Fornos of Spain

This is absolutely one of my favorite Spanish restaurants! I have been here more than three times. The food is always amazing. The fig dessert is delicious, and the complimentary salad is fresh and comes in a huge portion! The main dishes are aromatic and flavorful. I especially love the complimentary Churros served with hot chocolate sauce at the end—they are so good! The Basque cheesecake is also a must-try. Last time, a manager noticed how much I enjoyed the churros and kindly brought us an extra portion. I was so touched and grateful for the gesture. Highly recommend this place for the great food and wonderful service!

Incredible food. The portions serving size is very generous. I loved their spanish yellow rice, the seasoning, in my opinion, is to live for. Their fried calamari is very crunchy and rich with the sauce they give. The bread also has a nice unique flavor twist to it, of course the butter is a solid accompanament. I got the lamb, it is tender (~$45), but I prefer the steak since it was more on the juicy/flavorful side. Overall, excellent choice for a fancy dinner together with friends and family. I loved the soothing and relaxing atmosphere. They also do free delicious surprise dessert for birthday celebrations.

Amazing Spanish food and great ambience. Great place to have lesiurely long dinner.. For appetizers had the shishisto peppers and lobster crockets. For mains has Paella and T Bone steak with home serving of Spanish chips , rice and streamed veggies. For dessert , we tried the caramel flan and a curtado. The food , the service and the ambience was top class.

It has been years since I have been at Fornos of Spain. So many changes. All great. Service is still top notch. Atmosphere is amazing. Food will never disappoint. I had the Veal Osso Buco. Amazing! Resting on a bed of mashed potatoes. Delicious! Their perfectly seasoned vegetables and famous fried potatoes for the table. My wife had the stuffed flounder. I finished with a Pastel de Nata (couldn't wait to take a bite) and espresso. She had the Flan and a capochino. If you visit the Ironbound section of Newark you need to visit. Oh... did I mention the cigar lounge?

The best place ⭐️ The salad and the churros for default are delicious We went to the restaurant to celebrate my husband’s birthday they charged me a fee for bringing cake but it was worth paying for it because I liked the service too much. We will definitely return, the sangria is delicious The chicken is delicious too. Also We got a large portion for each dish however the paella 🥘 was not my favorite.

The food was very good, the Paella de Pollo was very tasty, the portion was good too, the chicken piece is good, does not have to much bone, but also have dark meat part too. The Marissa’s Verde was very good too, the scallop and mussel was very big, and so is the lobster, fresh and big, the shrimp was fresh too. After the meal, the waiter gave us churro, taste good.

So, we've been going to Don Peppe's for many years. I've been growing less and less enthusiastic about the food for some time now. Because the food is always good, never great. Something is always missing in the flavor. Before Don Peppe, Iberia was a favorite of ours. The last few years, we went with another couple that are our dear friends. They are big tippers and when we went with them the 1st time, it was like we were celebreties. I was surprised and clueless to the fact that tipping big, resulted in VERY special service. No waiting for a table, free appetizers, bread, salads, drinks were immediatly brought to our table. We were welcomed like royalty. Whew! However, I am not sorry to say that after 50 years in business it is now permanently closed down. The pandemic killed the business and the food and service was sub-par the last time we went to dinner at Iberia. Back to dinner last night! Due to unfortunate news of my wife's sisters passing, she went home to be with her family in the DR. We live in Allentown, PA. SInce skipping lunch I was hungry at dinner. My wife had ni interest in food, and wanted to be dropped off at EWR, I finally was compelled to find a better place on Ferry St. While at home yesterday I delved into reviews from various restaurants, including Don Pepe. What I discovered was a ton of reviews that shared my feeling about Don Pape, identical feelings to mine. When looking at Forno of Spain reviews, they were almost all 5 star, and 4 star reviews. After dropping off my wife, I set my GPS to direct me there. I was welcomed and greeted immediatly. I no sooner sat down and bread/delicious imported olives/olive oil was delivered to my table. Hadn't even seen the menu yet. The service and ambiance was like 1st class. Attention to detail from the wait staff (there are many) catered to the table like I was a special guest. Note: Don Pepe drops olive oil and bread after being seated. No olives, no salad. You can pay extra for a salad if you like. You pay a little more at Forno's, but you get more. The salad at Forno's was excellent - with a mix of greens, walnuts, and other veggies with a not to heavy blend of olive oil/balsamic . The bread is toasted and lightly seasoned - but I do prefer Don Pepe's Portugese bread. I'm glad I didn't order an appetizer - when it's just me eating - it is overkill. No dessert as well, I was full. For my main entree it was Paella. What makes Forno's Paella so much better? The quality and freshness of the seafood in the dish. The clams, mussels, and shrimp, were great. The lobster, scallops (especially), and calamari were far more tender than what I've tasted from Don Pepe. The lobster was also tender, not tough, and you get the claw too (unlike Don Pepe). The rice and sauce in the dish completed the perfect meal. Now I know what better tastes like. As you can see in the pics, fried potatoes are included with the meal - but are not included at Don Pepe. The portion size at Forno's is a little smaller I think, but your going to take home leftovers for sure! Paella costs $48 at Forno's, I was happy to pay it! Parking is valet and free. My only issue was when I passed in front of my main server on the way out. I'm a 20% tipper and he was vivibly upset and the look on his face showed it as he ignored me upon me leaving. They offer a version of Paella over capellini, which I've never seen before. The lamb specials (2), looked amazing! I'll be going back to try them!

Haven’t been there in a few years. I could literally slap myself for that! What a gem I’ve been missing out on. Forno’s is top billing in our rotation. Everything was supreme including our waiter Aguilar! His suggestions throughout our dinner were spot on. He is exceptional at what he does. Thank you for that Aguilar! If you want a wonderful experience drop what you’re doing and treat yourself to an amazing place, FORNO’S. 🌟

You know, I've never been at a restaurant that simply seems to "throw" food at their guests. I mean, a LOT of food. Damn. Ok - almost too good to be true, right? Well, let's get started: We sat down. Water and menus came, a drink order was put in, and before we knew it, bread, olives, and a salad (all unordered, all appreciated) appeared. The bread was warm (as God intended) and the salad nicely done up, already with an Italian dressing. The olives were spicy and yummy! Ok - not ordered, but I wasn't going to argue! We ordered a seafood paella - holy moly! It was like a 14" in diameter deep dish when it came out! Tasty, lots of mussels, shrimps, scallops, even a bit of lobster..... wow. I ordered chicken picatta - expecting thin strips of chicken in a nice sauce on top of pasta....damn. I got two flat, pressed chicken breasts on pasta. Can anyone say too big by half??? Wow. Couldn't finish it. And here's where the "food being thrown to us" came in- we got a side of green beans AND a side of seasoned rice AND a side of homemade potato chips (that needed salt but still). Damn. After declining dessert, they STILL brought us 6 little churros with a dark chocolate dipping sauce. WOW. Call me totally amazed. The pricing wasn't outrageous, and the food was absolutely BOUNTIFUL and yummy! The ambiance was amazing- old school in a classy way. And the service was absolutely ON POINT. Can't speak highly enough of this place! Nicely located in Ironbound and close to Newark Penn - will I come again? Yes. But I'll need room at the hotel for the leftovers! Yummy.

This has become a go-to destination for my husband and me, especially given its close proximity to both Newark Airport and Newark Penn Station. The restaurant has an old-world charm (some may like that, others could say it is a bit dated), but what really sets it apart is the exceptional service. We're always able to get a reservation, are seated quickly, and the staff consistently tends to our every need. My favorite dish is the Grilled Seafood platter, which includes lobster, prawns, scallops, squid, clams, mussels, and your choice of sea bass, swordfish, or salmon-- and I always choose the sea bass. As I'm trying to eat healthier, this dish is satisfying and guilt-free. It also comes with a fresh salad, rice, and fried potato chips--the chips are only part I'm not a huge fan of, as I wish the chips were thinner and served hotter. And it certainly doesn't hurt that I can also order a split or half-bottle of Moët & Chandon. My friend suggested a couple of new upscale bar-and-grills that seemed to be of the "foie gras lollipop" category (Seth P. knows what I'm talking about) and I replied that I'm in my $7 dumpling era. But when Fornos was mentioned, I knew I'd hit the ATM but also figured there would be a sense of place. At my age I know I'll never be a millionaire screenwriter so this isn't an everyday experience, but it was a great one. I couldn't believe how elaborate the free salad was. The bread was great too. When the paella valenciana appeared, I thought I might need to spend the next 20 minutes solely on pictures. I also figured there was no way I'd finish it. The clams might be the best individual component of this impressive dish, but the chicken and chorizo are close. Took some bites, took some photos, and tried to balance eating with sangria-fueled tales of workplace minutiae and middle-aged medical discussions. (Hopefully we didn't ruin the mood for other Fornos patrons). The cuisine and service are stellar. The paella is a must-have but I'm also curious to delve more into appetizers and even desserts next time.

On today review of journey to spain we start off with a nice salad with a side of olives and bread. Olives reminds me of spain when I just sat there at a bar just poping olives. Only real difference fornos only serves two types of olives. Next comes the its a little to dark to read the menu, but I managed, followed trying to pronounce the words without butchering it. And than about 30 minutes of talking to people on the table and BAM so much food on the table. Exactly how I remembered eatting in spain. Only thing about the meal that was not like a restaurant in spain, was the water service. I feel like the servers was playing a game or betting with each other. Who could fill the cups the fullest and who could refill the most cups. I dont remember a time when my water cup was not full. Oh yeah the food was amazing, if i had to pass on one it would be the branzino. Not saying it wasnt good.

10 out of 10--chef's kiss from start to finish. From the parking lot to the bathroom, every detail at this restaurant is perfection. We went on a random Wednesday night for dinner, and the entire experience was flawless. We started with a fresh salad, assorted breads, olive oil for dipping, and a delightful bowl of fresh olives. After placing our order, our appetizer and entrées came out hot, fresh, and surprisingly quick. We shared a pitcher of sangria that was absolutely phenomenal--easily some of the best I've had. Our waitress was on point the entire night, refilling our glasses without missing a beat. Even though we were stuffed, we couldn't resist dessert--and I'm so glad we didn't. The key lime pie was one of the best I've ever had. And the warm towel they bring to clean your hands? Such a thoughtful touch. Yes, it's a little pricey--but completely worth it. I highly recommend Fornos for a date night, birthday, anniversary, or even a treat-yourself solo dinner. You can't go wrong. Bonus: Complimentary valet parking! Just be sure to have some extra cash on hand because everyone--from the valet to the waitstaff--deserves a good tip. I can't wait to go back.

We came here before we had to go to a Red Bull's game, which is just a walk away, so this is a very conveniently located restaurant and we were so surprised by it This restaurant was so nice even though it's in a little bit of a sketchy area when you walk inside your transported to Spain We sat down in the staff, was so tentative and friendly, and very caring to us and everything that we needed Once our whole table was seated, they immediately came out with an appetizer salad that is complementary and also bread with olives and olive oil Then we also ordered a picture of the white wine sangria, which was so good. It was really yummy. Next, we ordered food and everyone got their own entrée which was great but I think that if we came here again, we would definitely share some of the meals because one dish was so big! I got the paella and it was so good. It comes with half of a lobster which is half a lobster tail and then one claw and it also comes with chicken, sausage, mussels, clams, calamari, and scallops and shrimp. I mean, if you're looking for the ultimate seafood paella, this is literally it. The rice was so good and everything was just so delicious so flavorful I would totally come here again. We had a really great experience and the staff is just so friendly and so well trained. 10/10

My entire family & I have been coming to this restaurant for years and the service has always been impeccable! if you're ever in the ironbound area this place is a must! We had my mom's birthday dinner at the smoking area room which is open and filled with greenery with plants ( a lovely area ). For starters they give fresh hot bread , olives and a salad! After they bring out hot towelettes before the main dish ! As for the food it's all delicious and huge portions in my opinion. I ordered the stuffed salmon which comes with mashed potatoes and it brings rice , Spanish potatoes and sautéed vegetables for the table. My family ordered the stuffed shrimp , chicken parmigiana, and the grilled skirt steak everyone loved it, zero complaints! For dessert we ordered churros ( it comes with chocolate sauce but we weren't a fan of it) , tartufo and a flan & cappuccinos ( the coffee was great) Overall , we enjoyed our meal and had a great time celebrating my moms birthday ( they all came to sing happy birthday which was wonderful) This place is great & the service hasn't changed they are super attentive and friendly !

Came here for a family Christmas dinner, party of 10 and it was absolutely horrible, I've been to Fornos several times, but this was my last! Service was terrible, we arrived at 5:30 and didn't get our food till 7pm, when the food arrived, every dish was not good, several of us had short ribs and it was short of good, the wine sauce was horrible and no one ate their food, the beef stroganoff looked like it was thrown together at the last minute, the salmon was very bland, the drinks were far few in between... we literally had to grab a server to get anything... had to beg for water, we were there 3 hours and left hungry!!!

I had an amazing experience at Fornos of Spain. I came here to have dinner right before a show at the Prudential center. It is about a 10-minute walk from the Prudential center. Just be aware that while walking from this restaurant to the Prudential center, you may come across some bums living on the street. So maybe a Uber might be better if you are scared of that or are females walking alone. I came here on a Saturday around 6:00 p.m. and there was definitely a long wait to get a table. So I would suggest getting reservations before coming here on a Friday or Saturday night. I opted to sit at the bar to avoid the long wait. As soon as I sat I was greeted by the bartender and they brought me a complimentary egg and potato quiche which was delicious and olives and warm bread and butter. I was in heaven. I was starving from the train ride to Newark so having that food immediately really helped out. After ordering drinks I ordered my main course which was pasta with lobster tail. The dish took about 15 minutes to come out, which was perfect to enjoy our first drink of the night. When my dish came out it came out with the side of rice and string beans. The string beans was a perfect side dish to pasta and lobster the rice not so much. My dish was very flavorful and the lobster was cooked just right. It was the perfect light meal to eat before heading out for the night. I would definitely return to this restaurant, but next time I'd like to make reservations and have a table. The ambiance looked very nice.

Disappointing experience from start to finish! Unfortunately, this was a very disappointing visit. The food quality did not meet expectations. Several dishes were poorly prepared and lacked quality and flavor. For the $800 price and reputation, we expected much better. What made the experience worse was the service. When we raised our concerns, there was little sense of urgency or care from the maître d'. Our complaint felt brushed off rather than taken seriously, and no real effort was made to resolve the issue or check back with us. A simple acknowledgment or attempt to make things right would have gone a long way. Good service is about responsiveness and accountability, especially when something goes wrong. Sadly, that was missing here. Based on this experience, we would not return or recommend this restaurant.

This was a nice restaurant we stumbled upon when visiting Newark for a concert. As we walked in we were definitely caught by surprise because it was such a cute entrance way. The food was amazing. They started everyone off with a plate of salad. Had a few apps, pasta and steak. The drinks were presently so nicely as well. The service was great. There were so many waiters and everyone was attentive. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Lunch is always amazing. The place is well kept staff. Is great and the food is amazing.

Went here with my coworkers for the holidays, and it was fantastic! Since Iberia shut down, this seems like it will be my go-to spot. It's located right in the heart of Ironbound. The staff were great, and although there's no parking lot, there's plenty of street parking. A few of us ordered the paellas, and it was delicious, better deal if you come for lunch! The meal came with complimentary bread, salad, and churros for dessert, which was a nice bonus. Highly recommend this place

Absolutely amazing dining experience. We took our daughter for her 16th birthday. Service was top notch. Food was delicious. Restaurant itself was beautiful. Cannot recommend highly enough. Thank you to the staff for making our family's day. We will be back.

had a business dinner here. food was great but service well it took too long people started to ask to have their dessert to go. 3 course meal took about 4 hours. There were about a dozen of us. they have private valet parking. Portions were huge- i ate that paella over two more days.

Enjoyable meal with fresh ingredients and attentive staff. Portions were generous, presentation appealing, and the atmosphere welcoming, making this restaurant a dependable choice for relaxed evenings out with friends.

This place is a bit chaotic when it is busy. The waiters seem to rush around. As soon as you are seated the servers literally throw salad in front of you and don't give you adequate time to really look over the menu without the risk of your menu being in your salad. The tables are already small and it seems like they just pile a bunch of food on the table at a time. Overall the service was decent and everyone was friendly. It was just a bit chaotic. The food is okay in my opinion but my parents enjoy the food here so I've eaten here with them a few times.

Food: The food here was phenomenal. As soon as I walked in they served my family and I water and brought out the fresh bread. They also gave everyone complimentary salad. We ordered an order of fried calamari to share for the table, we ordered a paella, and a pitcher of white sangria. The paella was so delicious and freshly made it was super warm when I took my first bite I almost burned my tongue. Service: the service was pretty decent. I can't really comment too much on this since it was an overwhelmingly busy day today for the restaurant. At the beginning the waiters were attentive but then when the main entrees arrived we asked waiters for Tabasco sauce and a lobster opener and it took a minute to get someone's attention. But again, they were so busy today so it's understandable. Ambiance: the ambiance at the restaurant is fun, it can be a little loud with the amount of people dining around the same area. It is a family friendly restaurant and perfect for a birthday dinner or a date night. 10/10 restaurant recommendation for some yummy yet not too expensive meals

Just leaving the NYC/NJ area, and visited this very special little gem of a place on the recommendation of a local at my hotel. This place is apparently an institution in Newark and I can sorta see why. It's a quaint little neighborhood fine dining place with lovely table settings and service, although the overall decor is reminiscent of a dated Italian restaurant. The food service was delightful. Within 3 minutes of sitting, we were presented with our first course: salad, olives, and bread. What? No making me wait forever at the table, starving in interminable silence while watching like a hungry pup as food passes by always seemingly bound for other tables? Nope. They FEED you here, and will gladly bag/box up your leftovers. The salad was fresh (I even ate the leftovers the next day and the greens were still springy!), and the olives looked appetizing (they were clearly spruced up in the back with herbs and spices, but I don't know how they tasted because an olive will never voluntarily pass through these lips). My friend seemed to enjoy them, however, popping them like Pez until Yoselin needed to make room on the table for the seafood tower. Yes. I said seafood tower. This was SO many lovely things to say about this place that have nothing to do with the food: *all of the waitstaff wears clean and CRISP uniforms. Their attention to grooming detail is worth remarking upon. Our server, Yoselin, even had her (impressively long) hair in a long braid down her back with perfectly spaced little puffs all the way down. *speaking of servers, while Yoselin was our server, in actuality we had 7. Everyone here was working together to serve the room, not their individual table or station. Water glasses don't stay empty more than a minute, because ALL of the servers will step in to fill a glass when/if they spot it. *server response time to the needs of diners is impressive. At one point in the evening my friend dropped her knife. By the time she straightened in her chair from picking it up, Yoselin was standing there to take it. Two seconds later she handed my friend a new knife. There was no waiting, no being forgotten, no having to share a piece of cutlery because your server is overwhelmed and poorly-supported/trained. My ONLY real issue with dinner (and why this place doesn't get 5 stars), is because of the barnacles on my lobsters on the seafood tower. Whoever is on prep at this place neglected to devein the lobster and didn't remove the (many) barnacles on the shell. Cracking lobster shells is hard enough, but trying to crack them without shattering the barnacles, which disintegrate into a gritty powder that gets all over the meat and makes it inedible, is not my idea of fine dining. I REALLY enjoyed the service here, truly I did, but for the amount they charge for a lobster tower, someone could take an extra 3 minutes and clean those barnacles from the seafood before cooking and serving.

Wonderful service and some of the greatest paella I've ever had, even cool for sitting down at the bar and having a few drinks , nice cigar selection too for those who wanna hang out in the back , based only on 3 experiences the food has been great every single time !

Let me start by saying--this place serves the best paella I've had in New Jersey. Honestly, it even beats out many of the more famous spots in Manhattan that are known for paella. As soon as we were seated, a food runner brought over a house salad--no explanation, no menu mention, just placed it down in front of us. At first, we were a bit confused, wondering if we had mistakenly ordered something. But then realized it was complimentary! The portion and quality easily rival a $18 side salad at other restaurants. It set the tone for the rest of the evening in the best way possible. They also brought out warm bread with butter and olives, again complimentary. That level of hospitality is rare these days, especially in places that are this generous with portions and presentation. At first glance, I assumed the menu leaned toward a tapas-style concept. But once I looked closer, I realized these weren't small plates--they were full entrées, meant to be shared. Honestly, one dish could easily serve three to four people. We had originally planned to try several different things, but after the complimentary salad and bread, we decided to keep it simple and go with one paella and two smaller side dishes. In hindsight, it was the perfect choice--I was already getting full before the main even arrived! But I'm so glad we saved room for the paella. It was rich, comforting, and loaded with fresh seafood. And the sangria--wow. Fruity, balanced, not too sweet. I almost regretted not ordering a pitcher, but since I was the only one drinking, I settled for two glasses... and savored every sip. The service was another highlight. The staff were attentive and efficient without being overbearing. There was an older gentleman in a sharp suit--clearly the manager or owner--who walked the dining room throughout the evening ensuring everything ran smoothly. You could tell he genuinely cared. We had planned to order dessert, but honestly, we were stuffed. Then came another surprise: as we asked for the check, out came complimentary churros with warm chocolate dipping sauce. And not just one to share--they gave each of us our own little cup of chocolate dip. That kind of thoughtfulness and generosity is so rare these days. It made us feel truly taken care of. This place completely won me over--from the incredible food to the heartfelt hospitality. It's the kind of restaurant you leave already thinking about when you can come back. I can confidently say it's going straight to the top of my "must-visit again" list.

Always reliable and great place to eat with friends and family. Paella, steak, lobster, tomahawk, shrimp and more! Wine all good! Service was good, ambiance excellent! Great place for birthday celebrations as well! Go but make a reservations!

Haven't been there in a few years. I could literally slap myself for that! What a gem I've been missing out on. Forno's is top billing in our rotation. Everything was supreme including our waiter Aguilar! His suggestions throughout our dinner were spot on. He is exceptional at what he does. Thank you for that Aguilar! If you want a wonderful experience drop what you're doing and treat yourself to an amazing place, FORNO'S.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. I enjoy the friendly atmosphere and the great service. They have a large number of wait staff that are constantly available, you never feel like you are being ignored here. They start you off with a salad and some antipasto before you even get to see the menu, which I think is an enjoyable experience. Then you can order some appetizers and main courses, and the food is delicious. I ordered the paella, and really enjoyed it. Finished it off with the lemon sorbet and some espresso - perfect finish. I will be looking forward to the next time I can come back!

The food is classic Spanish/Portuguese and absolutely delicious. The service and atmosphere are charmingly old-fashioned. Situated in Newark's down neck area, it's conveniently located near plenty of other fantastic dining options, making it a must-try. The service is truly exceptional! If you're going on a Sunday, it's definitely best to go early. I don't have any suggestions for Friday or Saturday. For a dessert option, consider either Nastos or Texieria on the way home after you've finished at Fornos. It's a solid choice. Parking's always a little tricky around here. It's a bit of luck whether you can snag a spot or not. I'm actually not sure if Fornos has its own little lot - I often get it mixed up with another restaurant on Greene St.

10/10 for sure!!! We go out to eat a lot and this restaurant really goes over and beyond it all!! Go early is your best bet! We came on Saturday at 4 o'clock before a Devils game. It was perfect timing! From the minute you walk in it is a very warm and inviting decor. Once you are seated they start you off with a free salad and olives and bread. Then of course you have to get sangria when you are at a Spanish place. It wasn't too sweet just right! Garlic shrimp is a must for appetizer. We also got stuffed avocado which was a good choice. Our dinners were all excellent!! I had chillian sea bass which was so fresh and cooked just right! I also got asparagus on the side. They were the biggest I have ever seen! For dessert they gave us free churros with each individual cups of chocolate to dip. Wow! So good!! Another thing that impressed me was when they gave us our goodie bag and they bought over stools to place it on. Never did I see this done anywhere! The service was just spot on!! If you haven't been here it's time to go!!

One of the places I loved to frequent when I lived and worked in the city however a bit disappointed this time around ! Shrimp cocktail not pictured here was hard with a bad after taste. Clams casino were cold & felt as if they were sitting for a bit! Seabass had zero flavor! I did not finish it & had it packed up not sure why! I really missed you guys but unfortunately The service felt very rushed due to a number of events they had, like they needed the table not sure why as there were empty tables. Ambiance was a bit loud but that's due to the events that were taking place. There was 4 of us & bill was $500!! Whoa! Farewell on my end

Want to start off with every time I come here it's always a 5 star experience. From the food/service/ and ambience. We came in on a Sunday afternoon with no reservation and was sat rite away. Was handed a salad/bread/olives and olive oil before ordering our apps and entree. We had a bacon with fig glaze to start which is our favorite. Then we split the paella which is humungous and delish. Our server was great and attentive. We love this place and always try to swing by when we're around thank you guys for an amazing experience!!

This place has been around for a long time and they food and service show why they have been able to keep in business. They do a great job on unique dishes and the service is equally great. The layout is flexible for different groups and the valet parking in Newark is a big plus. Great place please enjoy.

Great service and delicious food make this restaurant a hit . The house salad is so fresh with a variety of greens and hearts of palm lightly dressed with balsamic vinaigrette. The rolls fresh and sangria is a flowing . Lobster bisque is creamy with small pieces of lobster. The croquettes deep fried with fresh shrimp and lobster bits, the meatballs have a slight spice which sneaks up on ya. The shrimp is seasoned just right . Save room for the delicious churros with chocolate rich dipping sauce.

This is a very elegant, beautiful restaurant. The staff is so friendly and very welcoming very good service. They literally will help you with anything from problems with your food to literally putting in your bag on a little stool. The food was incredible and humongous portions. I would say either be ready to bring home a ton of leftovers or be willing to share. I ordered the lamb chops, which were amazing and my sister ordered the paella Valencia, which was delicious. They also start you off with a salad and bread. So definitely come hungry.

This restaurant is a well run machine with a solid set of clientele based on the prompt and satisfying experience. Everyone should give this spot a try when looking to experience good tasting Spanish food. The menu offers a good selection to pick from. Our large party of 10 got to taste a number of appetizers and main dishes that filled our palettes with a smile. Appetizers tried were: octopus, squid, bacon (our favorite), tuna tartare, cod fish, escargot and white asparagus. Main dishes were: 4 different types of paella ( spring, squid ink, chicken and seafood). Three of these had some variety of seafood. Veal, and orange duck. There were sides provided that were rice and vegetables. Complimentary salad and dessert (churros and chocolate dip. Everything was flavorful. Can't complain about any dish. The service was prompt and provided with smiles all around. Great overall experience!!!

The food is plentiful and so good. The service is top notch and attentive. The place looks fantastic, decked out for the season. Get the red sangria.

Wonderful family restaurant with taste of Spain. Sangria, Lobster seafood paella, skirt steak with great sides put smiles on my kids & grandparents. Plus valet parking just for a tip. It's OK it's very hard. Did you do you lay it overall turn the light like let me see what

So expensive. And they charge full price for every soda refill. There are better choices I think.

First rate top notch service. Wonderful Spanish food and a cooler European (Spanish) vibe this place is amazing. Paella Valencia , squid ink paella, lobster,calamari and callos (tripe) were really well done. Desserts were also great. Definitely recommend this place!

The food was excellent, the service was top notch, and the atmosphere was fun. There were at least 9 different paella's to choose from, and many more things as well. The lunch portion was enough for 2 meals.

Enjoyable atmosphere, attentive service and a multi course meal which was a pleasant surprise. Enjoyed a wide range of appetizers, salmon and ravioli for dinner and was amazed by the diverse dessert selection. First time visiting and will make it a mainstay whenever I'm in Newark.

Fornos of Spain is working hard to keep you extremely full! Shortly after being seated it's likely you'll be saying, "oh we didn't order yet," when a waiter places a big plate of salad in front of you with some olives and lots of bread! This place is definitely somewhere you'll want to do family style as the dishes are huge and all entrees come with yellow rice, potato chips, and green beans. We shared the ceviche and mariscado de Forno and had enough seafood for the next day to make a nice leftover soup with crackers. My favorite dish was ceviche. Overall the service is great, but the food could be better.

This was my first time at Fornos of Spain. I am not a big fan of Spanish food, but this isn't Latin American Spanish food of rice, beans, chicken, or plantains but European Spanish Spanish food. This is authentic food with seafood. I must say from the menu Spanish love them some seafood. You see all the seafood from Squid, Octopus, Scallops, Shrimp and Lobster. I ordered Lobster Bisque and Shrimp Risotto, and I had Sangria and some espresso shots. Lobster Bisque wasn't as thick as I thought but was delicious. The first thing I looked for in that soup was how much lobster they put in the soup, and it was like half of a quarter of lobster, which isn't much but more than what most places in it are. So overall, I would give it a 3 out of 5. I would put more lobster in it, and you could get a 4 out of 5. Next was the Shrimp Risotto. When I had this, I thought of it like the way Italians make it, but a little more milky, but it wasn't. Overall, it was good. They had baby shrimp and Jumbo Shrimp in it. For a $45 dish, they weren't short on the shrimp, so I give it a 4 out of 5. The drink Sangria was the best. The red one had me lit. They had bread, olives, and a salad. I'm not a big fan of olives, so I didn't eat them. But the garlic bread was delicious, and when you add some butter to it, it's amazing. The waiting staff was always there to refill and improve the food. We had a minor incident where a bug came out, and they did a fantastic job correcting and improving it. They brought out a fresh dining line, cleaned it off, and added something complimentary to the meal, which shows they were embarrassed that it happened. I love them for their lovingness. The restaurant looked a bit old on the inside, but the ambiance was family-style. This is a restaurant for something classy, a date, or just romantic. This place has an outside portion, and it would be awesome if we tried it. I want to come back to try other things at this restaurant. It is expensive but worth the money.

Forno's elevated a snack and a glass of sangria at the bar to a scrumptious meal. I ordered shrimp in garlic sauce which was a spicy, garlicky party in my mouth. Highly recommended for friendly but formal service and great food.

Growing up in the neighboring town, Fornos was legendary. Everyone talked about it as the premiere place for a fancy dinner. I don't know why I never made it here before but last night, I finally had the opportunity. First impression, the valet attendant was lovely. A warm welcoming smile and greeting to start my night is a sign of good things to come. I informed the hostess that I was there for the timeleft app dinner. She seated me right away and the table was pristine. Bread service came with olives. The Portuguese rolls were as fresh as can be. Their complimentary house salad was fantastic. Hearts of palm with a wonderful vinaigrette. Everything crisp and fresh. I ordered the signature Paella Del Mar. Unfortunately, there was something amiss. And my table mate who ordered the same thing agreed. I think I miss the wine flavor that I get from my favorite Spanish place. The dish tasted unseasoned even though I don't think salt would've done the trick. The churros were AMAZING with the chocolate sauce. I think I ate half of it and my table mates only had one churro each. I was soooo good! I've never had churros so tender and crunchy at the same time. I would go back just for that! Service was spectacular but honestly, I've never had bad service at a Spanish restaurant. Incredibly attentive and kind. Other than the mid Paella, a great experience. Even the bathrooms were nice!

Great restaurant with good Spanish food. There is a valet parking which is plus for the area- if you are familiar with the area then you know how difficult it is to find parking in Newark. They serve big portions so beware and the service is always five-star, professional and quick. Went for my dad's birthday- we were a party of 8 people and knew how much to order exactly! Almost everything was exceptional- starting from the sangria to all the paellas we got- however, I got the lamb rack with what I thought was "mashed potatoes" and it was just OK- overwhelming :( the mashed was not regular potatoes, it was sweet to the taste. The lamb was also ok (as you can see in the image it didn't look as appetizing, but the NY strip that 2 people in my table ordered was perfection! If you have a big group, def make reservations in advance as they get quite busy at any hour of the day!

My wife and I met friends for a really fun dinner at Fornos. On a rainy Friday night, we made our way to Newark to try this restaurant. With the Devils playing a few blocks away, the area was busy, but fortunately the restaurant has valet parking. This is a large place with a service staff that has been here a long time and does an excellent job taking care of patrons. We started off with a pitcher of red sangria which was delicious. Bread and olives are served before the meal. The olives had a real spice to them. A large salad was served for the 4 of us. It was really good with a salty taste. We split a large plate of calamari as an appetizer. For entrees, we had 2 orders of Shrimp in garlic which comes with rice, vegetables, and potato chips. Plenty of food for all of us! We topped off the meal with the tres leches cake and coffee. Fantastic dinner! If you're in NJ and looking for outstanding Portuguese/Spanish food, Fornos is a must stop!

My sister and I had the paella and it was delightful. The staff were so sweet and welcoming. It was an amazing experience with great food and amazing company.

Lovely restaurant with good Spanish food. There is valet parking in the rear, but it's worth it to not try to circle around looking for street parking near Penn Station. The chorizo appetizer was amazing, nice and salty and came with olives. My main dish was the paella marinera which was chock full different seafood. It was so much that it made a great secondary dish the next day (it's possible to heat up in the skillet). I was personally too full for dessert, but someone at my table had the pistachio tartufo which felt like a unique take on the Spanish dessert. The end of the meal did come with complementary churros and chocolate sauce. A win! This place is upscale, but all the food was amazing, and it was a great place to gather with friends.
