"Sustainability headlines this renovation, with carbon output cut by 79% and overall energy use reduced by 59%, alongside a waste diversion rate above 90% and a 50% drop in potable water use. Fritted glass reduces glare, photovoltaic panels span the roof, and a low-carbon baggage system works with dual plumbing that separates non-potable water for flushing and landscaping. Despite the efficiencies, comfort shines through spacious skylights and creative design touches that highlight San Francisco’s arts-and-crafts style, and the building houses the SFO Museum—the world’s only accredited museum inside an airport. The project was led by Gensler and Kuth Ranieri." - Jessica Puckett
