Grand Hyatt Atlanta in Buckhead

"How did it strike you on arrival? On the corner of Peachtree and Piedmont, the Grand Hyatt Atlanta holds court over Buckhead’s busiest intersection. Enter the gleaming white lobby, your steps echoing off the marble floor, and walk straight until you reach Onyx, the lobby bar. Sink into a gray velvet settee, order an IPA from Atlanta’s Monday Night Brewing, and enjoy the views of the hotel’s three-story waterfall and Japanese Zen garden outside. Nice. Who else is checking in?The hotel draws a significant business and convention crowd, as well as fans in town for a big game. What can we expect in our rooms?Rooms are crisp and contemporary, but not particularly wow-worthy (unless you opt for the Presidential Suite with a private balcony facing Stone Mountain). There’s nothing about the white bedding, dark-wood furniture, and tan carpeting that will knock your socks off—but nothing that will make your toes curl, either. Note: If you want turndown service, you have to ask for it. What about the tiny details?Want a fan for your room? The staff will happily bring one. Traveling with young children? They’ll love the rubber duckies they’re given with their cribs. Want to know where to eat? The hotel offers a helpful guide, broken down by culinary category. It’s little touches like these that set the Grand Hyatt Atlanta apart. We'd like to order room service—what should we get?Try the flatbread made with arrabbiata, sopressata, and pepperoni from local charcuterie house The Spotted Trotter. Wash it down with a glass of Red Brick Hoplanta ale, brewed in Atlanta’s Upper Westside. What's one thing that stood out to you at the hotel? The hotel’s most unusual feature is its feng shui Japanese Zen garden, complete with an azumaya (open tea house) and cascading waterfall. It’s visible from the restaurant and lobby bar, as well as the outdoor pool deck. Buckhead is far from a tranquil neighborhood, so this little oasis is a welcome surprise. So, why should we book a room?It might not be the sexiest hotel in Buckhead, but the central location, excellent service, and affordable price tag make the Grand Hyatt Atlanta a worthy choice." - Allison Weiss Entrekin
