"Frybread Lounge shakes up Old Town Scottsdale by spotlighting a staple of Indigenous communities — fry bread — in both savory and sweet forms, marking the area’s first Indigenous-owned restaurant. Chef Darryl Montana, an O’odham tribal member, anchors the kitchen with dishes like a Rez charcuterie board piled with Indigenous meats and jams, plus duck tinga fry bread spiced with adobo chiles and cilantro. Elk pozole with a side of fry bread and oysters dressed with prickly pear mignonette punctuate the menu, while a Painted Desert cocktail (Flagstaff gin, prickly pear, lime) adds an Arizona flourish. In a neighborhood often associated with stuffy dining, Frybread Lounge offers a fresh perspective — mixing and matching this time-honored bread in a way that feels both modern and rooted in Indigenous heritage." - Mcconnell Quinn, Nikki Buchanan

The food was awesome. I had the Bison rib eye and it was tender and seasoned well. The wild rice was a great addition to the meal. You won't leave her hungry! A few of us went and shared a few of the items so we could try as much as we could and it did not disappoint! We recommend 👌

I have a list that needs to be checked off every time I come to the valley. On that list is Frybread. I was so happy to find this place in downtown Scottsdale, and thatvis is native owned and operated. I also love that all food comes from the rez and I always prefer bison to beef. The frybread was cooked well and not greasy. The bison was rich and flavorful. I like my hatch chille sauce to have a touch more kick but have no complaints about the taste it added to the fry bread. The service was excellent. They kept opening the door to the outside, which made it very cold inside, or this would be 5 stars across the board. We also enjoyed the native art on the walls.

Google
Absolutely incredible. Food was amazing! We had the frybread flight, bison ribeye sandwich and the wild rice bowl. The wild rice bowl was unbelievably delicious. Bison ribeye was nice and tender. Everything was fantastic. Also love all the art on the walls. Highly recommend!

The atmosphere is nothing special, but the food was very tasty and unique. We had not tried Native American food before, so our server made some recommendations. We ended up with more food than we could eat, but it made a nice lunch the following day. They also had interesting drinks using prickly pear, another first for us. Consider it a culinary journey in spite of the spartan surroundings. Prices are reasonable. I have attached pics of the frybread and sauces, salad, drybread sandwich, my main with wild rice and two different mixed drinks, one alcoholic and one NA. If you found this review and the pics helpful, please click helpful.

Google
This is the first and only indigenous owned restaurant in Scottsdale and it does not disappoint. My wife has some food allergies and from the first interaction with our server we knew she would feel safe eating here. We tried the Bison Asada Tacos, the mini frybread taco, and a bison burger. Everything was cooked to perfection and so delicious. Great flavor and good portion sizes. The frybread is made by an older Navajo woman and is so tasty. If you are unfamiliar with it, it is similar to a funnel cake/bread. Would definitely return! Everyone should come try this place out! 11/10!!

Google
Amazing food and service. We are visiting from NY and were happy to have experienced this hidden gem in Old Town Scottsdale. Shea, our bartender/server was welcoming and charismatic sharing stories of her proud heritage. Food was first class and drinks added an extra bonus. Highly recommend and would definitely come back!

Google
Only place an individual or family can go and enjoy( no chemicals=processed turkey, pork, beef in a meal.) Only Bison, elk, duck, native to Arizona to Southwest. . What this means is. You'll get a better meal vs. A fast food burger shop for a better price. Plus it'll taste better too.. I order the 1/4 bison burger. It was great. Best burger this year... I am very proud of this restaurant taking on a large footprint. And taking a stand to open it's doors to the public.... the wild mushroom taco was to die for... talk about dietary and vegetarian options... I hope 🙏 they franchise out. Farm to table is rare . But not in Massachusetts. Thanks for the great FOOD! (#1)

We had such a deliciously lovely experience! The staff was exceedingly kind, friendly, knowledgeable, attentive, and helpful. The space was right in the middle of the action of Old Town Scottsdale and was decorated so nicely. And the food—oh my goodness, the food! We ordered the Rez Burger and the Charcuterie, as well as the tea, and everything was absolutely delicious. Knowing that all of the ingredients were Native and locally sourced was a great perk and added to the ambience of the flavors. We consider ourselves frybread connoisseurs and my partner in particular raved about the frybread—it wasn’t overly greasy, didn’t get soggy, and was just incredible. In the charcuterie board, we especially enjoyed the duck. I texted friends as soon as we left that we needed to come back immediately. This has become my new favorite place to take out of town guests! We highly recommend.

Yelp
the food, drinks and service were fantastic. we had the fry bread birria bison, and tepary beans. The Painted Desert cocktail was well balanced and delicious. Highly recommend this restaurant. do yourself a favor and go!

Yelp
Wasn't sure what to expect with bison tacos and wild mushrooms but was do pleasantly surprised- absolutely loved the bison and mushroom tacos and my friend really enjoyed the wild rice. Great service too. Highly recommend this restaurant for delicious and different food!!

Brooke B.

Yelp
very friendly and the food was delicious. served us fast. highly recommend! drinks and frybread were fantastic!

Yelp
I had the best experience EVER!! Everything is so delicious and the service was fantastic. This native owned and operated restaurant is next door to an equally as cool native shop, where every piece has a story, which they have on display! I felt so let into such rich history and the food is incredible. The Frybread came with 4 "dips" (honey, powdered sugar, prickly pear, and a white bean dip) and the tacos came with consume and two additional salsas. I was only in town for a couple days for work and this was definitely the highlight! They also take Apple Pay, which is nice :) you HAVE to come here if you're in Scottsdale! **I also had so many extra needs with my company and personal card that they helped me navigate--went the extra mile!

Yelp
THE BEST frybread I've had in a very long time. YUM We popped in and only got to try the sampler but I cannot wait to go back and try other menu items. (frybread with dipping sauces) Atmosphere is a modern vibe including a smaller but bright bar and welcoming colors. I recently went to another popular frybread restaurant in Phoenix and this was better for me- more my style and the ingredients are quality; only using Bison meat. Service was excellent. My only complaint is that they were out of wine and had an Arizona wine on their menu, which I really wanted to try- so hopefully when I go back!

Yelp
We were bummed that some of the Frybread places we had bookmarked weren't open on Friday but we were luckily able to find Frybread Lounge not too far from where we were staying. I was super excited to see a unique bison ribeye frybread and we went immediately for lunch. They opened in August 2024 and are pretty new. Location is in Old Town Scottsdale and the store right next to it is their sister-store and also native owned. We popped into that store and heard the flute player tell patrons that both stores have raised over 3 million that have gone back to the Native Community. Both are worth checking out for good food, souvenirs, coffee beans, and some local history. Blue Corn Mush: Mashed Blue corn, maple syrup, with berries on top. They saw we brought the kids and brought us a free one. Had a nice light flavor and wasn't overly sweet. Bison Ribeye Frybread Sandwich Special: The frybread is INSANE. Chef Montana let me watch them fry it from the little order window and it was cool to see the process. It reminds me of a Youtiao/Chinese-donut, crispy outside with a soft and fluffy inside. The interesting thing my wife and I found was it was not too greasy and we did not feel groggy and tired after. Bison has a different taste from beef, its leaner and slightly sweeter and I wish cuts like this were more available where we live. Frybread Chili taco: Ground bison meat with beans. With lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cheese, and salsa. My wife loved this and so did the kids.  Cocktails: Fantastic and delicious, they out a lot of care into the drinks. When I asked why the sage looked so odd they said they beat them to get some of the oils out to amplify the taste. Meal here was the finest one we had in all of Arizona and we've already recommended it to a lot of our friends traveling to the Phoenix and Scottsdale area!

Yelp
Visiting family in Arizona and we came out for dinner to try this newly opened restaurant. It's festively decorated for the holidays which was cute to see. Staff were friendly and we were able to chat with our server as it wasn't too busy. The same family also owns the store next to the restaurant. For my meal, I ordered the Ribeye Frybread Sandwich special. It was a huge sandwich and packed with flavor - so good. I also tried the Prickly Pear Refresher mocktail which I really enjoyed. Delicious Native American fusion food with great service. I plan on visiting again the next time I'm back on the west coast!

Yelp
Lovely experience and service for my first time trying fry bread! Frybread flight and dessert version were delicious. We liked the dessert version best. White blueberry tea was delicious as well! They said it is the only Navajo restaurant in Scottsdale.

Apex S.

Yelp
What a unique experience. First time for us to try bison and elk. We waited by the door reading the menu and someone from the restaurant came and spoke to us. We were glad they did because we changed our original dinner plans to dine here. We got the frybread taco with ground bison meat and the blue corn porridge. They also offered us a sample of the elk pozole since they had a special and we were curious about the taste. Our favorite of the night turned out to be the pozole with the frybread for dipping in it. I hope they make it a regular on the menu. Service overall was friendly and kind. Ambiance is great for date night! What a great addition to this neighborhood. I wish the best for this restaurant and really really want it to do well!

Molly B.

Yelp
My partner and I came here for dinners before our flight and had a great experience! The restaurant is decorated so cute for Christmas and they have the nicest staff! Can't wait to come back to try the food.

Taylor L.

Yelp
Sweet, savory, spicy, and delicious! The food here is AMAZING! 6 of us ate today for early dinner and we had an incredible time. We did the fry bread sampler and the kids had fun decorating them with honey and powdered sugar. Our two kiddos devoured their bison burgers, we split the taco sampler plate and the fry bread taco with bison. My dad had the Rez Burger and loved it! From the moment we walked in the door we felt like the hostess, the servers, and the chef wanted us to have a great dining experience. You can tell there is a lot of thought and love in their menu. Thank you for a wonderful meal.

Vern G.

Yelp
Fire in the Sky Abasolo Corn Whiskey, Alma Tepec Chili Liquor, Nixta Licor De Elote, Tres Agave Nectar, Angostura Bitters, Smoke Top Amazing, smoky, sweet, perfect Turtle Island Iced Tea Sweet Wandering Tea Long Island Slightly bitter but not in a bad way, good flavor  Had a pickle, always a good choice, these were garlicky, very tart Mini frybread taco Frybread, bison chili beans, lettuce, onion, cheese, fresh made salsa (we got both red and green) (Comes with tomato we didn't include) The frybread alone was amazing, perfectly cooked  The meat was kinda dry, the beans were delicious, with great flavor  The red sauce will hurt you if you're from the Midwest, the green sauce has great flavor 10/10, would recommend, would return Deja was an amazing bartender and host

Yelp
The Frybread Lounge literally just opened last week and since an old friend was in town, I wanted to check this place out and show her some of our cool places! This is the first and only Indigenous-owned restaurant here in Scottsdale, so I'm pretty stoked to be the first to review this place on Yelp. We came here on a Saturday night around 6:30pm and there were already a few tables seated and eating. There were also a few people sitting at the bar too. The place is pleasantly decorated and had dim lights and soft colors, which I appreciated. All the staff here were great and checked up on us often. Some of the women working here were wearing cute T shirts with Indigenous themes! No draft beer available here, but there are plenty of signature cocktails, but we did not have any alcohol tonight. We were both not too hungry, so we shared a three sisters salad, an order of plain fry bread, and shared the blue corn mush. The three sisters salad was light and fresh and loved the squash beans, hominy, quinoa, jicama, indigenous pesto, and prickly pear vinaigrette. Very healthy and guilt free eating! I loved the plain fry bread, and every time I have one, it reminds me of my time living on the Navao rez. So delicious and good. One of my favorite Navajo dishes is blue corn mush, so I had to try some here. I enjoyed this dish, and it wasn't too sweet at all and I had to add a little honey just to give it a little sweetness, but I definitely enjoyed it! Overall, I really liked this place and will definitely come back another night to eat more of the items on the menu, including oyster and bison!

Elsa F.

Yelp
The vegetarian frybread was amazing. Servers were so sweet and very helpful in making our decision on what to eat. The interior is great, I love the clouds on the ceiling :)

Tanya W.

Yelp
We had no idea we went during a soft opening weekend! But we're so happy not just to support an indigenous-owned restaurant, but that the food was just amazing. The ambiance was cute, but kind of reminded me all about Pinterest. I still liked it very much. The service was really nice and helpful when I was asking a lot of questions. And yes, the food was absolutely delicious! I still want to eat some of the charcuterie that they have!! And their dip, wow! Definitely worth coming back!

Thomas G.

Yelp
Wow! What a treat this was! Incredible portions, friendly staff and fun/ vibrant atmosphere. If you are in the area and want authentic Frybread this is the place to go

Sabine T.

Yelp
The first indigenous restaurant in Old Town Scottsdale. They play indigenous music and the decor is welcoming. This is a farm-to-table restaurant, which I really appreciate. The prickly pear syrup and the white bean paste I had with my flight of fry bread (yes, they have flights of fry bread, how cool is that?) were made in-house. The menu is unique, in a very good way, with blue corn mush, mesquite maple beans, wild rice, and lots of indigenous meats (bison ribeye and many other bison-based dishes, and a rez charcuterie board). Vegetarian options are available. It's Old Town, so lots of free parking but depending on when you're going, there may not be spots available right by the restaurant. Service was friendly, but really, really slow, especially compared to other fry bread places in town. That is the only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5. Aside from the long wait to get our dishes, I enjoyed dining there.

Paulette E.

Yelp
The food was very good and very unique. I've never been to a Native American restaurant but was excited to try indigenous food. The staff were super pleasant. Frybread was delicious. There were so many good options. Would totally come back again if I was from around here.

Desiree O.

Yelp
Such an authentic restaurant in the Old Town Scottsdale area! All the food is elevated Indigenous food and the cocktails are crafted with locally-made alcohol. I had the vegetarian frybread taco and my husband had the bison one. Both were delicious! They also offer charcuterie boards, rice bowls and burgers. Can't wait to try the flight of frybread with three flavors next time! Decorated in modern decor and cocktail tables, it has a fun lounge vibe with neon signs. Also check out the Native Art Market next door that features art made by Indigenous artisans. This corner of Scottsdale and Main is the best place to bring out-of-town guests to give them an Arizona experience!

Julia N.

Yelp
Bucket list meal - indigenous owned _ did not disappoint! Had the Frybread Ribeye Sandwich, Buffalo Birria Tacos and Buffalo Aasade Tacos. Delish! Creative cocktails and zero proof teas - truly something for everyone! The decor is fun and inviting - comfortable seating not too crowded and our server knew the menu and spoke of all the food with pride. So glad to have found this - give it a try!!

Emily M.

Yelp
I ordered the fry bread flight and the bison birria tacos. The bread was so hot and fresh, with the prickly pear (jam?) being the best topping. I had never tried bison prior to this experience, and I can't believe that! It was tender and juicy, complimented well by a salsa verde. Great service and great local food.

Russ T.

Yelp
Was looking for a quick snack while exploring shops in Old Town and decided to come try the fry bread. I ended up getting a cocktail and the Frybread Delight, both were quick and spot on. Met the owner Heather and she told me a hit about how this place came about. Everything about it feels right and the food comes from the land, locally. Heather was a sweetheart and their story is worth hearing Also, the shop next door is such a vibe. I'll definitely be back and hope they have dedicated nights for music/artists each week, that would keep me coming back as a patron.

Steve K.

Yelp
The Frybread Lounge has excellent food. The recipes are original and farm to table food makes for delicious options. Very creative dishes and healthier choices are available if you are not fry bread fan. Service was quick and friendly and the waitresses were very accommodating to questions. I enjoyed the weekend special of rib eye and fry bead with a side of mixed potatoes. Great combination.

Adrienne R.

Yelp
We happened upon this lovely restaurant. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly and helpful when making our selections. I can't recommend it enough.

Jill S.

Yelp
I went to Scottsdale to shop at the Native Art Market which needs its own review but I will get to that later. I was told about the new Fry Bread Lounge. I was warmly greeted as I walked-in. It wasn't super busy but since I was by myself I sat at the bar. They have an unusual bar selection of the regular liquor you would expect. Like whiskey or vodka but is either local or tribally owned vendors. The menu isn't extensive but filled with delicious offerings. On Friday through Sunday they offer a Bison Ribeye Fry-bread Sandwich. I almost has the wild rice bowl with Bison but I felt super hungry so I selected the fry-bread option. The sandwich described a Bison Ribeye in a wild green pesto with tomatoes. I admired the flowers and lights hanging from the wall along with tribally themed art decorating the walls. The background music was a perfect volume. While waiting I ordered a Painted Desert Cocktail. By now people were checking with their reservation. A party with more than 4 people should definitely make a reservation. It became quite busy with in the short time I was there. My drink came with sage. After a two of those drinks you would need to burn some sage to calm your rising spirits lol. My sandwich arrived quicker than expected. The Bison was steamy and dreamy. The Bison melted in my mouth. The pesto sauce was mixed perfectly with the cherry tomato's and spring greens. The fry bread was light and fluffy. My sister makes the BEST fry bread so it came in as a close second. Heather who was my bartender was the owner. Her enthusiasm for her business was infectious. I couldn't finish the bread but I ate all the Bison. I will be back!!

Hunter D.

Yelp
Wanted to try something local and authentic and this place was recommended. Great bison burgers and bison/mushroom tacos. Everything was fresh and delicious! A must eat in Old Town!

Aitana M.

Yelp
Everything was ok. Nothing special. Very slow service, very slow food delivery and ridiculous/outrageous prices! Basically, you are paying 3-4x to have a fry bread taco sitting down indoors! All the small spots across the valley must be stunned! We have it a try, but $20 for anything on the menu is beyond outrageous. No side with the taco, no sour cream, no cheese, no avocado, no salsa....all you get is the fry bread with beans and some meat!

Leanne N.

Yelp
With all the native goods sold around the area, I was surprised this didn't come up immediately in the search for native food and we found this place by walking! I The portions were generous, flavorful, and so wholesome at a great price. The coffee woke me up nicely as we had our meal around noon. The modern touches make this place so pretty to eat at in the day and it's a really cool spot lighting up at night, which is how it caught our eye as an agenda to eat at the next time we were hungry. The staff were attentive, hospitable and warm, and I would eat here again.

Joe H.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place for the farm to table Native American Bison dishes the Rez burger was amazing... best sweet potato fry's ever ...blue corn mush, wild mushrooms, bison birria oh and fry bread to die for ... AAHmazing

Jonathan U.

Yelp
Came here this evening. Really enjoyed the night here. Food was delicious, very unique selection. The chef came out and spent some time with us and he was so pleasant and nice we really enjoyed speaking with him. Also enjoyed the clouds and starts in the ceiling and just felt very quaint. Highly recommended. Really wanted to try the dessert but was so full just couldn't do it. Plan to come back sometime for dessert only

Mike A.

Yelp
The food was very good. The kids had bison hot dogs and we shared a fry bread taco and a bison steak sandwich. All very delicious. The steak was my favorite. Ask for their salsa and it completes the taco. Will be back again.

Amy M.

Yelp
Everyone was so kind and welcoming! We were thrilled to be able to support indigenous people and enjoy their amazing foods! It was quiet in the restaurant and we could ask any questions. We got the special elk stew and fry bread and a mini taco. (We thought mini meant small, but it was the size of the plate!) we also ordered the painted desert drink and dessert fry bread with almond, strawberry sauce and pine nuts. Yummy!

Clotario W.

Yelp
My sister treated me & my brother as a Christmas gift to lunch. Being our first time here, we were very impressed with the quality of the foods, ambience of the restaurant and the customer service. We're definitely coming back!

Alexis O.

Yelp
After seeing them on TikTok, we drove 2 hours to try this restaurant and it was WELL worth the drive. The service was welcoming and friendly, just a little slow. The lounge itself is decorated so beautifully with flowers and lights and Indigenous artwork, its easy to sit and just hangout and look at the walls . The food was everything I was hoping for. I havent had Bison since I was a little girl and it was everything I remembered. All the ingredients tasted so fresh and the frybread was perfectly crispy but SOFT on the inside. The meat was genuinely cooked to perfection. I feel their consommè needed some work, it had a sweetness I didnt love, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. The cocktail was made so perfectly, all the flavors really blended together to create something I'm trying to recreate at home. I cannot wait to go back and try the rest of the menu

Hope A.

Yelp
Holyyyy smokes this place is incredible. Not only is the food to die for (must tries are the bison birria and duck tinga tacos, as well as the fry bread flight), the service and ambiance is out of this world. Truly an amazing place to eat.

Shana E.

Yelp
I would give this restaurant 10 star stars for the food and top-notch service. The ambience is very sweet. I had savory mushroom tacos with green and red sauce on the side. They were just incredible, so fresh and tasty. My nephew had the bison burger, which he said was excellent. The presentation of both plates was beautiful. I will go back to this restaurant whenever I can and recommend it to others.

Justina Y.

Yelp
The food here was amazing. Their bison tacos were super yummy. I got one of their teas and it was absolutely delicious. I wish I was in town longer to be able to eat more of their food.

Ariana S.

Yelp
Excellent fry bread, bison, and Navajo tea. The servers were kind and helpful. Great vibes all around!

Ana O.

Yelp
The staff was very welcoming and wonderful at explaining all the sourcing of their oh so fresh and delicious ingredients. We had frybread sampler with 4 different toppings. The Bidon Asada tacos were tender and flavorful. Finally, the three sisters salad was extremely fresh. Totally recommend this little restaurant

Candie M.

Yelp
Went to Frybread Lounge and had thier food and it was very good. I highly recommend this restaurant. Met Heather and she was so nice and told us about how her business came about, I wish her the best in her new business.

Robert W.

Yelp
We stopped in The Frybread Lounge after having some fun in Old Town and we were amazed! We ordered the Bison Birria Tacos and Bison Ribeye for 2, along with some teas. We really loved the food and even sitting there eating each dish they brought out for another table we kept looking to each other and saying; "I'm trying that the next time!". We gorged ourselves on our meals and just had a great time. We always frequent the area so I'm looking forward to making good on my "next time" and try out the Frybread Tacos and other goodies. They kept walking by with these towering plates and yeah, maybe we'll be back next weekend. Counting down... I absolutely recommend them for a unique and savory dining experience in Old Town!

Ray F.

Yelp
Great food, great service! Had the Frybread, wild rice with calabacitas, mini Frybread and the dessert. .

David M.

Yelp
Wow fantastic ! I had the Ribeye on the fry bread and it was cooked excellently and tasted amazing . Highly recommend!!

Mike P.

Yelp
Authentic Native American food was off the hook delicious! The green chili stew and fry bread was the best I've ever eaten! Great ambience, great service and affordable prices. Kudos to the staff

Laura S.

Yelp
Super friendly servers and quick service, delicious farm to table restaurant! The interior is beautifully decorated as well.

Michael H.

Yelp
Arrived in Scottsdale for my winter stay and tried The Frybread Lounge... A new restaurant in Old Town, Locally owned by indigenous peoples; the same folks that own the Native Art market co-op next door... I tried the "frybread bison burger and it was terrific... Service was friendly, the restaurant inviting and the food excellent... I will be back!!!

Heather I.

Yelp
Very friendly staff who explained the menu. Food was delicious and unique. Glad to see this place thriving!

Bryan J.

Yelp
Service was friendly and helpful. Knowledgable about gluten sensitivity needs. Food was tasty. Ambiance was very low key.

Shera F.

Yelp
The servers were really friendly and helpful. The frybread was big and tasty. I got the bison rez burger. I couldn't finish it but I sure did try. My family got mini tacos which were also huge.
