"If you gnashed your teeth in rage after Julia’s, a beloved brunch-y cafe, closed late last year, now you can gnash your teeth in joy — the Wallingford joint is reopening as early as next week. Opened in the early ’80s by Julia Miller and purchased by German immigrant Karsten Betd in 1993 (later inherited by his daughter Lauren), the cafe closed in December amid a dispute between Miller and the Betd family: Vanishing Seattle reported that the Betds believed Miller would eventually sell the building but she refused multiple offers and raised the rent, prompting them to close. Miller disputes that account, telling Eater Seattle that the previous owners had “abandoned the spot” and left it in a condition that required months of cleaning and repairs; she says the new owner is Victor Morales, who with his family will be updating the menu to include Mexican dishes, and that the new Julia’s could reopen possibly as soon as next Thursday or Friday." - Harry Cheadle
