The Butcher Of Paris - Review - Le Marais - Paris - The Infatuation

"Paris’ oldest covered market is eternally crawling with tourists, but push your way through them to reach this glass-fronted butcher counter that doubles as a restaurant. You can choose your own steak from the case of glistening, dry-aged selections or simply tell the hipster-bearded butcher how much you’d like to spend and let him follow his whims. Either way, you’ll get a butcher board topped with griddled steak that’s been sliced for ease of sharing. The beef is paired with an ever-changing sauce that’s typically far herbier and zingier than anything the French ever invented. And that’s not the only thing they’re tweaking from more time-tested Parisian steak models. Classic French fries are replaced with char-grilled vegetables and phenomenal, fluffy sourdough, and frankly, we’re not mad about it." - Emily Monaco

It’s a butcher with seating area where you can make your steak selection at the butcher then go around for the seating area. Beautiful cuts and array of meats but I opted for the bread (with the block of butter than I would have loved to bring home) and steak tartare. No frills, lovely service. Note that there is a set time when the kitchen is closed but you can still get bread and charcuterie around that time.

Had an amazing lunch here before running to grab the Eurostar. The guys who work here are super nice and the vibes are as fantastic as the food. You choose your meat straight from the butchers cabinet. We had Denver beef steak and a chunky pork chop that came with vegetables and a delicious fresh sauce. Both were superb. Of course we had the bread and famous butter to soak up the mouth watering meat juices. I sampled some of their selection of natural wine which went down really well with the food. Do not miss this modern Paris hipster gem.

Hello all, Yesterday around 14 o’clock I eat at this restaurant with a friend. We had a really expensive steak which was not at all at the same level as the price. First, was not fresh, really hard to eat. Second, around evening we started to feel bad, having been like food poisoning. All day today we both felt sick with bad stomach problems and shivering towards the evening. I hope we get better without any big problems. Highly not recommending this restaurant, there are a lot of good restaurants for less money and better quality. Sorry, but it was a tourist trap.

Hello, Same as Cristian mentioned, we had lunch on Sunday 26th Oct25 (photo attached) and got a severe food poisoning starting from evening and all the day after with the full package of symptopms ending in a zombie mode as of Monday evening. Never had in Paris such a bad food experience to end up in this sick way.

We expected a long line but we only waited 15 minutes to be seated. You can choose between the 4/5 dishes on the menu or go to the butcher and as for recommendations between the + 40 cuts of more than 5 animals. They also help you with the wines since theres not a a wine list. Definitely will return

This place is a hidden gem. Off the beaten path in a small market in the middle of Paris, away from the masses in a nice intimate area. The staff is INCREDIBLE. The food is even better. We enjoyed the charcuterie and the tartare paired with a wonderful Chardonnay from Burgundy. 10/10 would do it again.

Fantastic place. Excellent food and service. We had a charcuterie board and the best bread and butter ever! The owners clearly care about good quality food and service.

Food was awesome, service Amazing! Arrived not knowing what we wanted, walked through the options by one of the staff. Settled on the plate of steak chosen from the cabinet. agreed how much to spend. They cooked it up & …oh boy was it good. Accompanied by a glass of red or two. Truly a great experience.
