"I'm looking forward to Dark Horse Coffee Roasters’ first South Bay storefront, which co-founder Bryan Charlson says is “right around the corner” and is expected to open its doors in the coming weeks. The new 2,000-square-foot bar will be housed at F Street and Third Avenue in the Park Plaza at the Village center in Chula Vista. The menu will include the roaster’s traditional drip and espresso lineup plus specialty drinks such as The Champ and the salted maple latte; the shop will also offer rotating soft-serve ice cream flavors made with Dark Horse single-origin beans (a collaboration with sister company Mutual Friend Ice Cream), Dark Horse’s Skinny Donuts treats, and retail items. Charlson noted a Chula Vista location had been on their radar for some time — an Instagram survey showed 80% of responses favored opening there — and this will mark the company’s fifth San Diego County location and sixth overall." - Mario A.
