Castle in the Country

"How did it strike you on arrival?Located on a quiet country road, Castle in the Country is a quaint, blue, 100-year-old Victorian that screams iconic American dream home. The bed and breakfast, with its millennial pink painted details, wrap-around porch and just-so hanging planters, is an adorable escape out in flat, picturesque countryside. What’s the crowd like? This country getaway attracts couples young and old seeking a romantic retreat from city life. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Ten different rooms and suites are available, with grand sounding names. The Sir Lancelot Suite is decked out in modern, cooling hues of blue gray, with black trimming, king-sized bed, and sitting area with tufted seating and third-floor views of the countryside. A whirlpool tub and shower, both for two, and in-room fireplace provide a luxurious setting for unwinding. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The king-sized bed is plush, with soft pillows and comfy sheets, while robes are heavily weighted and luxe. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase?During nicer months, the bed and breakfast offers complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides to guests. There are also 65-acres of estate with trails and a private lake, along with specially packed picnic lunches, breakfast and dinner. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. The spacious two-person shower is a room unto itself, with a two-person whirlpool tub, to boot. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word?Free Wi-Fi is available. Room service: Worth it?Dinner is available with special packages. Local wine, stuffed pub pies (steak and Guinness, chicken and white wine, and roasted vegetables in red wine sauce), fresh salads, and breads are all included. Staff: If you could award one a trophy, who gets it, and why?The detail-oriented staff is helpful and effusive with tips on exploring the local sites—breweries, wineries, restaurants and other activities. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The 65-acre estate is a gorgeous respite—this is blue sky country. Secluded spots throughout the bed and breakfast, from different porches and vantage points, allow even more quiet time amidst the quiet time. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Castle in the Country's seclusion is its biggest draw. Far away from city lights, you'll be beneath star-filled skies and amidst wide-open spaces. Bottom line: worth it, and why?The luxurious digs and clean country air are enough reason to book a stay."
