"How did it strike you on arrival? A slick 42-story contemporary glass-and-steel skyscraper by acclaimed U.K.-based architect Norman Foster, Fraser Suites Sydney is in the Central Business District (CBD) near Town Hall Station. It’s a short walk to Hyde Park, Chinatown, Darling Harbour or the International Convention Centre Sydney. Nice. What’s the crowd like? Business travellers can plug straight in at Fraser Suites, but urbane couples, families or friends will also appreciate the handy location and smart services. The lofty atrium impresses all comers, with a dramatic rainfall-style chandelier dripping from the ceiling. The good stuff: Tell us about your room. Sleek modern style rules in the 201 studios and one-bedroom apartments with floor-to-ceiling windows, neutral colours and on point technology (such as iPod docking sound systems, compatible with iPhone 5). All rooms have spacious work desks and well-equipped kitchenettes. Twice the size of entry-level Deluxe Studio Suites, the 56-square-metre One Bedroom Suites have separate bedroom, living, dining and study areas, plus a galley kitchen, stove top and washer-dryer. Interconnect both room types to form a Two Bedroom Suite. Two- or three-bedroom split-level Penthouse Apartments star impressive skyline views. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us? Fine fabrics and linens make Queen or King beds inviting. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? Mini-bars are stocked with premium wine and beer, including craft beer from Sydney’s oldest pub The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel. Rooms also feature a microwave, toaster, kettle and Nespresso coffee machine. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down. Enjoy power showers in most rooms, with French L’Occitane en Provence products, bathrobes and slippers. One Bedroom Premier Suites have baths. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? High-speed Wi-Fi is complimentary in rooms and throughout the hotel. Room service: Worth it? Room service is available for breakfast and dinner. Staff: If you could award one a trophy, who gets it, and why? Book time with an on-site personal trainer. No need to let your fitness regime slip! 24/7 concierges and reception, a business centre and meeting rooms are also at your service. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you. A heated indoor lap pool, sauna, Jacuzzi and 24-hour fitness room are handy for relaxing or working out. On-site parking and a valet service make life easy (charges apply). What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay? Buffet breakfast is served on the 10th-floor Mezzanine Level, where you’ll enjoy views over the city and Darling Harbour. Bottom line: worth it, and why? A luxe home-away-from-home for both business and leisure travelers, especially those looking at a long-stay." - Sophie Davies
