MUDE (Museu do Design e da Moda), Lisbon, Portugal - Museum Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"We heard this place was closed; what's the scoop? There's no word yet when MUDE will finally complete its renovation, but MUDE Outside will keep us sated while we're waiting for the dramatic revamp of this fashion and design museum, which is situated in an old bank. Got it. And, before the temporary overhaul (and, hopefully, after), what could you see here? Prior to its overhaul, the museum featured more than 2,000 objects—a mix of clothing, accessories, footwear, furniture, and objects—that touched on themes like luxury and counterculture. Past exhibitions have highlighted designers like Alexander McQueen, Balenciaga, and Jean-Paul Gaultier. Sounds fabulous! In the meantime, what can MUDE Outside offer visitors? MUDE Outside hosts citywide pop-ups that keep momentum going during the museum's closure. Farther afield, MUDE organized "How Do We Pronounce Design in Portuguese?," a large cross-disciplinary show in Providence in collaboration with Rhode Island School of Design. Excellent. And, who will we be exchanging wanting glances with? (Over the pieces, that is.) Creative types enamored with the nuances of design and fashion." - Alia Akkam
