"Elegant, historic, and incredibly convenient, Hotel Schweizerhof sits across from the city’s main train station (Hauptbahnhof), but not to worry: The soundproofing is superb. You’ll sleep peacefully in the adjustable beds with the triple-glazed windows blocking out Zurich’s after-dark activities. Service at this family-run gem is polished, professional, and never intrusive. With just under a hundred rooms and suites, the hotel, stately though it is, has a boutique feel that’s evident in everything from the lavish, complimentary breakfast to the solicitous concierge. The hotel’s motto, after all, is "making people happy since 1877," and it’s clear they really do their best to make guests’ stays as relaxing and delightful as possible. In spite of the property’s relatively small size, there are three on-site dining and drinking options: La Soupière Restaurant, Café Gourmet, and Bar Schweizerhof—the last is especially excellent for a pre- or post-dinner libation." - Stacey Lastoe
