"Emmy Squared, a casual Detroit-style pizzeria by way of Brooklyn, has opened its first Florida location in Fort Lauderdale. The new outpost debuted late last month, bringing its unique Detroit-style pizza and popular burgers to the Sunshine State. Emmy Squared has made a name for itself for its unique approach to the Detroit pizza. Its focaccia dough undergoes a 48-hour proofing process, diverging from traditional Detroit-style pizza, which uses brick cheese, in favor of a mozzarella and ricotta blend. Another standout feature is its “Roni cup” or “cup and char” pepperoni. These smaller, thicker pepperoni slices curl into a bowl shape as they cook, creating a crisp, blackened edge with a greasy center. This style, a longtime favorite in Buffalo and parts of the Midwest has become a signature element at Emmy Squared." - Olee Fowler
