Lee Harvey's — Bar Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"First impression? A "private social swim club", Lee Harvey's Dive In is like no other venue in Dallas . Essentially a sunny swim club across the street from a beloved 50-year-old dive bar, it's a brilliant, affordable option if you need to cool off from the intense summer heat of Texas, and fancy doing so with a delicious cocktail in hand and beautiful people all around you. How’s the crowd? Locals LOVE Lee Harvey's dive bar across the street, and that affection has translated to this "dive-in" addition. Expect Dallasites aged 25 to 45, who are here to let their hair—and their body temperatures—down over affordable drinks. These aren't necessarily wine experts or cocktail connoisseurs, but they're generally aficionados on how to have a good time. How are the drinks? There's a good selection of ice cold beer, both domestic and imported, but really this place is about colorful cocktails, which may or may not get spilled in the pool. The rum punch is surprisingly good and they serve a solid margarita too. For those feeling a bit more daring, try the Ocean Water: a party-starting fusion of malibu, vodka, and blue curacao. If there’s food, is it worth ordering something to eat? The food comes from the main bar across the street, and most people keep it light (they are swimming after all). Favorites include chips & salsa, onion rings and chicken wings, or if you've worked up a little more of an appetite, there's a selection of tacos, burgers and sandwiches to choose from. Did the staff do you right? The staff are young, fun, and engaging and add to the overall vibe of this sunny swim club. Wrap it up: what are we coming here for? People come to Lee Harvey's Dive In for guaranteed good times, not necessarily guaranteed good drinks. It's a great place to relax and chill out on a summer evening and soak away the stresses of the day—or to catch up with old friends on a weekend afternoon." - Jonathan Thompson
