"Opening inside the Downright Austin hotel at 701 East 11th Street on Monday, June 24, Swim Club is a public poolside bar and restaurant where guests can drink, eat, and swim without hotel-only access or memberships. Led by Travis Tober (co-owner of Nickel City, Murray’s Tavern, Half Moon, and Lockhart bar Old Pal), the concept is meant to be "fun and flirty," with a full 1980s Miami aesthetic that extends into the food and drinks. Signature cocktails include the Skinny Dipper (Aperol infused with strawberries, a coconut fat-washed mezcal, ginger, lime, and an herbal liqueur); the Marg (a frozen tequila drink with orange pekoe tea and lime); and Sharks in the Water (vodka, gin, blue curaçao, pina colada mix, and a framboise float). The menu will feature items like brick-oven pizza and fish tacos, though the chef has not been disclosed. Swim Club also houses Randy’s Radio Room, described as a "lively disco lounge," and an alfresco Lawn with outdoor picnic tables and seating. The project took over a space that had been planned for a Lost Boy & Co. bar, and hours are 11 a.m.–10 p.m. Sunday–Thursday (bar service until midnight) and 11 a.m.–11 p.m. Friday–Saturday (bar service until 2 a.m.)." - Nadia Chaudhury
