The ice cream was creamy, delicious, & about a cause! Lots of seating indoors and outdoors. There’s a chalk board for kids to draw and be creative. The service was mediocre at best and could’ve easily been better. They were unnecessarily slow & while on their phones.

Cute little ice cream area in the neighborhood. Inside is but so big so, they do have sitting area outside. If you want ice cream that’s really sweet. This is the place for you. I had the cherry with walnuts in it.

This place is so cute! I visited here when my friend Rexs Icecream collabed with Sugar Hill Creamery and the icecream was fantastic. The interior is also very nice with a good amount of seating. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, and it’s the perfect place to go on a hot day.

The vanilla ice cream corn from Sugar Hill Creamy was delicious. After ordering, we went for a walk in the Central Park Conservatory Garden. It’s such a beautiful afternoon that day, and the ice cream made it even sweeter.

First time visit the store and I got two scoops, vegan dark chocolate, and the corn flavor ice cream with plum purée. I won’t say it’s the best ice cream but worth to explore since their flavors are special and the selections are impressive. The texture was smooth, but I hope it could be more creamy. However, my favorite actually goes to the butter cake and lemon.

Sugar Hill Creamery is a true gem! My date took me to Sugar Hill Creamery, his favorite ice cream spot in the neighborhood, and I'm so glad he did. Even though I'm lactose intolerant and probably shouldn't indulge, I'm always down for good ice cream, and this place did not disappoint! We went after dinner, and I opted for the caramel cookies and cream ice cream in a cup. It was everything my date raved about and more. The ice cream was rich, flavorful, and clearly handmade with love. You can truly taste the difference! The shop itself was cozy and well air-conditioned, with some great music playing in the background. The ice cream was so good that we ended up eating in blissful silence, just savoring every spoonful. I'll definitely be back, lactose intolerance be damned!

Came here as it's rated one of the top ice cream places in nyc. They have some great flavors, I tried the dark chocolate and peach cobbler and both were great! I will say this place offers unique options! I wouldn't really go here again because of the area that it's in. Overall, great shop to try innovative flavors but wouldn't recommend visiting because of location.

Blueberry Cheesecake flavor is my absolute favorite flavor from this business. It's in a cute little shop, marked with famous black figures with a blue background. Workers are always friendly. A must try black owned business :)

This spot was recommended to me by lots of people, and it still managed to exceed expectations! I went twice in the span of one week and can't wait to go back. Highly recommend. One day after church, a group of us decided to check out Sugar Hill Creamery. After having a sample of the Andy Griffin and the Tuma Buma, I ordered a Double scoop: Andy Griffin (vanilla bean) and Tuma Buna (Ethiopian coffee, ginger turmeric, and honey). It was everything I needed. The flavors were so rich and full of flavor. Honestly, the flavors complimented each other perfectly. I felt like although I was indulging, the calories didn't count as a way to justify my good choices...lol Of course, they counted, but a girl could dream. I am a fan of this charming, adorable spot that is doing a great service of providing high-quality, rich tasting ice cream.

Really complex and rich flavor with the Lemon Meringue cake one, forgot what it's called. It's like they somehow trapped the moist and buttery sensation you get from a cake and converted it to ice cream texture, temperature, and form. Peach Cobbler flavor was solid too, doesn't really taste like processed sugary peach but rather actual tangy and slightly sweet peach. Good Icecream, would recommend.

I did not expect to go to a place with such interesting flavors. This place really reminded me of those small ice creameries in secondary cities like St. Louis and Detroit that have so many fun and unique flavors. They also give you a huge scoop which is great! I ordered the Cafe Touba which has a base of Senegalese Coffee with Peanut Brittle, Cardamom, and Selim Pepper Brownies mixed into it. I don't know why, but it has a very strong ginger flavor to it which I enjoyed. Each bite was so interesting as you get all these delicious flavoring combinations elevating the essentially coffee ice cream you just ordered. I wish I had 3 scoops just so I could try all the different flavors that they had. Overall, fantastic experience at Sugar Hill Creamery and I will be back for more!

Excellent ice cream shop in Harlem. Delicious flavors - be ready for some modern spins (e.g., blackberry cheesecake and honey lavender) rather than the old school basics. Though the vanilla was heaven. We were there two nights on a recent trip to New York and had great service both times. The shop is intimate and welcoming. Wish it was closer to home.

Wow, I was in Harlem late night and wanted some ice cream. What a great accident find Easily some of the best ice cream I've had in nyc. I cannot tell a lie. I scream! You scream! My friend Rochelle screamed " I want ice cream"! We had just completed our Effy' s Kitchen lunch which was preceded by our six mile walk in the North Woods in Central Park. We usually indulge at Mojo but they unfortunately do not serve ice cream. Thus.. Sugar Hill Creamery came to the rescue! I'm usually a plain vanilla girl and I stared at the Andy Griffith vanilla bean concoction ( from Reunion Island in Africa) and decided to be a bit daring. I asked to try the Honey Lavender.. and fellow ice cream screamers that was it!!!!! This heavenly concoction was just heavenly... I love honey and never had lavender in my dessert but the combo was great and I believe contained caramel crunch? inside? Out of this world! Rochelle, got boring Dark Chocolate.. ho hum! Us Brooklynites live dangerously, Rochelle is from originally Queens and now a Manhattanite. Ho hum. The menu features unique flavors like Chairman of the Board and Hello, New World! ( see pics of menu) SHC also offers shakes and sells pints to go. They also offer gluten free and vegan flavors. SHC is a renown Harlem ice cream store and is on prime real estate.. there are numerous restaurants near it and it is a great place to have a refreshing ice cream treat. SHC, look out, this Brooklyn girl loves Harlem, especially Central Park Conservancy, and you will be seeing me! Hello Summer!

The store location is very small but has some seating and the walls were painted of portraits which was really cool. However it was a bit hot in there for an ice cream shop even though it was pretty packed and consistent. I tried 2 flavors and was told after the limit was 2. I ordered the Buggin Out- a malted vanilla milkshake flavor with clusters of chocolate covered Rice Krispies and Raspberry coulis.i loved it but personally didn't care for the chocolate covered Krispies. I ordered a one scoop which was about $5 and change. I was originally gonna order a float but the only choices of soda were ginger beer, orange and root beer. I would have preferred the traditional coke. Lastly 1 star goes away because even though it might not be the workers fault they are sweating because it's hot... the place smelled of sweat and armpit which was a definite stomach churner. Would try this place again but maybe a different location.

I'm always looking for good, unique ice cream and this spot seemed to check the boxes on our last NYC trip. My husband and I got scoops of Neneh Cherry, First Day Out, and Nunu's Peach Cobbler. The cherry was my personal favorite. I can't turn down juicy cherries in ice cream. We enjoyed all of the flavors and would come back!

This review has been sitting in my drafts for 2 years. Sigh. Long sigh. And I've been a regular at Sugarhill (Harlem) since 2018. And I haven't posted a single pic yet because I gobble down the goods asap and then they're gone. So here's my review, and I'll just add pics as I think of it over the years to come. The fact that they've since opened THREE more locations in response to demand should leave no question that they are simply THE BOMB. I love the ice cream, the creative flavors and the rotations, and the special treats such as the ice cream cakes and the ice cream hot chocolate in winter. But what I love most about Sugarhill is their respect for and embeddedness in the community. Their products are inspired by the people and histories that define the culture and character of the neighborhood, and the business participates in and even hosts community events and activities for families. Gotta love 'em! But the ice cream, y'all, for real. Last Thanksgiving I triple saran wrapped the Sweet Potato ice cream pie and packed it with ice packs in an insulated carrier and stashed it in my carry-on and smuggled it through TSA to fly it home to share with my family (yes, it survived, with just a slight melt on one side resulting in a small deformity in the top layer). My fave flavor is the Neneh Cherry. Go-to flavors include Chairperson of the Board, Nunu's Peach Cobbler, Harlem Sweeties, Cafe Touba, ASAP Rocky, and Brown Bombshell. I realize this is half their rotating flavors. But you'll see...

Frequent here quite often. Great for a quick scoop or a chill date night. Expect a line on summer weekends. I wish I could say I have a go to flavor but I like too many. I'm obsessed with the new Spring flavor - Fly Girl. It has honey and lavender such a natural sweetness. Also shoutout to the staff they are always smiling, having a good time. Contagious energy. Definitely the type of people you want in your local ice cream shop.

Sugar Hill Creamery is hands down the best ice cream shop in Harlem, and top three in Manhattan. I come more often than I should - not even a global pandemic could keep us apart. In fact, they had a really nifty walk up window that was perfect for COVID safety. Sugar Hill Creamery has been my go-to place for a treat since it opened in 2017! All of the flavors are good, and there's a good balance between inventive ones and classics. You can try a few before making your decision. My favorite flavors are the blueberry cheesecake, peach cobbler, honey lavender, and coffee-brownie. To sweeten the deal (heh), the staff are super nice and absolute pros at scooping beautifully round balls of ice cream. The shop is owned by a local couple, and values being part of the Harlem community. 10/10!

Featuring premium seasonal ingredients within their ambitious, community-inspired flavor combinations, the shop's popularity spurred a handful of additional locations around NY. The original shop on Lenox is brightly lit and inviting, sporting a cobalt-and-white hexagon tiled floor and portraits of Harlem community members painted directly onto the half-moon recesses of the white walls. To the left, diagonally-slatted lightwood tables are lined up along a built-in booth. The short ice cream display is carefully curated with cursive business cards, each sporting a short description and an egg yolk-yellow watermark. A clear water dispenser and a column of small cups are set up beside the register, and a minifridge of pints is available for grab-and-go. Expect a steady stream of locals hoping to satisfy their ice cream cravings. My partner and I arrived early afternoon on a weekday, and the scoopster entertained my request to sample 5 flavors. All were delicious, so we opted to split a Triple. Immediately, was pleased to be served 3 large scoops, a generous anomaly among small-batch ice creameries. The Cafe Touba (Senegalese coffee with brownie and peanut brittle) had an intensely spiced java flavor, well-complemented by the sweet, crisp brittle. Meanwhile, the Hello New World (Sugar Hill's sophisticated take on cookies & cream) sported a mix of chewy, buttery shortbread wafers and swirls of caramel. Finally, the Brown Bombshell (milk chocolate base with blondies, pecans, and caramel) featured the sweet richness of brownie batter with an enjoyable nutty crunch. The combinations were all superb, but I was most impressed that the base ice cream was lusciously flavorful as a stand-alone entity. And at a reasonable $10 for 3 shareably-hefty scoops, splurging at Sugar Hill won't leave you feeling short-changed. I can't wait to check out what novel mixes Sugar Hill will have on draught next time I'm in the neighborhood.

I came to the Harlem location for a Yelp Elite promotion and was not disappointed! I've always loved Sugar Hill, but had never been to this location before. It's easy to get to and very nice on the inside. I love how community-driven it feels. There are murals of locals on the walls! As always, their ice cream did not disappoint. I got a scoop of "hello new world" and of peach cobbler. Delicious! Their ice cream is always very creamy and soft, and their flavors are so fun. I was impressed by both that I got. Plus a single scoop is only $5 which is not bad for New York prices!

Now this place is a gem! A double scoop was the perfect amount to share with two people. I loved how creative the flavors were. I got a sample of the family business and carrot cake and knew that family business was the way to go. To be honest, I didn't know they did samples before I asked, but luckily they did. All the employees were super nice. There seemed to be a family with young kids also in the shop in the time and the employees were very understanding and friendly to them. The music was bopping and the murals on the wall were beautiful. I haven't found an ice cream spot with a really interesting new flavor that I enjoyed as much as this in so long. I'll definitely come again.

Late night ice cream run in the middle of summer! I ordered a single scoop of the crème fraîche cherry walnut. It was divine. The staff was friendly, the location was "hole in the wall" like as well as under a whole bunch of scaffolding, but where in NYC isn't!? I would come again to try more flavors if I am ever in Harlem again. Such a great ice cream shop find!

LET'S SET THE SCENE: a breezy almost-summer day. 60 degrees. Me in shorts, feeling the air on my legs. My cousin beside me, the air whipping through her long hair. Us, slightly cold, happily walking into Sugar Hill. What sets this creamery apart is by far the unique flavors. Never before have I been able to try a squash, zucchini bread, and pickled ginger ice cream and I'm reasonably certain that I'll never be able to try it anywhere other than Sugar Hill. I love that they have a rotating menu-- keeps things exciting for any regulars-- and is such a good marketing tactic that I absolutely eat up. They allow you to have three samples, which are absolutely HEAPING. Like, so generous. And they're served on reusable spoons, which I love. I personally had one scoop of the Fly Girl (Honey Lavender) and one scoop of the All Inclusive (Rice Pudding, Mango, and Maduros). The all inclusive was amazing- I love rice pudding and it was amazing to me how they were able to get the flavor of rice pudding into ice cream form. It was rice pudding without the rice pudding texture... magic. Unfortunately, Fly Girl was a bit underwhelming. Although the flavor of the honey lavender was very nice, it was just a little too sweet. But I know that it was probably too sweet for my taste and that people with a little sweeter of a sweet tooth might appreciate it more. I usually get cones when I buy ice cream, but I had read some other reviews that mentioned how melty some of these flavors could be, so I went for the cup. I'm so glad I did because this scoop melted insanely fast. Meanwhile, the All Inclusive held together as you'd usually expect ice cream to hold up. This combination meant that by the end, I had a lump of the All Inclusive ice cream just swimming in a puddle of Fly Girl. So the inconsistency of melty vs not melted keeps you on your toes. Will the flavor you got melt? Or won't it? Not exactly the surprise you want in every scoop. Was very happy to visit this small business and try out such special flavors!

Wow. The ice cream here is fantastic. Not only is the ice cream quality top notch, but the unique flavors makes this an experience unlike others. I got two scoops, one blueberry cobbler, and other called the "All Inclusive". The cobbler was fantastic. Big chunks of blueberries and crunch cobbler are generously yet sophisticatedly dispersed throughout. The rich, creamy vanilla ice cream is the perfect mix for this. The All Inclusive was a real treat. This is a rice pudding based ice cream with mangos and maduros (plantains). This melds several different cultures and continents into one delectable dessert. The ice cream itself tastes just like rice pudding only creamier. And there is a good mango flavor throughout. You also will get those excellent bites that have chunks of mangoes or plantains. The restaurant is currently hard to find as there is a giant scaffolding outside the business, however do come here to be blown away by the quality of this product.

I Live It How I Get It and Hello New World are unreal. Truly. The Sweet Socialism is a very dark chocolate my family loved. So great, easy 5 stars.

Don't sleep on this spot! Went last night on a whim and it was incredible. After sampling the blueberry cheesecake and the cookies & cream/pumpkin pie, we decided on the second. We got a single scoop in a waffle cone (generous enough for two people to share). It was delicious - creamy, sweet and decadent. Will be back to try the other flavors!

My partner has a thing for ice cream and Sugar Hill helped him through the pandemic providing tasty and unique flavors. We come at least once a month (doesn't hurt that I got him the Ice Cream Sandwich on the Month Club card -- SUCH a good deal!!) and i always make it a point to bring visiting friends and family when they swing through the city. I love being able to support Black-owned and family businesses too.

The first time I went here I was impressed with the creative flavors, the layout and the friendly staff. We came with a group of students for an after school activity and they were extremely patient. Since this visit I have gotten them delivered to my apartment. The delivery always comes well packaged and is delicious. I don't really love sweets but once in awhile I crave a brownie sundae. My most recent order was the ice cream sundae with blueberry cheesecake and milk chocolate hazelnut ice cream. It came with brownie pieces, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream. I will definitely be treating myself to this treat again!

This is the best spot for a scoop in Harlem. The chairman of the board is my favorite flavor, but their seasonal rotations mean you're always trying something new. They even have 1-2 vegan options on hand.

And the great part is that their prices, flavors, and quality are still amazing! recently went back and 1 scoop is $5 and their scoops are BIG. such good value compared to some other spots around the city. flavors: honestly they are all good but some of my favorites... -peach cobbler -all inclusive -blueberry cheesecake -also tried the Cafe Touba sample and it was really good too highly recommend!

What a cute spot! I'm so glad that I finally visited this place as I had it bookmarked for quite some time. The Blueberry Cheesecake flavor is indeed delicious but the Honey Lavender (I believe this is what it's called) was right up my alley as I tend to gravitate more towards aromatic flavors. All in all, continue to support local businesses everyone!

Loved this place. The inside reminds me of an old school ice cream parlor and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Upon giving them my name for the Elite week, I selected my two flavors - Fly Girl, Lavender Honey and Nunu's Peach Cobbler. The Fly Girl was on top and the Nunu's on the bottom...I enjoyed the Fly Girl however the Nunu's took first place. I sat outside and enjoyed the ice cream then walked home. It was warm and the ice cream was melting so I had to eat it fast...sorry no pics this time. lol Glad this place isn't too far for me so I can walk off all the calories I'll enjoy!

The ice cream itself...absolutely delicious. I'll say first, the reason for 4 stars is because it was pretty warm inside the store. I actually preferred to eat outside because I was hot inside, and I think it made the ice cream soupy pretty quickly. You can kind of tell in my picture how when it was handed to me it was already slightly melted. From least favorite to favorite: The Andy Griffith was nothing particularly special, I wish I tasted more vanilla bean. But it was still really creamy and decadent. The Hello New World was SO good. I wish there had been a few more chunks but flavor was on point and I would definitely get it again. The Fly Girl (honey lavender) was seriously perfectly executed. I never would have imagined liking this flavor (in fact, I didn't even sample it, but my bf got it and I was so impressed). The lavender was subtle but you definitely tasted it and the honey was sweet but not overly sweet. Very unique, incredible flavor, and the perfect way to satisfy a sweet tooth. I would highly recommend it. I live a little bit away from Harlem but I really enjoyed coming here, as did my friends. They all said it was worth it and it seems like a really great small business.

How have I not reviewed this place yet, it's amazing! The cutest little family-owned ice cream shop in a great location with mouth-watering and creative flavors...so much to love! While some of the best flavors might be "out there" for some, they also have great takes on classic vanilla and chocolate, so don't be scared! For the slightly more adventurous, the blueberry cheesecake is fantastic, the vegan apple crumble is gooey and deliciously caramel-y, the carrot cake is divine, and there's usually a good rotation of crazy seasonal flavors with ideas you've never even thought to add to your ice cream. Run there! They even stay open into the evening, which is great! Lots of cute local shops to hit up in the neighboring area too, like NiLu and Trintage.

Another Harlem gem that I have been reluctant to review, but alas here I am. 5 stars of course. I've been coming here since they first opened and it's become weekly after dinner treat this spring/summer. A beautiful hour walk to/from does the soul good--especially with ice cream. Despite not being able to sample the various flavors they offer (also ever changing) I don't think I've ever had a bad flavor. Sure some are too sweet for my liking, but others are just incredible! I do absolutely love plain vanilla, but they most recently had a raspberry cookies & cream and WHOA MOMMA. I was floored. I wanted more. I needed more. Yes it was that good! I really hope they offer it again, but as you can see by my pics.. they do sell out. This is especially tough for an evening walker like myself, but I'm just happy that they're up and moving during COVID. The staff is always pleasant. Sad not to see the smiles behind the masks and for a shortie like me the high window makes it less personable, but thank you for being socially responsible!

Sugar Hill Creamery is the absolute best. All of the flavors are so inventive. What I like most is that their ice cream is not too sweet, it's the perfect blend of richness without being overly sweet. The staff is friendly and the space is usually clean as well. I am here nearly every week.
