New Orleans Coffee Shop PJ’s Coffee Will Open in Dallas | Eater Dallas

"An upcoming PJ’s Coffee at 13605 Midway Road in Dallas will be the first in the area to be owned by a Black woman, franchisee Brittany Willis. Willis, a New Orleans native who landed in Dallas after evacuating from Katrina in 2005, always stopped at PJ’s on trips back home and chose the brand when she decided to invest in a business. She signed her franchise agreement in early March as Texas began shutting down for the coronavirus; the pandemic may have delayed the opening but also allowed her to secure a location with a drive‑thru for patrons who want coffee to go. Slated to open right after the holiday season, Willis says the Midway Road shop “invokes the soul and unique experience of PJ’s Coffee original location on Maple Street in New Orleans,” and she may open additional DFW locations herself." - Brittanie Shey
