"I observed that on July 20, 2025 Alaska Airlines suffered a significant IT outage that forced a system-wide ground stop for both Alaska and its regional subsidiary Horizon Air; the airline said “a critical piece of multi-redundant hardware at our data centers, manufactured by a third-party, experienced an unexpected failure,” which impacted several key systems and necessitated keeping aircraft in position.
