"So, what can you tell us about this place?Located less than a ten-minute walk from Main Street, the wood-shingled Harbour House feels like a cozy coastal home, inside and out. The hotel is decorated in a tastefully modern, unpretentious residential style—guests will feel perfectly at home borrowing a board game from the front desk and playing in front of the fire in the lounge. While the atmosphere is decidedly relaxed, it’s still an upscale hotel, and the real treat is the service. Don’t miss the free wine-and-cheese hour each evening. Sounds lovely. What’s the crowd like?Harbour House is geared toward couples, who often skew a bit older. But it’s not unusual for extended families with kids to book a room block for a reunion or group getaway. Got it. Now, onto the good stuff: Tell us about the digs.In keeping with the vibe of the hotel, rooms here feel residential, airy, and bright, with gas fireplaces, whirlpool tubs (in most rooms), and nautical details like model ships and lighthouses. Overall, the decor is a modern take on coastal chic. The majority of the rooms have very comfortable king beds, but there are a few with twins, too. How about the little things, like the minibar, or shower goodies? Anything that made your stay more comfortable?Wi-Fi is free and strong; there’s a coffee maker but no minibar; and there are Frette bathrobes, which are perfect for lounging by the fire. Perfect. And how'd you find the staff? The service at Harbour House is what makes the property stand out among its competitors. Everyone from the front desk attendants to the waitstaff at the continental breakfast is incredibly attentive and polite, and they’ll all go above and beyond to make your stay comfortable. Any other features you'd like to shout out? Whether it’s childcare, the gym, the spa, even parking—whatever stuck with you.Parking is free, which is great for those making the drive from Toronto. There’s not much else in the way of amenities at Harbour House, but you’ll likely be out and about anyway. Bottom line: worth it, and why?Harbour House is a bit pricey when you consider its minimal amenities, but it's the location and service you’re splurging for—it’s worth it, if you have the budget." - Liz Humphreys
