"With a purportedly haunted elevator, The Eldridge—in its multiple rebuilds and reincarnations—played an important role as a waystation for anti-slavery immigrants to the Kansas Territory in the mid-to-late nineteenth century. Rooms in this member of Historic Hotels of America are fresh and modern (eight suites, with small kitchens, are located a block away in the Extended Eldridge).
