"After 10 years in business, the Westheimer restaurant—known for comforting, nostalgia-inducing modern American fare—served its last chicken-fried steak on Friday, June 30 as it prepares to relocate a block away following unsuccessful lease-extension negotiations. The move to Alexan River Oaks at 3015 Weslayan Street will reopen this fall in a larger, 6,900-square-foot space that expands the on-site White Star Bar with reverse happy hours and late-dining menus, adds a private dining area, outdoor patio, a bigger kitchen to improve to-go and catering operations, valet and self-parking, and an on-site café for morning coffee. Owner Michael Shine says the menu will continue to feature signature regional dishes like chicken pot pie, jumbo lump crab cakes, and buttermilk fried chicken served with mashed potatoes, green beans, and buttered cheddar biscuits drizzled with Texas wildflower honey, promising a “bigger and better” experience." - Brittany Britto Garley
