"Construction is done on Tigers Taproom, a new beer bar and bottle shop opening soon near Jack London Square; taking over the former World Ground Cafe space at 308 Jackson Street, Suite 4, I learned it will present 16 beers on tap alongside cans and bottles to grab to go. While it may have infrequent soft-opening hours in the coming weeks, the official opening is Sunday, October 14, and starting then it will be open Tuesday through Sunday from 2 to 10 p.m. Owners Brian Chan and Daniel Gutierrez jumped at the opportunity to run their own taproom after working together at a flailing startup, and Chan—who is a beer photographer and organizer of the East Bay Non-IPA Tap Takeover in Alameda—decorated the space with large beer photos he took at local breweries. At opening Tigers will exclusively serve Bay Area beers on tap, including Federation Brewing, Independent Brewing, Original Pattern Brewing and the yet-to-open Oakland United Beerworks, plus Ghost Town Brewing, Faction Brewing, Temescal Brewing and others, with plans to showcase a wide range of styles from IPAs to sours and limited releases and eventually branch out to the rest of California and Oregon." - Janelle Bitker
