"Refuge Coffee, in Clarkston, is part darn-good coffee purveyor, part mission-driven community project. The nonprofit started serving out of a 1983 Chevy van and has since graduated to a full-size cafe in a former garage; today the truck still serves as the service counter and houses all the coffee-making supplies. Refuge sources its beans from Savannah, Georgia-based roaster Perc Coffee, and all of the drinks are solid and tasty. More importantly, though, the cafe provides living wages, mentoring, and job training for resettled refugees and immigrants." - Jennifer Bradley Franklin
