Pizzeria I Quintili — Restaurant Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"What were your first impressions when you arrived?   The latest outpost of Pizzeria I Quintili is in Rome ’s EUR residential and business district is its most stylish yet. Tables are spread out beneath a turquoise blue-colored ceiling, the kitchen easily visible through a clear window. It’s comfortable, smart and packed pretty much every night. What’s the crowd like?   The EUR district is a residential neighborhood with homes and local businesses, so most of the diners come from the nearby offices or some of the surrounding districts—all looking for a relaxed night out and good pizza. Lately, though, the excellent reviews have seen Romans travel from other parts of the city to sample I Quintili’s pizza. What should we be drinking?   There are some good wines on the list that work well with the thick, Neapolitan style pizzas, alongside a small drinks menu that includes soft drinks and Italian craft beers and ales. Main event: the food. Give us the lowdown—especially what not to miss.   People flock to I Quintili for its incredibly light fried starters, so be sure to order the frittatina ‘nduja (fried rice ball with spicy ‘nduja sausage) and frittatina alla puttanesca (with garlic, capers, anchovies, olives and parmesan). The pizzas come in classic or fried versions—which have long been a Neapolitan street food staple. Try the Pizza Fritta with Neapolitan salami, ricotta, and provolone cheese. The more classic pizzas are made to traditional Neapolitan specifications (thick and doughy), and span everything from classics like Margherita and Capricciosa to the more unique Novella (smoked buffalo mozzarella, potatoes, sausage and rosemary) and Oro Giallo (orange tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, red tomato shavings, and orange essence). And how did the front-of-house folks treat you?   The staff are helpful and efficient. Pizzas come out hot and fast, and are served with a smile. What’s the real-real on why we’re coming here?   EUR may not be on the main Roman hit list, but it’s worth the trek just for pizza and ambience here. Take some friends for an authentic Roman experience." - Maresa Manara
