"In Medellín’s Comuna 13, this restaurant and women’s collective—whose name translates roughly as Brave Women—offers plates of grilled tilapia and seafood rice served on banana leaves in a lively setting where a man in a sequinned suit might be crooning Mexican ballads. Led by Paola Andrea Rivas, who appears in an orange kaftan delivering dishes, the project is explicitly framed around the idea that its women “cook for dignity,” transforming what was once one of Medellín’s most dangerous, unplanned hillside slums into a destination where people now come to eat Pacific-style food amid street murals sponsored by Amazon." - Stephanie Rafanelli
