"After a long run on Adams Morgan's 18th Street NW nightlife strip, the towering American beer hall and restaurant that opened in 2014 under chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley ended its long lifespan when general manager Dave Delaplaine shut it down on Sunday, November 19. Partners from Code Red will reboot and operate the iconic Roofers Union and say they are eager to revive the longstanding institution while honoring its rich legacy and introducing modern updates; more specifics on an early 2024 reopening, enhancements, and offerings will be announced soon. The popular haunt for craft-beer buffs offered live music and DJs on weekends, frequent trivia nights, happy hour, and an American comfort-foods menu featuring mac and cheese, Sriracha-glazed wings, burrata and squash, brisket-and-sirloin burgers, grilled flat-iron steak, and pan-seared branzino.
