"Set to open this summer inside the new Essex Street Market, Dhamaka will showcase everyday Indian foods — think meat served on the bone and fish served whole — drawing from street snacks and home-cooked dishes across the country; menu examples mentioned include Mumbai-style pav bhaji and lesser-known household curries. Created by the team behind Rahi and Adda, the restaurant will be decidedly more casual than Rahi, seat about 60 diners (including a 10-seat bar), feature colorful, industrial-chic decor, have both an interior market entrance and its own street entrance, serve lunch and dinner (with breakfast possibly added later), price dishes below $25, and aim to present authentic, regionally diverse Indian food rather than the more “one-dimensional” offerings common in the U.S." - Carla Vianna
