"What's this place all about? It may be a small town, but even little ol' Julian can feel frenetic with tourists on weekends. If that's not your thing, pop over to this charming, family-run cider house set in a barn on the grounds of its apple and pear orchard. It's welcome and laid-back. If one of the great staffers doesn't welcome you in first, the bar pup probably will. How’s the crowd? These are the tourists who are seeking a slower pace and want to go off the beaten path. How are the drinks? Cider rules in this house, er, barn. You can get a taster, half pour, full pour, a flight of 3 or 4, or a growler if you're ready to commit. Made with the family's own organic apples and pears as well as a native yeast, their hard ciders clock in at a potent-for-a-cider 5–6% ABV with flavors like a signature Dry apple or Perry. Overall, flavors lean a bit dry—no overly sugary pours here. That's because these ciders are carefully crafted by a seasoned oenologist with a degree in pomology (no, really) and his father, an engineer and Julian apple grower for more than 30 years. Can we get something to eat? While they don't serve food, feel free to bring a picnic. Better yet, go full autumn by joining in on their weekend U-Pick or at least snag a few apples and pears from their farmstand. Did the staff do you right?
