"I report that after opening in March 2021 with Chef Michael Mina overseeing the menu, Bungalow Kitchen at 2nd & PCH in Long Beach will close briefly for an overhaul as owner Brent Bolthouse pivots the space back to his original concept: a massive bar and lounge focused on DJs, lounge service, bar vibes and snacks rather than a full restaurant. The 10,000-square-foot anchor sits across multiple dining and drinking areas with a wide patio and water views; Mina’s attachment helped build an audience and his food found a following, but he is no longer attached to the Long Beach food program and the Kitchen name will be dropped. Bolthouse says the change is intentional and expected, that a small snack menu will remain when the space reopens and that the venue will return to its boisterous lounge roots by mid‑March/this spring." - Brian Addison
