"Closing Sunday, June 18 after nearly seven years on Edgewood Avenue in the historic Sweet Auburn District, this southern-style beer garden opened in 2016 in a former peanut butter factory that later became a veterinary hospital. It offered 24 mostly Georgia beers and ciders on tap, regional spirits and a tight bar-food menu, and its garden patio was billed as “downtown Atlanta’s largest backyard.” Over the years it served as a community hub—hosting private events, town halls, election-night watch parties and candidate debates—and was used as a staging area for extras during nearby TV production; the production company compensated affected businesses, which allowed the owners to give employees paid vacation during the shutdown. The owners say they own the building and will host private events there while they consider a new concept for the ground-floor space." - Beth McKibben
