Spanish small plates, beer, wine, and cocktails offered in a cozy space with live music.
"This Midtown Spanish tapas bar is our go-to place to buffer (or entirely avoid) awkward conversations. On some nights, Flamenco dancers strut around tables or a DJ spins a set of Latin and dance music so loud you'll have to communicate through nods and facial cues. And on Fridays, they offer Salsa and bachata lessons in the basement. It all works to keep the energy high enough that you can forgive the mostly mediocre menu. Just stick to our favorites: the scallop ceviche in a spicy pepper sauce and the ricotta and fig jam spread with crusty sourdough. On nice days, we’ll happily plant ourselves on the patio underneath the colorful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling and sip Sebastian's signature gin cocktails." - nina reeder, juli horsford, jacinta howard
"Whenever a certain coworker wants to get together to reminisce about all the good times that never were, this Midtown Spanish tapas bar is our go-to place to buffer awkward conversations. On some nights, Flamenco dancers and a DJ keep the energy levels high while you order a steady stream of small plates. Begin with our favorites, the scallop ceviche in a spicy pepper sauce and the ricotta and fig jam spread with crusty sourdough. On nice days, we’ll happily plant ourselves on the patio underneath the colorful umbrellas hanging from the ceiling and sip Sebastian's signature gin cocktails." - Juli Horsford
"Tapas restaurant Sebastian Pintxos Bar, from the owners of the Sivas, opens Sunday, October 30, in the former Takorea space on Juniper Street in Midtown. And it features over 50 gins behind the bar and table-side sangria service. The menu centers on dishes by chef Ilkay Suuctugu styled after those found at restaurants throughout the Basque region of Spain, according to a press release. Expect a selection of pintxos (shared snacks), meats and cheeses, vegetable and meat entrees, and a number of desserts. In addition to dinner daily, Sebastian Pintxos Bar also serves late-night food, starting at 11 p.m., and weekend brunch. A tapas happy hour takes place weekdays, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Look for Spanish wines, sangria prepared at the table, and more than 50 gins behind the bar for making a range of cocktails, including Spanish-style gin and tonics, which are typically garnished with fresh herbs, fruit, flowers, and other botanicals served in a ballon glass. Sebastian Pintxos Bar plans to regularly host live music and DJs, along with flamenco dancers and other live performances during the week. Eater reached out to Sebastian Pintxos Bar for a menu and further details. 818 Juniper Street, Atlanta. sebastianpintxosbar.com.
