Historic tavern featured in 'Goodfellas' with unique burgers

"Neir’s claims to be the oldest continually operating bar in NYC. It’s also the only place with a shrine to Mae West—who lived nearby—and a variety of Goodfellas memorabilia. (Certain scenes were shot here.) Today, the place is one part tourist attraction, two parts friendly neighborhood pub, with an antique tap system and a thick house burger topped with something called Goodfella sauce." - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah
"Neir’s is so old, it was used as a location for Goodfellas. It’s so old, Mae West used to hang out here. After nearly 200 years, this Woodhaven tavern has a strong claim to being the longest continuously operating bar in NYC. Take a lap, check out the tin ceiling, newspaper clippings, and portrait of Mae West. Once you’re done being a tourist, watch some sports like everyone else, and try a burger dripping in special “Goodfellas sauce” (mayo, ketchup, and a bit of chipotle)." - bryan kim
"If you were around in the 19th century, you might have known it as the Blue Pump Room, or maybe the Old Abbey. Open since 1829, this Woodhaven bar has gone by several names, and was at one time frequented by a young Mae West. With its tin ceiling and antique lamps, Neir’s Tavern is worth a sightseeing trip, especially if you’re into the movie Goodfellas, parts of which were filmed here. If you aren’t into touristy things, that’s fine. The place mostly feels like a quality, down-to-earth neighborhood hang that just happens to be implausibly old. Swing by, get a beer poured from the old-school tap system, and try the signature Goodfella Burger, which has nothing to do with the movie, but is delicious nonetheless. photo credit: Bryan Kim" - Bryan Kim

"I’m pleased that the historic Neir’s Tavern, open since 1829, is listed as one of roughly 30 restaurants participating in the Queens Together food festival, where $100 tickets include unlimited food and alcoholic beverages and admission is free for children 12 and under; proceeds benefit the participating restaurants and a Thanksgiving food drive." - Luke Fortney

Tony had a beer with Loycent “Loy” Gordon, the owner of the tavern, and New York City Fire Department lieutenant. The movie "Goodfellas" filmed scenes in this bar.
