Modern Thai eatery with small plates, family-style dishes & cocktails

"Yes, Daughter Thai makes excellent panang curry and pad see ew, but it’s the elevated Northern Thai specialties that make this place stand out. Take the mea sai khao soi, which mixes crispy duck confit and a tangle of egg noodles in a spicy coconut curry, or the vibrant larb salad with a mound of soft-shell crab in a citrusy sauce. Whatever you order, you’ll be eating it in a sleek, curtained dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows for prime Platte St. people-watching." - Allyson Reedy

"On the upscale side of the spectrum, this Platte Street looker goes gourmet at every turn: Think curries with lamb, black cod, or mussels; larb with softshell crab; or the popular Volcanic Beef in a velvety chili-garlic sauce beneath a tower of onion rings. The bar follows suit, turning out smart cocktails infused with peanuts, lemongrass, butterfly-pea tea, and aquafaba." - Ruth Tobias

"Located in the new Riverview building in LoHi, I encountered Daughter Thai Kitchen & Bar, the new restaurant from Ounjit Hardacre (owner of Citizen Thai in Golden) that brings an elegant, boutique-style Thai dining option to an upscale spot between the Platte River and I-25. Hardacre told me she wanted to recreate the kind of decorative, leisurely Thai restaurants she knew in San Francisco, so she focused as much on the design as the food to create a memorable space. The centerpiece is a set of large red-and-gold lanterns—meant to evoke temple bells and weighing about 80 pounds—set among simple, elegant flourishes like white curtains, a red bar, and a mural of a dancing woman and a Thai temple at sunset (the woman represents the “daughter,” which is why the owners named the restaurant their daughter). The food and cocktails follow that stylish approach: dishes such as the Kang Ped Duck and the Pad Thai Gong are beautifully presented (the Pad Thai Gong comes with jumbo prawns and a purple orchid), and the cocktails are richly colored and carefully garnished." - Paul Albani-Burgio

"Brought to LoHi by the owners of Golden’s Citizen Thai, Daughter Thai Kitchen & Bar opened earlier this week as an upscale, more elegant take on Thai cuisine that emphasizes plate presentation and culinary quality and aims to offer a stylish, date-friendly ambience. The space, located on the ground floor of the new Riverview office building at 1700 Platte Street, is sleek and artful with hanging light fixtures, white curtains, and a wall mural depicting Thai temples. The menu is described as less traditional and more of a Thai-fusion approach, divided into small plates, Thai street food (including pad thai and pineapple fried rice) and entrees, and includes unusual items like quail tod—deep-fried quail with pepper sauce, fried garlic, and leeks—and a lamb massaman that incorporates extra lychee for a sweeter, more flavorful twist. Street food dishes range $15–$19, entrees $18–$32, and a lunch menu runs $13–$18. The bar features both Asian and American beers on tap, Asian-inspired cocktails, and a limited wine list." - Paul Albani-Burgio
A polished standard-bearer with regional dishes, serious spice control, and a cocktail program to match. Consistently spotlighted by Eater Denver and 5280, and a multi-year Westword Readers’ Choice favorite—proof it’s a modern essential with Denver roots.
