"Let’s start big picture. What’s the vibe here? Sentosa is a 1,236-acre island resort off the southern coast of Singapore that's home to major tourist attractions like Universal Studios Singapore and the S.E.A. Aquarium. Singaporeans and international travelers also flock here to hang out on the beaches, zip line at Mega Adventure Park, shop at the massive luxury galleria, and more. Golf is a big deal here, too—the Sentosa Golf Club has two award-winning courses. Any less big-name stops that are absolute must-sees? Three things: One, Sentosa has a secret cave named Tanjung Rimau located off the western tip of the island, just beyond Rasa Sentosa. Two, the island is home to a century-old Ficus tree that's popular as a backdrop for local wedding photographers. And three, the glass-bottomed Fort Siloso Skywalk is 11 stories high and offers vertigo-inducing views of Sentosa and the city beyond. Was it easy to get around? Sentosa is a relatively small island but crammed with attractions. You'll need to make a game plan in advance of your trip, especially if your time is limited. Once you're on the island, transportation between attractions via beach tram, bus, and monorail is free. Many sights are just five minutes apart, so you can also walk. All said and done, what—and who—is this best for? It really depends what your interests are and who you're traveling with. A family with young children will find no shortage of activities while honeymooning couples might want to spend their time on the beaches, at the hotel spa and pool, and dining out at Sentosa's celebrity chef-driven restaurants. Party crews will head for the 24-hour casino at Resorts World Sentosa. In short, the island is a tourism machine, fine-tuned to appeal to a broad range of people—except those seeking an off-the-beaten-path vacation." - Ashlea Halpern
