"Set in the former G&O Tavern at 459 N. Ogden Avenue, Diego is Sandoval’s new bar planned for a summer opening (hopefully by late July) to complement his upcoming fine-dining project. The menu will favor mariscos — ceviche, a tuna tostado, fish tacos and more — while also offering non-seafood items such as a burger with queso, macho aioli, pickled jalapeños, chives and avocado, a Sonoran hot dog, and a taco de canasta inspired by his stepmother Gloria with potato, salsa cruda, avocado and crema. Local bartender Danielle Lewis, who worked on drinks during the Sueños residency at Soho, is again creating mostly agave cocktails and frozen drinks, including the Morado Flor (hibiscus-infused mezcal, chipotle-pilloncillo syrup, lime), Un Perro (strawberry-infused vodka, miso simple syrup, lime, grapefruit), and Oscar’s Piña Colada (blended rum, coconut cream, lime and pineapple). Sandoval has also aimed to control the music, lighting and decor and has enlisted Aida Napoles at AGN Design to help make the space his own." - Ashok Selvam
