The Ballard Cut - Review - Seattle - The Infatuation

"This Ballard pub is known for its extensive whiskey collection, and The Botanist is a gin that comes from a whiskey distillery, so it’s no surprise you can find it here. Get a Botanist & Tonic to go with everything from crispy pork belly with Korean barbecue sauce to venison tartare with juniper mignonette. Indoor dining is limited, but there’s also a fully covered, heated outdoor patio. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

I finally got a chance to visit this place after hearing about it for a while now. If you like whiskey and good food, this is the place to go to. Their selection of Japanese whiskey and bourbon is one of the best in town. We were able to try some rarer scotch and bourbon, which made my day. Their food program is pretty solid as well. We ordered the special Tomahawk to share with the table as well as a salad and crispy pork belly. The owner here is very knowledgeable about the spirits he carries. It was nice of him to ask us what we wanted to try and our price point. He then curated a tasting for us. Overall, the service was great and hospitable. I would come back here again when in the area.

Google
This place was wonderful! Staff was great, we asked for a handful for recommendations and they always brought us something perfect to taste It was our anniversary and they gave us our seat of choice which was sweet, as well as complimentary dessert and a tiny tasting of post dessert brandy. Expensive, but the food is well worth it. All the drinks are super tasty too. The bread is SOOOO GOOOOOD. same with the pasta and steak. I definitely over ate hahaha. So worth it. Great bar and great food!!!! Will be back. Staff, I love you. You're all so nice!!!!

The Ballard Cut: A Gem for Whiskey Lovers and Foodies Alike Nestled in the heart of Seattle, The Ballard Cut is a standout destination for those seeking an exceptional dining experience paired with an impressive bourbon and whiskey selection. From the moment you step through the door, the warm ambiance and attentive service set the stage for a memorable visit. The house-made pastas are a highlight, with dishes like the tagliatelle with wild mushroom ragu delivering rich, earthy flavors and perfectly al dente texture. Google
A Whisky Lover’s Haven in Seattle Ballard Cut is hands down one of the best whisky bars in Seattle. Their selection is phenomenal—whether you’re into Scotch, bourbon, Japanese, or something off the beaten path, they’ve got something to impress you. What really sets them apart, though, is the service. The staff are warm, welcoming, and genuinely excited to help you find something you’ll love. Tommy in particular is a standout—his knowledge and passion for whisky are unmatched, and he always manages to recommend something interesting without ever being pushy. One of the coolest things about Ballard Cut is that they offer half pours, which makes exploring the menu way more fun (and friendly on the wallet). The pricing across the board is very fair, especially considering the quality and rarity of some of the bottles they carry. If you’re serious about whisky—or just getting started—Ballard Cut is the kind of place you’ll want to keep coming back to.

Google
We went here primarily to have some great pours of bourbon as part of a double birthday celebration and the Ballard Cut didn't disappoint. Prices on many hard to find bourbons were very reasonable, they aren't giving the stuff away but you should be able to find a lot on the menu to try without feeling like you are being scammed. The cocktails are also top notch with some of the best quality happy hour cocktails I've seen. All of the food was great too, the pork belly being a stand out. No complaints about the carbonara, lamb, or steaks.

Google
Super friendly staff at a restaurant with a legendary selection of American and Scotch whiskies. Excellent cocktails made by friendly craftspeople. No BS service charge. Lots of barrel picks made by the owner that are fantastic available as pours. The owner is an active participant in making Ballard a vibrant place and does fundraisers and gives back to the community. This is the kind of restaurant we should all be supporting through and through.

Google
Had a pleasure of dining at The Ballard Cut in Seattle. A spot known for upscale yet approachable vibe. Overall it was an experience to remember. We started with steam clams and fried mushrooms. Clams were flavorful and well-seasoned, offering a unique and savory start to the evening. We had the dry-aged New York strip which was the highlight of the meal. Perfectly cooked to our liking, it was tender and packed with deep rich flavors that showcased the quality of the meat. To accompany the meal I opted for an espresso martini which was expertly crafted- strong and smooth. Provided a perfect finish to the dining experience. The Ballard Cut is fantastic choice for those looking to enjoy high-quality food and excellent service in a stylish setting.

Google
Some of the best, creative food we’ve had in a while. My wife and I shared the Lamb Loin with Cous Cous, and the NY Strip with Sweet Potato. Both were perfectly prepared, excellent dishes. We started with bread service and finished with the carrot cake, both also excellent. We started with a couple cocktails off the menu and moved to Cab-Franc for dinner which paired very well the meat dishes. We did see some others doing flights of whisky with the bottles lined up on the table which looked fun and we’ll try next time. The service was first class with 3 different staff taking care of us and the timing of everything was on point. All in all a great dining experience. Can’t wait to go back.

Yelp
I really enjoyed visiting the Ballard cut. Really clean ambience and a great place if you like whisky. They had a really wide collection of whiskies, bourbons, scotches, and other good stuff. The food was good too. Classic Old fashioned was good and we had a flight of scotches from not peated to peated and it was quite an experience. Scott at the bar is very knowledgeable and customized the service very well for us. Parking is a problem for this location. So be prepared to roam around for a spot or pay for paid parking.

Yelp
Best pork chop, great service, dark chic ambiance, inventive drinks. What more could you ask for? Yes, Ballard, like most busy neighborhoods downtown, is street parking, in case you weren't aware. Great experience, included a complimentary champagne for our special event.

Yelp
There is only street parking for the restaurant. We had a reservation, for a birthday, but the host took quite a while to seat the people in front of us and then us. There appeared to only be 2 wait Staff around attending to the whole restaurant. We inquired the Market Price Tomahawk steak which was $230. We decided not to order that. We ordered the tomahawk pork chop and it wasn't very special, very average size, but it was cooked perfectly and was juicy. The seasoning was very light. The crab tagliatelle hardly had any crab, and the pepper was so over powering that was all you could really taste. The presentation of the food looked beautiful. The taste was not so much. The cocktails were delicious. Our waiter hardly came to check on us. Only twice during our whole dinner. However he was friendly. There is also a 2.9 % processing fee for credit cards which I have never seen at a classy restaurant. Overall, the ambiance was beautiful, come in here for a cocktail. Would not recommend for dinner, the quality for the food was not worth the cost. Don't forget to get a reservation. They charge you for using your credit card.

Yelp
6/5 for whisk(e)y tastings. Their in-house whisk(e)y expert is top notch - can and will talk for hours about whisky, will create a custom flight for you, and help tailor it to both your preferences and wallet. Was great at checking in on us throughout our tasting, and answering our many questions. Only drawback is that there's one of him, which keeps other tables waiting (we didn't meet with him until after we'd already gotten appetizers). 3/5 for food. Was expecting more options for meat, especially steaks - only options were a market price tomahawk ribeye and $54 NY strip when we visited. Though we asked for rare and they temped it, the NY strip seemed medium rare, verging medium - perhaps just the tougher cut of strip steak that was used, it was hard to chew. The sweet potatoes on the side were tasteless and watery. The fried cauliflower was tasty but only lightly fried on the outside - most of it was a soft, steamed inside. The baby gems were wilting and partway to spoiled. Would return again but sit at the bar for a whisk(e)y tasting only - no food!

Yelp
i visited this spot with my partner and it was a wonderful dinner date vibes! sweet staffs with formal and quick service. the cheese on the salad was slightly overpowering but to each their own! the crispy pork belly was also amazing and a great starter with the drinks. halibut was perfectly cooked and the potato puree was also to die for! thank you for our wonderful dinner date and we will be back soon!

Yelp
TBC was recommended to me while I was eating at another restaurant! Now it did take awhile to hit it up, but it was my birthday and we decided to try it. First, it was dark and damp and winter, and we walked past it twice. Second, the vast selection of whiskey was overwhelming! But all I can remember was the pork chop. Thick, nice grill marks, perfectly cooked. It was a big un too. Great eats.

Yelp
Went to the Ballard Cut on a Friday evening with a party of 6. We had a reservation, so seating wasn't an issue. When we arrived around 7 pm there was plenty of seating, however it filled up by about 8:00 pm. We ordered the Crispy Pork Belly, Grilled Octopus, Dry-Aged New York Steak, Northwest King Salmon, and Friend Enoki Mushrooms. I also tried the Fried Cauliflower. Across the board, the food was good. Of the dishes that we tried, my favorite was the Crispy Pork Belly, followed by the Grilled Octopus. The Pork Belly had a nice sweetness from the BBQ sauce, which complemented the fattiness of the pork belly well. The Grilled Octopus was cooked well. It could've maybe been charred a bit more, but it wasn't rubbery and had a good flavor from the sauces on the plate. The Salmon was "okay." The skin was perfectly crispy, though the salmon was a little dry. Still good. The steak, was cooked to the requested temp and had good salt. It was a solid steak. The fried Enoki mushrooms and cauliflower both were a nice appetizer to enjoy with our drinks. Overall, good food. A bit expensive for what it is, but it was good. The staff and vibe of the restaurant is perfect for a night out with the friends or a date. Solid restaurant. I don't know if I'd go back, because nothing really jumped out to me, though nothing was bad either. It was good.

Yelp
A gem in Ballard! First of all if you are a bourbon, whiskey nerd then search no further, Tommy Patrick knows a thing or two about it. I will leave it at that. Otherwise, day two of their new location and double the size. For day two, they did not miss a beat, my hats off to them all! Anyhow, awesome service, best in the biz. Food was great, good portions and well priced. That bone-in pork chop, damn! Patio to sit outside or room inside, the place was comfortable and airy. I cannot say enough good things about the whole experience, this was not what I was expecting, they did exceed my expectations. Stop on in, make a reservation though and enjoy yourself. I know you will be pleased. Thank you for making an awesome experience!

Yelp
We ate here on our first night in Ballard/Seattle. It was one of our best meals. The drinks were great. The steak was really great, one of the best. Service was excellent. It was a really good dining experience all the way around. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Gorgeous restaurant in the heart of Ballard! Highly recommend the octopus and pork belly small plates to share. The salmon was also excellent and perfectly cooked.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally did. We had a reservation which I highly suggest making ahead of time. The staff was friendly and very help when answering questions. The vibe of the restaurant is cozy, it's a small but roomy space. The lighting made the mood and they played some good music, it was a little heard to hear across the table at time but that can be expected. We started off with the house penicillin and vieux carné for drinks an ordered the fried cauliflower for a starter. The flavors in the food go very well together, savory and delicious. The food was above my expectations! Definitely worth checking out for a date night or girls night out! The whiskey collection was my favorite part!

Yelp
My husband and I visited The Ballard Cut for a birthday meal, and had such a great first time experience at the restaurant. Everything from the service and drinks to the tasty appetizer and entrees was impeccable. We went with the: - Steamed Clams - We loved the twist on these steamed clams with the curry base - we left no broth behind! - Calabrian Sausage Linguini - You can't go wrong with a bit of carbs at dinner! Especially if it comes with sausage - Tomahawk Pork Chop - The highlight of the meal, the pork chop was so flavorful and tender, it was hard deciding who would get the last bit ;) - Spicy Mango Margarita & Summer Negroni I had mentioned that it was a birthday meal when making reservations, and the staff placed us at the cute little window table for an intimate setting. Also if you're having trouble finding street parking, we did find a paid lot around the corner from the restaurant. Overall, it's safe to say that we both had a wonderful time, and will be back for more!

Yelp
Went to Ballard Cut last night (Friday) as a group of 5 for my husband's birthday. We made a reservation and would definitely recommend doing this if you have over 2 people going. Jack was our waiter and he was awesome! Super attentive, friendly and steered us in the perfect direction with both food and drinks. For appetizers we got the charred pork belly (comes with 3 pieces, added two more) along with the fried cauliflower. The pork was incredible and each piece was the a great size for each of us. The flavor was heavenly, and the addition of the house made kimchi put it over the top. Really happy that they were able to add a couple more to the plate! Most of us aren't the biggest fans of cauliflower, but this was my favorite way I've had it so far. The whipped feta sauce was great and complimented all the spices wonderfully. We ended up getting the larger sized Tomahawk steak for all of us to share as a main, along with the carbonara. It was PERFECTION. Melt in your mouth delicious. We also appreciated that it came with plenty of charred broccolini and cheesy roasted potatoes. The carbonara was rich and delicious. The addition of a whole yolk to break over the fresh noodles at the table added a whole new level of creaminess. Leave room for dessert!! We tried all three options - Chèvre Cheesecake, Carrot Cake, and Tiramisu. These are not an afterthought. Every single one blew us away, but the favorite was definitely the cheesecake. The drinks were all top tier too. You can tell the bartenders know what they're doing. Great for a whiskey lover as well! In the end the bill was about $530 before tip. Split between all of us we got more than we would've expected for the price.

Yelp
Food was on point. But it took 90 mins to get the food and Tomahawk does take its time to cook, 90 mins is outrageous. Would have appreciated if I was properly communicated.

Yelp
Don't miss this incredible place. On our four-day trip to Seattle, we came here twice. The food was inventive, the cocktails were excellent, and the service was attentive.

Yelp
This is my favorite place in Seattle. Tommy is a great owner, and the servers are fantastic. The food is amazing, and the ambience is perfect for our birthdays, date nights, and just hanging out with friends.

Yelp
Very rarely will I give an establishment 5 stars, but Ballard Cut was truly a great experience. A friend and I went there just as they opened, around 5, and we were one of the first to get seated. Immediately, we were greeted with such warm and hospitality. We ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon, the Tomahawk Pork Chop and Carbonara. Both dishes were absolutely perfect. The tomahawk pork chop was huge, first of all. It was cooked to the perfect temperature and it was so tender. The carbonara leaned a little salty but that's because of the pancetta, and we didn't mind one bit. At the end of our meal, we ordered the tiramisu which was also delicious. I normally always order a tiramisu if it's available on any menu, and I'd say Ballard Cut has the best thus far. Overall, fantastic meal with equally fantastic service and environment. 10/10 recommend.

Yelp
The food, the ambiance, the service -- all 5 stars. If you need pointers on the apps, just get all of them. We ordered all of them to share for the table and it was so hard to pick a fav. If I had to pick, I would say the Pork Belly and the Cauliflower. Both were heavenly. The main course, you have a little bit of everything. I got the halibut and it was pretty damn good but the Calabrian Sausage Linguini and Pork Chops were definitely a step above. Also, you could order a few and ask for extra plates and share family style. You will get full real quick so pace yourself. Drinks or Mocktails -- all of them delish. Here's so photos to do the talking. Enjoy! Tip: Walk up the street to Gelato or Salt & Straw. Such a cute street to explore ...

Yelp
We've been excited to visit this spot and weren't disappointed. The bartenders were so kind and helpful. Incredible selection, reasonable prices, can't wait to go back

Yelp
This was such a great dining experience. If you are thinking of going - do it!!! From the hostess, to our server, the runner, and to the kind man who came up to tell us that the wine we ordered they did not have another bottle of (Tommy we think his name was - you made our night!), the people made the experience wonderful. We ordered drinks with the lamb tartare to start, and it was delicious. We both like our cocktails a certain way, and the newer server had no problem with exactly what we ordered. For our mains we ordered the steak and salmon, and each of us devoured our meals. When we ordered a bottle of wine, they unfortunately were out. Instead of bringing the menu back, an intelligent, kind, gentleman came back and offered us similar choices around the same price. You could tell he knew what he was talking about, and took time out of his night to talk with us. For a pricier dining experience in Seattle, this one is well worth it. We will 100% be returning for date night or stop in for cocktail.
google avatar

Yelp
Sooo good. This is a place worth going out of your way for. It's definitely the spot for a perfect Old Fashioned. Lots of great food choices. We ended up ordering a few of the appetizers for dinner -- cauliflower, lamb tartar, and pork belly. Everything was truly amazing. Dan the bartender helped make the experience. Already looking forward to next time.

Yelp
I'll admit, going in I was thinking 'great, another 'New American' place' but the food, vibe, service and experience here are damn delightful. DRANK My friend ordered a whiskey tasting. Whiskey-guy was kind and thoughtful with his questions to curate a delicious and interesting tasting. The tasting was presented and described beautifully and it was so fun! I don't know much about whiskey but I learned a lot. FOOD We ordered the lamb tartare, cauliflower, pork belly, salmon and chevre cheesecake. We probably ordered too much food but we cleaned every plate. - Tartare was flavorful, those microgreens tho... - Cauliflower was SO tasty but definitely enough for a crowd. - Pork belly, oh so tender and melt-in-your-mouthey, and I scooped up the edamame puree left on the plate with a fork. - Salmon cook was divine, the skin perfectly crispy. - Cheesecake was tangy and the caramel, not too sweet. SERVICE Our waitress was funny, attentive and positive and the pacing of our food was perfect. Overall highly recommend this spot and will definitely be back. Thank you for such a lovely experience!

Yelp
First of all, WOW. This place is outstanding - from the ambiance, to the service, to the drinks, to the food, to the overall vibe of the restaurant! My boyfriend and I made a reservation for our anniversary. We wanted to go someplace special. After reading great reviews about this place, we decided to try it! For a Tuesday, the place was packed. We definitely recommend placing a reservation. We were seated in a booth by the window and the vibe felt somewhere between Chicago and New York. Chic, yet a rustic charm. Our waiter was very personable, timely, and knowledgeable. He was quick with our requests and updated us when wait times were unusually long. We appreciated the communication! If you are a cocktail/ whisky connoisseur, this is your place. We wish we could have ordered more drinks, but the cider and cocktail we ordered were delicious. THE FOOD WAS BEYOND FLAVORFUL. My boyfriend and I shared the crispy cauliflower, crispy pork belly, and the tomahawk ribeye. First, the crispy cauliflower was not what I had expected. The amount of flavor and seasoning they coated in the cauliflower was amazing. The sauce and puree added a new depth of flavor I cannot explain. Regardless, I 10/10 recommend it! The crispy pork belly was just as flavorful. It could have been more tender, but the flavor profile makes up for it! They were also generous with the amount you get per plate, so that's a bonus. The "Big Boy" Ribeye/ "The Cut" was a show stopper. It was seasoned to perfection, cooked to perfection, and cut to perfection, 10000/10 would recommend! We could tell people that had walked by the restaurant, stopped to look at our ribeye from the window. Beautifully cooked and highly enjoyable! We will definitely be back for a second time!

Yelp
Ny husband and I have been here a few times, and we have a blast each time. Their cauliflower is really delicious - it almost looks like fried chicken, but stands its own. We get this as an appetizer every time we go. All of the entrees that we have had there are delicious as well (the portions are quite large and definitely shareable). Their staff members are really well-versed in whiskey and they have a huge selection (complete with a ladder to access the very top shelves). They will build you a flight at pretty much any tasting profile and price point - you just need to ask, and they'll deliver.
google avatar

Alex G.

Yelp
The Ballard Cut is simply excellent. Beyond having wonderful staff, delicious food, and a mind-melting bottle selection, they *enthusiastically* pour custom flights. I recently got to try the entire lineup of my favorite whiskey, and I'm not sure there's a single other place in the world where I could've done that. Thank you TBC team for being awesome! Highly recommended.

Yelp
I was disappointed to see a credit card transaction charge on the bill. When did restaurants start doing this? Even worst, there wasn't a mention of this until I saw it on the bill. Our bill was $190. We split the bill in two and the cc charge was $4.95 for each charge. Are they trying to make money on card transactions? It's new revenue stream. Food otherwise fine, but fee soured it for me.
google avatar

Alana N.

Yelp
Everything was 10/10. Went in there for my birthday celebration and they made me feel so special!(candles and even a free drink from the bar!) and the food was beyond amazing! The dry-aged literally melts in my mouth. Never had Octopus that tender before and the sauce that pairs the octopus go so well with even with the potatoes. Definitely coming back!
google avatar

Aditi S.

Yelp
Unfortunately my experience dining here was pretty average and did not live up to the 5 star reviews I see on here. Food: Personally, I thought the appetizers were much better than the entrees. We got the cauliflower, pork belly, and sausage. I'd give the cauliflower and sausage a 4/5 but the pork belly was definitely the winner for me. The entrees were pretty average and personally, seemed far too expensive for what we got. It's worth noting that this place is popular for its meat and steaks and we did not order any of those. We got their pastas and those were mediocre and not worth the price. Service: The service was great! Our server was so kind, thoughtful, and attentive. If I came back, I'd probably just do drinks and apps.

Bunvt ..

Yelp
Came here for the Whiskey selection, which was amazing! The food turned out to be top notch as well. If you're a whiskey enthusiast, this is the place to go, I had a great chat with the staff there and learned a lot while sipping on a flight that changes periodically in-house. It was a great time and I'll definitely frequent this place when I can.

Yelp
What they serve, they do extremely well. The bar program is notably one of the best in the city. They are consistent and spot on, every time.

Yelp
Incredible food! From appetizers, meals even dessert it was amazing. The scallops were perfectly seared, pasta had great flavor & dessert was the horchata tres leches was great. The Ballard cut has some of my favorite espresso martinis in Seattle. Over all great for a night out or special occasion, it is definitely on the pricey side!

Yelp
This is tucked away in the cool "restaurant" row of Ballard. With COVID, they've shrunk the lanes down to a single and there is outdoor seating all along the street. It really makes it pedestrian friendly. Also on Sundays there's a farmers market so this is a great spot to go after wandering up and down the many stalls. We were there for brunch and the potatoes were great as were the eggs. One of our party had the burger and sure looked delicious. The place has a great old feel to it and it is a nicely renovated area and part of a very cool hotel as well. So if you are in the neighborhood keep it in mind for a nice Sunday brunch :-)

Randy L.

Yelp
The ambiance was amazing and the staff was helpful, knowledgable and friendly. My wife picked this place out for our anniversary as she knew I loved whiskey (I know, I'm a lucky guy). The drinks were on point . From their whiskey selection to the cocktails, they made some amazing drinks - the bartender knew what they were doing for sure! For the price, the food was a huge disappointment. I want to start off by saying that I like salt and savory foods and as such, we ordered the pork belly, octopus, beef cheek ragu and crab pasta (don't remember what it was called). Everything was way too salty to the point where it ruined the meal, and I like my sodium. The octopus and pork belly came out first and we were able to get it down and thought it was a fluke due to what we ordered. The main entrees came and nope...more salt. All in all, my wife ran home and are drinking as much water as we can to flush this out of our system. The bill was $300 after tip for two people - way too much in my opinion for what the got. I'd go back just to hang out at the bar and drink but I don't recommend the food. Edit: also bring cash or debit as they will charge you an additional 2.9% if you use a credit card.

Yelp
A new favorite restaurant (right up there w/ ST Hooligans). I believe this is our 6th dinner here? Consistently fabulous. We always enjoy the pork belly, tonight we added tender grilled-to-perfection octopus. Every bite of both I said "I never want to eat anything in my life ever again but THIS". Craft cocktails are delicious, bartenders fun. It's always packed, both inside & outside in the heated covered seating. We've been lucky to get seated w/out Reservations yet I think we're going to have to wise-up & call ahead.

Yelp
Such a cool experience! If you are a whiskey fan you gotta check this place out. The whiskey selection is super expansive with bottles that are rare finds. The owner is a whiskey connoisseur and will come by himself to help with selection. The cocktails are also delicious so if whisky sippin is not your thing there are other options. We didn't eat much but did snack on fried cauliflower and it was yum yum yum. Every person working there was super friendly and provided superb service. Ambiance is excellent, I recommend sitting at the bar!

Yelp
Got that low key urge to go Conan the Barbarian? Ever feel like meat isn't just a side but can be the main and only dish? You've come to the right place and I initially though I wouldn't go full barbarian and maybe get something dainty and civilized but it was my birthday and I'd never had a tomahawk steak. Let's just say it was a glorious two-fists-wrapped-around-a-bone with some of the best tasting beef charred to perfection I've ever had. To compare, I often eat what Americans know as Kobe beef. As foodie beef eaters will know, Kobe beef is a misnomer and often not the same as Japanese A5 grade stuff. The Ballard Cut's Tommy was filled with flavor, richness and just something to splurge on and while different than Japanese high quality beef, equally as good! All in all a meal fit for the barbarian I am!

Yelp
I visited The Ballard Cut after looking for drinks in the neighborhood and loved the space. It would be easy to miss with the dark exterior and unassuming sign, but it was well worth the stop. The cocktail menu features a lot of whiskey and bourbon, but they have several other options with gin, rum, vodka, and tequila. I highly recommend the Grapefruit Gin Sour as an alternative! They have an impressive collection of high quality liquors that makes for a fun view at the bar. If you're a whiskey lover you definitely won't want to miss this spot.

Yelp
Ballard Cut is a must go to in Ballard. They give generous portions. The cocktails were really good. Their appetizers were tasty. Everything about this place. Aesthetics. Bartenders. Quality of food. 5/5! We got their pork belly appetizer with kimchi. They gave 3 pieces. Very flavorful with a Korean BBQ sauce. The third piece was HUGE. It filled us up. We should've asked for the appetizer way before our entrees bc they brought our main dishes out shortly after and I was pretty full at that point. We then ordered their Halibut and NY steak (not pictured). The Halibut was covered with crusted bacon. Which added so much flavor. The halibut itself was a little dry but I still liked it. The NY steak was tender and so flavorful. The sweet potatoes were even tasty. The entrees were both $40 each. Fairly reasonable considering the quality of the fish and meat. We went on a Friday night at 6:30pm and we were able to walk in and get seats at the bar. We didn't have reservations. It got buskers as we ended our meal.

Yelp
I love The Ballard Cut! The food is surprisingly delicious. It's a small spot amidst a row of other places, but it stands out. I saw the tomahawk pork chop on the menu and had to get it because if there's a pork chop on a menu, it's got to be good. It was delicious and huge. The steak was a bit smaller, but cooked well nonetheless. I was here when it was about 94 degrees outside and there was no AC, which is to be expected here in Seattle. Though I was expecting this, what I wasn't expecting was sitting next to an open kitchen with open flames. It was a scorcher in there. It almost made it difficult to enjoy the meal, as we were visibly dripping sweat. I was also here for NYE drinks last year, but couldn't agree to the prix fixe menu as it was wildly expensive.

Yelp
I have only come here for shareables/appetizers and it has all been delicious - looking forward to trying a steak dish soon. If you are whiskey lover then this place is a must. This place specializes in Japanese whiskeys but also have a big Irish and American selection as well. Some of the Japanese whiskeys you cannot simply buy here in the states. They hand deliver the bottles to your table so you can physically see the bottle you are getting the whiskey from. From the message above, you can see that the service is top notch. I've been here twice and look forward to coming back. If you come here expect to spend a bit more than you would typically expect to ensure you maximize your experience.

Yelp
Fabulous experience here with a group of girlfriends! Food/drinks: I enjoyed almost everything, and appreciated that they accommodated a gluten free/dairy free diet! Salad was fresh. Brussel sprouts were salty but really satisfying. Dry aged steak with sweet potato was delicious and also pretty large (I'd be scared to see the tomahawk!). The only thing I probably wouldn't do again was the octopus; it was a little too squishy and fishy tasting. And let's talk drinks - yum! Old fashioned and flannel pajamas were keepers. There are more I want to try! Service: Our server, Sassy, was sassy and killin' it! She was on point with all of our needs and requests, and a lot of fun. Ambiance: it's unassuming and intimate. I loved sitting in the window table with my group of gals. Would especially love to do drinks and apps here again!

Yelp
Hidden 3% credit card charges. Very tacky. On the plus side, they have paper menus. Food decent. But, let's price things honestly and move away from deceptive pricing.

Yelp
I don't really get why people like this place. Service and drinks are good but the food is incredibly bland and lackluster. At the prices they are charging the food needs to be great. Save your money and go to Flint Creek for much better steak and food overall at a similar price point.

Yelp
Excellent food, fantastic whiskey selection, quality service. Glad we had a reservation. The place seemed full even early. Bill for 2 was about $250 after tax and tip. We went for a birthday. We split a salad, which was big enough for 2. The dressing tasted great and was clearly made there. She had the pasta and I had the pork chop, which was really large, and kind of primally cut with the bone on. Had to navigate a bit of fat, but it was flavorful and well seasoned. Whisky-wise it's hard for me to pull the trigger on a pour that's over $50. But I learned they will give you a half pour. Standard size was a measured 1.5 ounces. I found a rare Hazelburn and settled on that one. Asked for a water dropper and they were happy to supply. So if you're a whisk(e)y nerd, this place passes the test. Rare bottles abound. Also had an old fashioned and it was quality.

Yelp
Went on a Tuesday night with coworkers to try this place out. I have to say that appetizers are really good and tasty, or at least the ones we had. Highlights: pork belly, fried cauliflower, beets are my favorite so definitely a must, octopus. For the main course I got the sausage linguini and while they were tasty I thought they were a bit salty for my taste. Next time I am definitely trying the pork chop as everyone couldn't stop talking about how good it was.

Yelp
Absolutely, hands down the best food, drinks, and desserts we had in a very very long time. We came to celebrate my birthday and everything, including the service, was two thumbs up! We will definitely be back.
