"So, can you tell us a little about this place?Located in the historic 1920s Charles S.W. Packard Building, in the heart of downtown Philadelphia (just blocks from Rittenhouse Square), Roost is an apartment-style hotel that mostly offers extended-stay accommodations. From the moment you step inside the whitewashed, vaulted-ceiling lobby, Roost feels like exactly the kind of place you’d want to stay a while. The brand also has outposts in Philly's Rittenhouse Square and East Market neighborhoods, but we love the centrality of this one. Sounds cool. What’s the crowd like? The majority of guests are business travelers who’ve made Philly their temporary—or soon-to-be-permanent—home (the average length of stay is two months, though two- or three-night reservations are possible). Expect a lot of tired faces at the end of the day. Got it. Now, onto the good stuff: Tell us about your room. Each of the one- and two-bedroom apartments, designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, is intended to feel like home—or at least, homey. Expect full-size kitchens (outfitted with all the necessary cookware), Bosch washers and dryers, herringbone hardwood floors, fluffy king-size beds, light fixtures from Roll & Hill and Workstead, custom artwork from LUMAS, and vintage Turkmen rugs. Wow—it's a pretty stylish spot, then. Tell us more about the little things, like the mini-bar, or the shower goodies—anything that made your stay more comfortable. We loved all the souped-up versions of things you have at home: Geneva Bluetooth sound system, Davines bath amenities, La Colombe coffee beans and brewing equipment, Apple TV, and Sferra linens and bath towels. We do love us some La Colombe. How about room service, or the dining options in general? What can we expect?Since Roost isn’t a traditional hotel, you won’t find a downstairs bar or in-room dining menu. You are, however, in the middle of downtown Philadelphia, where a quality meal is just down the street. We’re also pretty sure you know how Seamless works. Yup, we do. Alright—any other services or features you'd like to call out? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The on-demand services at Roost are super clutch, including: weekly housekeeping, bike share, dog walking, passes to the nearby Sporting Club at The Bellevue, and a 24-hour front desk and concierge. The hotel also has a partnership with Lyft, since many guests don’t have a car during their stay; just ring down to the concierge and a discounted Lyft ride will be arranged in a pinch. Perfect. So, bottom line: worth it, and why?Between the convenient Midtown location, the top-notch services, and the creature comforts of each apartment-style room, Roost makes hotel living feel like home." - Katie James Watkinson
