"Opened in December 2017 by Sahil Rahman and Rahul Vinod, the fast-casual Indian counter in Navy Yard was created to introduce diners to dishes they might not have a reference for, including Goan spiced beef, turmeric ginger shrimp, and lamb kebabs. Washingtonian reports that in the next six months they’ll be making three times as many chicken “Tikka Chance on Me” bowls as they do now, and the owners plan to open a second location this winter in Mt. Vernon Triangle (475 K Street NW) and a third next spring near Amazon’s incoming HQ2 in Crystal City (2200 Crystal Drive, Suite F, Arlington). The pair earned a two-and-a-half-star review from Washington Post critic Tom Sietsema, who gave them bonus points for attentive service, called their pumpkin soup “rousing,” and praised their insistence on grinding garam masala on-site; they also earned one of Eater’s Young Guns spots. To help fund the expansion they’ve added Vernon Davis as a significant investor." - Gabe Hiatt
