"The Portland Children’s Museum promises to be a good time before you even walk into the building—the low-lying brick structure, which shares a parking lot with the Oregon Zoo, looks like an elementary school—though, most elementary schools don’t have a giant blow-up Elmo doll sitting on the edge of the roof or a multi-colored abstract steel sculpture of a cow standing on alphabet blocks in front of the door. Once inside, check the events calendar—your kiddo has a very busy day of mud kitchen, pottery glazing, alphabet archery, butterfly painting, advanced tool time, then maybe a sing-along storytime or dance party with wildly popular local kindie rock band Micah & Me. In other words, this place is an all-day riot—especially if you’re way into popsicle-stick-harmonica making." - Jen Stevenson
