"During the holy month of Ramadan, I saw Mohamed Beydoun using his property as a testing ground for a year-round food truck park by inviting operators to share the space free of charge every night except Sundays from 8 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. starting March 28; if it goes over well he’s considering using the Trucks Park as a permanent food truck park. It’s the home base where he parks his three trucks — Mediterranean Express, Taco Truck 313 (featuring Halal Mexican food), and Windy City Wings — and the space consists of a parking lot and a storefront that serves as a commissary kitchen and dining room, though it sits largely empty during the week because his team is frequently out at local festivals, special events, and catering gigs. Drawing on more than a decade operating food trucks in Chicago, he wants to attract other operators to create community among vendors, offer a variety of halal eating choices in one spot with indoor seating, and has begun conversations to establish the Michigan Halal Food Truck Association as a resource for others getting into the industry." - Serena Maria Daniels
