelp
Gueyu Mar is a place that we visit at least 2 times when we're in Asturias. The menu is fish. The catch of the day. Don't expect meat offerings. What they do, they do flawlessly. The open kitchen is amazing to see, how the chef maneuvers the grill make his creations. Wine selection is amazing, and the staff/sommelier suggests the perfect bottle to accompany your meal. Don't hesitate to buy the tins. These tins are now very limited sold in NYC - and worth EVERY PENNY. I usually end up buying one of each.. Yes, it's that good. I look forward to returning her again next year.
