"A casual seafood restaurant on Lāhainā’s Front Street whose executive chef survived a harrowing escape during the August 8 fire, walking miles north through collapsing power lines and exploding debris to find his children. The business, located below street level under several other storefronts, was destroyed in the blaze, eliminating payroll and livelihoods and amplifying the personal and economic losses felt by the Native Hawaiian community; the former chef has since turned his efforts toward local relief work." - ByAli Francis
